i started spottig a tiny bit of old blood yesterday and it really freaked me out.

i am waiting on pins and needles to see if i have anymore today.

no cramping, so that is a relief but man this is stressful, it didn't happen last time.

I've actually been having the same problem. I had very light spotting for about a week and a half, but was told that its normal. However, after that, I had a real scare this past friday. I thought I was miscarrying b/c I had a gush of blood come out, but it immediatelly stopped. I ended up going to the ER and they told me that I should not worry unless the blood is bright red or it continues and gets heavier and I get cramps. Just to make sure, they ran a couple tests and an ultrasound and the only thing they found that was out of the ordinary is that I'm pregnant with TWINS!!! :D In other words, from my personal experience so far, even a little more than light spotting seems to be ok.

I had the same experience, with my first pg no spotting whatsoever. So with this one every time I had spotting, ranging from red to brown to pink I got very nervous. But every time it turned out to be just normal spotting!

Good luck to you, it is so hard to relax isnt it?!

Hang in there, mama. I haven't spotted, but a LOT of my friends have and went on to have very healthy babies. I tried to count them for you, but really... Just in my real life, I know too many to count. My mother spotted with some of us, too! (She's had five children)

I'm thinking many positive thoughts for you because I know it's hard to do that when you're in the thick of something potentially worrisome :hug

I have only had some minor spotting after sex, which is very understandable. The cervix is very friable during pregnancy and any small disturbance can cause some spotting.

All that said, I was scared too. No pregnant woman wants to see blood of any kind!

Hang in there...mine stopped in about 12-24 hours! I wish you the best.

When I was pg with DS, I had light spotting during the seventh week. It was dark and brown (meaning it wasn't fresh, pink blood) which is a good sign. It freaked me out at the time. The pregnancy was quite healthy despite that, which is normal. When I had the M/C there was light pink spotting followed within a few hours by a heavy period. There was no prolonged guessing involved. I don't think you're in danger - just relax and it will pass. Sending you good vibes!

Hang in there mommas! Spotting is so scary, but it can be so completely normal! Just try to relax, rest, and trust your body. All my positive thoughts to you all!

A friend of mine said she spotted with her dd throughout the pg. Then she didn't spot at all for the 2nd pg and ended up m/c-ing. :(

:hug I'd still be still be worried like you, but it sounds like all the others here who have experienced it have been ok.

WOW, Hatawa - TWINS!! That's a lot to take in!!! Congrats!!!

Awwww, I'm sorry you are worried. I spotted just last week-2 days in a row. As long as it is old blood, you are fine! I know it's scary, but totally, totally normal. try not to stress, lie down, rest, and talk to your babies. It'll make you feel better. :hug

i mentioned to a friend that i was getting some pregnancy safe herbs for my asthma because i have been coughing so hard i have been peeing my pants. she thought that might be the source of my spotting.

i thought this was a good point.

i hope those herbs get here soon!

Oooh, that's entirely possible! What herbs are you gonna use for that? I'm just curious!

Honeybee! :hug I'm sorry, I know how nerve-wracking spotting can be!

I'm not spotting this time, but I want to encourage you. I spotted (well, more than spotted) with two of my kiddos the entire pregnancy. For one, there was no reason nailed down and for the other an u/s revealed a subchorionic hematoma. In the end all was well. I will tell you that with ds#2 (where there was no known cause) I did have my progesterone checked and it was low. We began supplementing which didn't stop the bleeding, but did (I believe) help me keep the baby.

I truly hope that your spotting stops really soon and that you will be able to relax a bit.

Cristina

I spotted with my dd and freaked out due to my previous miscarriages. As others have said it is normal. I went on to have a healthy 9lb 4oz baby!!! Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!!!

don't know, i will see when he sends them.

he is a close friend so i just emailed him and said "i'm pregnant and my asthma is bothering me, help!"

and he's sending me something.

hopefully it gets here soon. he is still trying to recover from a nasty divorce and so his life is a real mess right now. why is it the marriages that are so extraordinarily wonderful can end in such terrible divorces?

i haven't had any spotting this time (yet) but had spotting and then gushes of bright red bleeding with my first. i was *sure* i was having a miscarriage. it turned out that i had a low lying placenta and somehow they figured that caused it. anyway, i had a few more episdodes of spotting but he was born full term and HUGE (10 pounds 6 ounces).

it's so hard relaxing and not worrying in these early weeks, huh?

thanks for asking shannon, i still have some mucus with old blood. it's just a bit, but still making me nervous.. since i don't know why i have it.

i have no cramps though and that is a good thing. i went a whole day with none and thought "oh good, that's gone, now i can relax again" and then it showed up the next day. ugh.

if it keeps up i will likely call the midwife and ask her what it might be. i will not have one of those u/s with the wand, so i just have to wait and see anyway.

I totally understand you not wanting the internal ultrasound. I won't ever have one again if I can help it. I hope the cramping and bleeding stop. It is so nerve wracking.

Hi - I am searching old posts for any info on subchorionic hematomas and I ran across your post - I have just been diagnosed with a "large"one and am feeling scared...would you mind sharing what sort of supplements you feel may have helped you?? I hope to hear from you soon - thank you so much!
