We had our sonogram today, actually two sonograms since they did the lump in my armpit also, but that one isn't really exciting.:lol

This tech was awesome and this was the first time that I got to see her do the entire thing. With the other three, the tech always had the screen turned toward her and just showed me the highpoints at the end. This time I got to see all the measuring and ask questions the whole time. Dh laughs at me, but hey, he got to see everything with all of them, this was my first time.

I found out that my placenta is indeed anterior and when I showed her where I thought it was on my belly she told me I was exactly right. Thus the reason I only feel very slight movements on the extreme right side of my belly and a few on the very lower right side. I guess I should be thankful and hope that means that I won't be pummelled later in the pregnancy -- wishful thinking.

We got just an awesome shot of the leg from top to bottom which I had never seen before. I was so captivated by this that I didn't think to look away, and although we didn't want to know the sex it was pretty obvious that.....

It's a....

BOY!!!!!

Yes, for those of you keeping count -- that makes four boys for me!!! I was so excited that I couldn't stop smiling. You'd think that I'd be slightly disappointed, but I'm totally not. After we left the sonogram I took ds to the mall to play at the playground and I thought that maybe I was really disappointed and it would show up later, but when I looked at the little girls playing I just thought "No, I really don't need one of those." I totally adore boys and I couldn't be happier. Heck, one accident and we could wind up with a basketball team.

I do feel sort of bad for dh who really wanted it to be a surprise (guess he should have looked away too) but he said that after the last appt when the heartrate was so low (130 at 17 weeks) that he was 99% sure it was a boy too. He didn't really want a girl necessarily so he's happy too.

I guess you can put that little boy stork by my name since it's now official and not just my feeling. All looked well in the sonogram and it was just so much fun.

Fabulous! Congratulations! I am so excited for you. Are you going to tell your boys? Your mom? I bet you keep it a secret from one of the two groups! I am so happy for you!

I hate this #@#^*# server!!!!!!!:angry

I had to get that out.

Dawn, I'm not good keeping secrets like this (obviously:lol ) so I'm pretty sure I'll spill the beans to my mom at some point. It's hard because I'm excited and would love to share my excitement with her, but it will ruin her day (as well as the next month or four) if I call and tell her. Sucks, huh.

The cool thing is that they just got new machines two weeks ago so instead of printing off pictures for you, they save some of the pictures to a dvd so we have about 5 really good shots, including an awesome one of that little thigh, leg and foot. I wish she would have printed off the shot of the penis because it literally looked like he was squatting right over the screen. Trust me, there's no mistaking that unit for an umbilical cord (which we also saw as she scanned through the penis.) I'll try and print them off for you to see. Well, for Dawn to see since she is my good friend in real life. I'm not sure how to get them from the DVD to MDC for everyone else to see.:lol How sad is it that I'm 36 and clueless about the darned computer. Well, you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks.

Congrats mama! You are such a positive breath of fresh air, for a mama that has one boy and desperately wanted a girl!

Actually, desperately wanted a healthy baby, which I have :) , but definitely also got feelings of dissapointment later in the evening even while knowing that I will love my little men so much! Just the post I needed to read!

Jish, congratulations to your basketball team in the making:D

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, and you know your newest boy is probably pummeling you somewhere else...like inner organs. :wink He's got to get ready to meet those brothers:love

Congrats Jish - 4 boys for me, too. Are you planning more after this? Feel free to tell me to butt out bc I know it's a personal question. Every boy is a complete joy, for me. Still, now I know I'm finished so I do wonder about that daughter that won't ever come.

This is our last planned child so our hope is to leave it at the 4 boys. To be totally honest, I have no desire for a girl. I was afraid that I would, but I don't have any longings or worries about what I'll be missing. I've always worked with kids in the past (as a teacher) and I find that I just enjoy the boys better at every age. There is a different dynamic with each group, as much as we would like to think that we can raise them alike, and I just enjoy that energy and honesty of boys. I'm moody enough -- more estrogen in this household could equal disaster.

I'm certainly not anti-girl, and since I don't know what I'll be missing, it's hard for me to imagine what raising a girl would be like. I'm sure it's wonderful and sweet, but I just feel very lucky that I feel like I'm gaining a son and not losing a daughter, KWIM?

As for that basketball team, frankly, I'm hoping that four is it, so my dh is just going to have to fill in.:lol I'll be the coach.:wink

CONGRATS!

I showed her where I thought it was on my belly she told me I was exactly right. Thus the reason I only feel very slight movements on the extreme right side of my belly and a few on the very lower right side. I guess I should be thankful and hope that means that I won't be pummelled later in the pregnancy -- wishful thinking.

That's exactly where I feel the movement, only on the right side, so I think my placenta is on the left and anterior. I won't have another u/s to confirm it though. All the MWs needed to know was that I didn't have placenta previa and that was shown in an u/s I had for bleeding at 10 wks.
