Lots of mamas can birth twins naturally but you have to choose your careprovider wisely. Obviously surgeons like surgery, so if you're fortunate enough to have twins again, find midwifery care and avoid surgeons like the plague they are. Evidence based care shows VBAC is safer than ERC and we know vaginal births are better for babies whether there's one or two in there. Before pregnancy is the best time to work on this stuff! I'm sorry you're hurting over your surgery, you are most definitely not alone in that! :hug

I've never had twins, but I did just recently read the ACOG recommendations and they state that twins is not a contraindication for VBAC.

Hope this helps :-)

hello,

I feel your pain. My daughter was a planned homebirth that did not go as planned. She was posterior and I pushed at home for 5+ hours. She wouldn't budge. They couldn't give me an epi b\c of wbc count (at the hosp) so we had c-sec. I got prego 2 yrs later and was planning HBAC. I find out they are they, twins. My midwife (3 hrs away) wanted me to birth near her with backup nearby. This was just not practical for our family. I found a doc willing to VBAC twins. The they came early and were bith breech :( So another csec. Very frustrating. I will again attempt another HBAC (not for quite a few years, I've got my hands full) And pray for my luck to change.

I live in A very conservative area and couldn't believe I found this doc. (I do not blame him) Next time I will go for an HBAC twins or no twins.

Sorry I couldn't give you more optimism. There are docs out there that thiunk birth is normal and will vbac twins.:)

good luck on your journey

Ok, I am not pregnant again(yet)....but I will do all I can to have a VBAC with my next pregnancy. I have so much bitterness and regret about my twins' birth this past October.... :hug
I feel like I was basically ignored for the duration of my pregnancy then pushed and coerced into a c-section when my membranes ruptured. Pssst: you were. It doesn't matter what is said before the birth, the bottom line is the docs don't trust multiple birth, and the money is better. They are also afraid... I just talked to lady I met who had her twins at home with midwives. Birth went great and the babies were 7+ lbs apiece. Still nursing at 9 months, eating food and crawling all over the place.
Anyway, the chances are high that I may one day conceive twins again, maybe not the next pregnancy but possibly. Has anybody successfully done a VBAC and delivered healthy twins? YES! Read About.com's Pregnancy/birth moderator's birth stories: Her name is Robin Elise Weiss, her first was a section, she had all the other 6 at home, including her 8 lb apiece twins. She had dual care during pg, and her website has the birth story on it. Her other births (hilary(c-sec), Benjamin, Isaac, Lilah, are on the birth stories section of the website. If you google Robin Elise Weiss you might also find it there. I know of at least 12 pairs of twins born at home. It is much safer for mom and baby. Here is the link to Robin's preggo pics with the twins. She went full term.
I am so sick of quack doctors pushing c-sections and unnessary drugs and procedures...but at the same time regardless of the trauma I have to endure, I want healthy babies, kwim?

Absolutely. And they are usually born safest at home, with midwives. There is a lady who birthed her twin UC(unassisted, but she didn't know they were twins) The story is called Unassisted birth of unexpected Twins.

http://www.unassistedchildbirth.com/ucstories/twins.html
is another site that has several homebirth Twins stories on it. The moderator has had 4 unassisted births, one of them a footling breech! :) See, it *can* be done!

A friend of mine had VBAC twins a few years after having her first by c/s. I'm not pregnant yet, but she is totally my inspiration for VBAC!

Good luck!

Hi there. I originally posted a question here about twin VBACs when I was pregnant, and I just came back to post my success story. I just had a recent VBAC with twins. My two are 10 weeks today. They were full term (38 1/2) weeks and over 6 pounds each and I delivered them both vaginally. The second one - my little girl - was double footling breech and the OB just stayed calm and I delivered her easily with two pushes.

I had a C/S first time around for failure to progress (failure to wait???) and I was determined to avoid it this time. I worked with midwives and an OB for backup who was very supportive. The key is finding supportive care providers, IMO. The hospital was not very VBAC friendly and had recently banned midwife VBACs, but my supportive midwife and confident, competent OB made all the difference.
