View Full Version : Vertex at last!
I haven't posted about my transverse-baby drama before now...but I've been watching the breech threads very closely, hoping to pick up some good tips.
DD had been persistently transverse (despite my best efforts) for over a month, and (at 36 weeks now), I was starting to get worried. My MW won't do a breech or transverse home birth, and I really, really, really want a home birth. I was starting to look into chiropractors, external version, etc. and getting a little stressed about it.
But at my MW appt. yesterday, she was clearly vertex and so well engaged in my pelvis that my MW doesn't think there's any chance she'll flip again.
Yay!!!!!!

That's great news! My little one likes to be posterior - I hope the little bugger turns OA by the time labor starts, one painful back labor was enough for me!
Thanks for sharing my glee, everyone. And yes, CaliMomof5, I hear ya on the back labor thing. DS's birth was ALL back labor--excruciating! I'm the pelvic-rock queen these days (and avoiding the couch like the plague) to prevent another OP labor.

Congrats, Tine! :thumb
I've been going through a bit of breech drama myself, with a stubborn baby who refuses to turn despite our best efforts. We're going to keep at it, though (it's the only way to have a homebirth here as well!); I'm only at 36 weeks today, so I'm still hopeful that she will shift in the next week or two.

Great to hear Tine! Yay for my due date buddy!
Now I am concerned... I definitely think my baby is still transverse as well.
My belly is wide and I get consistent kicks or punches on my right side and down further on the left side, and can feel a large, distinct lump on the left side..
I go to the Dr again on Thursday, so hopefully they will have news?
Should she be turned in there by now?

Well, they LIKE to see baby vertex by 37 weeks, but that's not to say that there isn't plenty of time for baby to turn after that. In fact, I have heard several stories recently of babies turning just before labor started, and my acupuncturist friend managed to turn a baby DURING labor!
Good luck, Kellykins. Do you find it funny that THREE of us due on the 28th are/were having positioning issues? Hopefully our babes will follow Tine's babe's example and get head-down soon!

It is weird, hm? Well hopefully they will figure it out sooner than later... :)
MY dh told me the same, that he read that some don't turn until during labor! eek! (my dh is a research-a-holic like me haha)
I wonder if my jeans that have recently become too tight by the end of the day around the lower belly is preventing her flip?
Yoga pants to work tommorow!! :D

Hmm. Your baby could be vertex already. During the weeks my babe was transverse, I would feel kicks and wiggles all across the top of my belly. (She was lying on her back, like in a hammock, giving her feet and hands excellent access to my entire rib cage.) Now that she's vertex (left occiput anterior), I feel all the kicks on my upper right side, occasional stre-e-e-e-tches across the top of my belly (when she's stretching her legs out), and a lump (her butt) on my middle left side. Her head is so low in my pelvis that I can't feel it at all. Well, except when she's head-butting my bladder. Then I can REALLY feel it! :lol

Same here. My good friend's breech babe turned spontaneously at 38 weeks. And my neighbor's baby was transverse going into labor--then turned vertex during labor.

I've got my fingers crossed for both of you. Think upside-down, babies!

YAY
I went to the Dr today, and he said "baby's head is right there" - meaning down and in "launch position" haha!
Turns out I was worrying over nothing and that my recent loss of breath (started like day before yesterday) is due to her flip!

Excellent, Kelly!!! So glad to hear it.
My little girl's hands are poking around inside my pelvis as we speak. She is way further down than she was; her head is very well engaged. I can breathe much better now than when she was breech!
