They said that the baby is 6lbs 12oz today at the u/s. I'm 37w 2d as of today. The dr told me to go home and DTD twice a day until labor...even wrote a Rx for my husband. :lol DH just said...Sorry, sweetie! He's not interested.
The peri wants me to give birth within the next 2 weeks. I see my ob tomorrow and will see what he says.
I'm gonna take a long walk through Wal-Mart tomorrow and see if we can get some contractions going on! I hate going to Wal-Mart, but at least it is air conditioned. The humidity is awful lately! Thank God I'm not going to pg during the summer!

Lori Ann, don't let them bully you into giving birth before she's ready to come! You can have a big baby just fine. And she's not big yet. 2 weeks is a long time to worry about it! Relax. She will tell you when she's ready. ;)
In the meantime, go read some Henci Goer. http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/plabor/0,,8nbq,00.html Give that peri what-for! :D

Also, don't forget that u/s estimates can be off by up to 2 pounds! Unless you have some other health concerns you haven't mentioned, there's no reason to try to hasten labor based on a size estimate. Women have been giving birth in the baby's own time long before there were u/s to tell us how "big" the baby would be!
And I agree with the pp... I think every woman should read Henci Goer before giving birth!

I'm not sure what DTD is, but then again, I don't know why everyone puts a "d" before the "h" for husband or the "d" for daughter. I guess I'm just not with it.
But, I do agree with these other mommas. When your baby and body are ready, you'll go into labor. At every single appointment my doctors mentioned inducing me. Every single time I ask them, "why, is there something wrong with the womb or the baby?" Every single time, they tell me no. Doctors are great but sometimes they can get annoying. Good luck. It's hard being this far along, wanting to give birth, wanting to do what's best for your baby, and questioning an expert all at the same time. But, if you're not comfortable then your intuition must be guiding you.

Hello
I just wanted to mention to ya that maybe you shouldnt put so much into the US weights...I knew someone who was told their baby was 7 lbs so she decided to induce 3 weeks early and well babe came out 5 lbs, no serious health problems but babe was obviously to early.
I know its hard to wait, but it cant do anything but good at this point if your health is ok.
just my two cents.

DTD means doing the deed...AKA-sex
DH is Dear hubby...or Dam* Hubby...whichever fits :lol
I have no desire to be induced. DH doesn't want me to be induced. I just really think that this baby is better off coming out on her own.
I have told my dr this, DH even told my dr this.
Their concerns are the size of the baby and my fluid levels have gone down in the past 2 weeks from 11 to 9. Dr wants another u/s to check the fluid levels tomorrow or Sunday again.
I'm ready to have this baby in my arms, but I would really rather wait a couple of weeks!

Make sure you drink a lot of water and are super-hydrated before your u/s. It can make a difference in the way your levels check out.
Is there a reason they started checking your amniotic fluid levels to begin with, or is it just routine u/s for that practice?
Sometimes I think having too much info does more harm than good!
Good luck on your u/s and I hope everything looks great!

Even IF the ultrasound weight is correct, you're only a few ounces (ounces!) over the average weight of a baby at that week of gestation.
http://www.pregnancy.org/pregnancy/fetaldevelopment3.php
Besides, those ultrasounds, no matter how high-tech, are notorious for overestimating weight. They said my son would be 8.5 pounds, and when he was born two days later he was 7.0 pounds. The estimate was such a big deal in the mind of my OB (and his increased pressure to induce), that this pregnancy I declined the ultrasound.
Your body will NOT create a baby it can't birth. So don't sweat it. :hug
Oh--and yes, by all means, drink drink drink the 24 hours before your next fluid level check. In my own experience it can make a HUGE difference.
Best of luck!
