View Full Version : Does this sound like bad news....

I had light spotting at 6 weeks so went for an u/s. They found a fetus but it measured less than 6 weeks. There was a heartbeat but it was a little low. They told me not to worry they would just adjust the due date.

Anyhow, the whole thing never seemed quite right. With my DD I had horrible morning sickness. Implantation bleeding, etc. With this I never actually felt pregnant. The only reason I tested was b/c I missed my period. So anyhow, I was always skepticle that it would last.

So I had spotting again at 10 weeks. Went in and they couldn't find a heartbeat. Two days later I had bad cramping and passed waht I believed was the sac. I did have heavy bleeding but not very long. However, I've been having brownish bleeding for over a week now (since passing the sac).

At the 6 week mark my HCG was 10,000. When I went in for the second ultrasound it was down to 6500. A week after passing the sac it was 5300. Does this sound like maybe I didn't pass all the matter I needed to pass? Is the doctor going to push for a D&C now? Should I be concerned? I am going for another blood test this week & I have an OB appt on Thursday but I'm worried that my body hasn't done its job fully and they'll push for the operation. Anyone have a similar situation?

I can't answer your questions, but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am about your miscarriage. Many hugs to you, mama.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I did have a similar experience, in that I was also about 6 weeks along when the spotting started and then the levels continued to drop ever so slowly and I actually had light brownish bleeding for about 1 month straight. My midwife gave me the option of letting the miscarriage proceed naturally or going in the procedure. I chose to let it go naturally, and eventually it was resolved. Bright blessings for healing and wholeness to you.

thank you so much for asking.

I actually got some good news today. Turns out I was worrying needlessly. Apparently I misunderstood the message from the OBs office an my HCG level was not 5300 it was 53. Today it was down to 10. So it looks like by next week I will be good to know. It is nice to know that my body was able to take care of itself without medical intervention.

The OB also tried to reassure me it wasn't my fault although I never thought it was, I think she just felt bad. Anyhow, she reminded me that at almost 40 the miscarriage rate is almost 50%. She also urged me to try again asap since I'm not getting any younger. She didn't say it quite like that but that was the gist of it.

Thanks again for asking.

I'm sorry for your loss. For me, with my m/c (this was at 11+ weeks), it took until my first period after the m/c to get rid of everything. In fact that period was not a normal one, but more passing of placenta, etc. Everythingpassed naturally though. As long as you aren't filling a pad an hour or developing a fever, you should be fine - asssuming you want to go through this naturally, of course. Keep drinking plenty of liquids, eat healthy and avoid alcohol until your hormones are back to normal. Good luck.
