I've been planning a UC (am doing a UP) and my friend that is a midwife was going to be present at our house, but stay in another room unless we needed her help (for a non-breathing baby or shoulder distocia mainly)... that's the closest to a true-UC I could get my DH to agree to...
Anyways, the midwife that was going to support us that way is moving in June but had planned to come back in July and Aug. for a birth of my friends and my birth but told me today she doesn't want to anymore. It dissapoints me because I trust her so much - and because now I have to find someone else that is willing to do that (it's kind of a tall order). We have another three friends that are midwives (two that my DH knows and likes are kind of hands-on a lot - so I don't know if that would make me nervous the whole time or if they really could stay out of the way unless we needed them). The other I really like but I don't think DH would.
I reallllllly don't like having to change the plan, wrap my mind around an entirely different idea and place/person/etc. I am sure it will be worth the time and effort to find the best fit though so I'm not loosing hope... just a bit surprised by today's events - I had my hopes up.
