Question about training or schooling

I am in IL and want to become a doula and possibly a midwife..

What I don't know is..where do I start...Do you go to school or just kind of train on the job...

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

look into ALACE.org or DONA.org for doula training information...that is a great place to start.

There are so many different routes you can take to become a midwife, Paths to Becoming a Midwife is a good book to read to get various opinions on the different types of training.

Where and how are you planning on giving birth this May?

I am giving birth at the hospital in May...Not my first choice but it is the only affordable way with the insurance my dh and I have:(
