That to-do list thread has me EXHAUSTED.

Anyone else just trying to survive the next few weeks???

I dont have diapers-- ok, I have one cloth one....

I have not washed clothes, I have no system for dealing with dirty dipes, I have no pads, nothing for nursing....

But really, I just cant be bothered to care. Baby seems to be doing great, I've made it to 35 1/2 weeks without going into pre-term labor.....

And That's about all I can be bothered to care about!

All I've done is pick out the gender neutral newborn clothes from last time to be washed....at some point, along with the car seat cover, small blankets and so on. Oh yeah, and I ordered the birth kit but that's only b/c my mw expects it to be there when she comes for the 36th week appointment.

I'm more worried about getting my garden ready for spring and some planting in before baby comes. :lol I guess it's just that there's not that much to do if you already have the stuff, or at least it seems-- I'm also being a real opportunist and waiting to see what they get me at work before buying the few things (mainly cloth diapers and a sling) I was planning on.:lol

Or maybe I'm in final denial stages. :lol I'm going to do some of that BFW ice stuff this weekend though to work on labor prep at least.

Me too, Moosemommy, don't panic!
This baby is my second, so I've been just figuring we have it all set up, plus I work full-time and have a lot going on so I'm pretty distracted. But seeing the lists today did make me think about a bunch of stuff I'd like to do and a few we really do need to do before this baby comes in mid-April. Like, we did already get a new baby carseat but we have to install it. We have to get something to bathe the baby in. I have to wash the cloth diapers and get 'em ready, I can't believe I already did wash DS's tiny clothes and have them all set. I really do need to prepare some food for the freezer or we will all die of starvation (none of the relatives, nor DH, could possibly prepare meals that we could actually eat).
So, I'm pretty easygoing and zen-like about all this, but I feel good about having thought about this and now I do have a little list for myself!

I haven't done much other than prewash baby clothes. I want to buy the rest of the "bare bones" supplies by mid-March (bassinett, a couple dozen prefolds, more diaper covers, car seat, sling, nursing bras). I'm also waiting to see what I get at my baby shower which will likely be in late March. My EDD is not until mid-April so I think I have a few more weeks!

I really don't have the urgency feeling, either. Except for a little bit at work -- 5 weeks left, and I've started packing up my stuff. But at home, I'm really a slacker! JUst trying to survive, I guess, and relax and enjoy my last few weeks of being just me! I have 2 showers coming up in 2 weeks, so maybe I'm waiting until they are over to see what else we might "need" (really don't want much, but people seem to want to buy us stuff). :innocent

Ah, yes. We didnt end up getting a shower, and I'd sooooo counted on it. That's a huge part of why nothing is done. :p

That, and it literally takes everything I have to work my 20 hours from the sofa. :irked:

Hi, my name is Pique... and I'm a slacker...

This is my third child, but the last one was over 6 years ago so, I have pretty much nothing anymore. That other thread exhausts (and scares!) me completely!

I've bought a couple of newborn outfits and prewashed them. I ordered diapers yesterday. That's all I've done. :eek

The only reason I have diapers is cause I work at a cloth diapering store. :wink

And clothes was one shopping trip. :lol

But otherwise, I am just trying to make it to March 20th....then we will be moved into our new place, it will be painted and clean, and I will have my 36 week visit the next day. I will be done with one of my jobs - so I will be down to working 10 hours a week until baby comes. Now if DH can just get the house packed (I am currently useless) and we can get a fridge in the new place before we move....things will be good.

I am also being opportunistic...waiting for a baby shower that I am prety dang sure is NOT gonna happen. Or for my family to stop being losers and actually get something for the baby. :lol Which is also not going to happen. I never realized how annoying having a mother who won't give me anything until the baby is born really is...:shake

Otherwise, I am a total slacker...by the time 9pm rolls around...I am lying in bed. This weekend is gonna be crazy!

We are so unprepared for this baby.

Right now we don't even have a car that will fit our family once she is born. We are moving a few months after she is born, so all I have been doing is looking for housing. Now that that is done, I can some what get ready for the baby. But we have only 2 cloth diapers and about 3 or 4 outfits that will fit when she gets home.

I am so glad that I am not the only one. I have no energy to nest:lol .

Totally slacking.

My bedroom is a big mess and I have to reorganize a bunch of stuff before I will feel like laboring in there.

I haven't gone through baby clothes OR diapers to see what we need and I know we will need some of both. Some boyish nb clothes and at least some new covers, if not a few new dipes.

I haven't even ordered my birth kit! (Better get on THAT one asap!)

Of course I didn't mention doing taxes which MUST be done before baby gets here, there's no way I can do them after and DH can't do them and I can't give them to an accountant for various reasons. Blah.

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I posted on the other thread but pretty much have gotten nothing done up until yesterday :bag: I'm 36 weeks on Tuesday which also happens to be my homevisit, so I knew I had to at least get the homebirth supplies ready by then so I started working on that yesterday (which I should have started weeks ago). I had some really uncomfortable BH for awhile last night at bedtime (I actually started wondering if I should time them, wake up DH, etc but then I fell asleep and they were gone when I woke up) and I am feeling like I can hardly walk because the baby is so low in my pelvis. That was kinda a wake up call to me last night to hurry up and get the basics taken care of like washing the clothes/diapers, installing the carseat, etc. So thats all I'm working on today...finally getting some stuff done...oh yeah and telling the baby he must stay in 10 more days because I want a homebirth :D Just taking it one small task at a time though...

First babies in my family tend to ARRIVE at 36 weeks, I'm ideally aiming at 39 cause I have so much still to do..... right now, I'm trying to stay focused on keeping Baby in til 37, when I can have a Birth Center (not hospital) birth... but at the same time, I've contemplated just at least tossing the car seat in the car so that it's THERE should we need it! :p

DH is taking a "sick" day today :thumb and we're going to buy SOAP so I can wash those clothes!

Anyone else notice that car seats and strollers STINK? I know it's not just my super sensitive pregnant nose, cause even DH is complaining.... I'm thinking of tossing them out in the sun for a while today (sun? in Seattle in March?!?!) ... see if that helps!

Yes they do smell when they are new...and when they are 2 years old and covered in toddler snack droppings :rolleyes :lol I sprayed down the stroller cover with some oxyclean type spray (yeah I know real natural :bag: but I couldn't get the cover off) and let it sit outside last weekend for a little bit. No more stains and smells like nothing again. I washed the carseat cover (and dd's convertible carseat cover too...that was NASTY :gross ) and put the carseat in the car this morning, so one thing down off my list. Does the cover come off the carseat you have? You might try washing it in some gentle detergent like whatever you plan on using for the baby's clothes, with cold water and then airdrying. I think I remember doing that before dd was born because I couldn't stand that plasticky smell. Add me to the list too. I have lots diapers sewn, but I need to snap them, but that causes me to have a ton of contractions. I have a ton of clothes unwashed and other then that not much else. I have my old slings and my mom got me a diaper bag so I guess theres not too much besides cleaning and organizing.....,

No, you are not the only one. I only started washing clothes and diapers last week, so I am not too far ahead of you. I am not panicked at all. I would like to have a labor/hospital bag packed at some point, but other than that, I feel okay.

I have said it once and I will say it again - there is not much you need to do. Truly. Get some clothes and blankets for the babe (and a couple of hats), some diapers, and maybe a sling. Have a place earmarked where the baby will sleep (even if you just know it will be with you guys). Read up on breastfeeding and know what to expect (and don't be afraid to go to a lactation consultant during the first few days, even just for reassurance). You might want a boppy or a breastfeeding pillow. Get a car seat - that will be essential. Other than that, all the other stuff is extra and not really necessary. The baby won't care if his or her crib sheets match the room decor. All the other stuff you can pick out later, after you have parented a newborn for a bit and know what you really will want and need.

It cracks me up how prepared some new moms feel like they need to be. There is so much junk we buy for our babies that we don't need.

ME! ME! Pick ME! :lol I have nothing, and I mean NOTHING done! No diapers, wipes, anything! I really need to get my fanny in gear and get out into FIL's garage where all of DDs baby stuff is stored and get out stuff! All of those gender neutral things, boppy, blankets, swing, carseat, stroller, breast pump, etc., etc., etc! *sigh* But just the mere THOUGHT of doing this makes me tired! :lol

I, too, am just so exhausted that it is hard to get anything done! And top it off with a 3 1/2 yo... Can you see where I am going here? DH isn't much help as he works full time and goes to school at night... *sigh* And I am carrying thsi babe SO low! I carried DD so high so I never had to deal with the lower back pain and the severe pelvic pain (til she dropped WAY low at 32 weeks...) like I am this time around! This baby is just so dang low that I don't think this kid CAN drop - except to drop out! :lol I think that REALLY contributes to my not really wanting to do anything! :lol It just hurts to much to move around a lot!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that you aren't alone! (And I don't even have a to do list yet! THAT'S how much *I* am procrastinatng! :lol) But, I am "only" 31.5 weeks, so I hopefully have more time! LOL (Although DD was 2 weeks early, so if I have this one early as well, I won't have as much time as I think! Ha ha ha)

The only reason that I have any diapers for BellyBean is that she's the third baby, not the first. :shrug

I'm not expecting any help from anyone, no presents of clothing, diapers, or anything remotely useful at all, so it's not like I'm waiting for anything to happen.

i just got back from buying: laundry detergent for baby, a pack of disposables to get us thru passing the mec, two baskets to use as nursing/diaper change stations, and baby soap and oil.

Um... to get this done, DH took a sick day and went with me.:love

I AM EXHAUSTED!!! (we also got a TON of groceries, including a case of wine..... :p I feel much more ready now....)

I haven't done a lot yet either. I'm at 32 weeks last baby came 2 weeks early and I really wasn't prepared the one before came 10 days late.

Here's what I have done:

I sewed a diaper bag just need to put a closure on it but it's big enough to put the baby in!!!!!!!! Might try a smaller one too. I have washed some baby clothes friends gave me and a few things from the thrift store. I love .39 cent day at the Salvation Army. I still have more to wash.

Diapers- We had a fire 2 1/2 years ago luckily most of the diapers were in the one room with no burning. Also 2 friend gave me some diapers most are pre-folds but that will work too. I was hoping to sew a few cute diapers. I did get the material cut out!

Don't have a car seat yet. I need to make a list of things we need because my church is having a shower later this month. I had trouble with the Target near us my gift registry didn't work at the store so went home and made one but there is so much stuff we won't use, don't need so all it has on it is a Rocker/Glider for me and baby and a couple nogender onsies and sleepers.A lot of stuff you have to order over the internet.

Also we either need to get a twin mattress or a king size bed. 5 yr old still sleeps with us and she is a bed hogger so a twin bed by our queen might work better till we move all our girls around.

I really want to have a lot of freezer foods ready too. NOt done yet.
Find somewhere or thing to hold the babies clothes.
