Here's an old question that's been asked probably 1000 times! (I am too lazy to search the archives), so- When can you expect to get AF after a m/c??? Three or four weeks? Five or six? I know people have irregular periods sometimes after a m/c. I was interested in an average. Had my m/c around six weeks ( it took three weeks to actually happen).

brooke,
i had my period a few days later than it would have come normally. they say that you body may treat the m/c like a regular period, but with my m/c, i bled for 2-3 extra days, and my cycle was 2-3 days longer on the other end.
i was charting temps and i know i didnt ovulate. i was relieved to get my period back in a timely manner. i was expecting it to be longer. then, after my first post-m/c period, i ovulated on schedule. but i wouldn't have been too surprised it i hadn't, i was not really expecting to get back on track for a little while longer. i know it will vary from woman to woman, but that doesn't help very much does it?! hope that helps...

I actually looked this up earlier today and read that it generally comes back 4-7 weeks after a m/c....that is a pretty big window of time. I went ahead and marked the calendar four weeks out so I'll know to expect it sometime after that. I'm curious to read about other peoples experiences.

Hasn't happened yet for me (hi again, Brooke!) but my mw said it could happen *anytime* between m/c and 6 weeks from m/c. He (yes, one of the mw in my practice is a he) said that my body might ovulate any time in there, too. He said that it all depends on how quickly the hcg dropped for you, and that differs for everyone.
I'm not charting (haven't figured out how to do temps when my 2 yo wakes me up anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 and needs me AT THAT MOMENT). :) I decided I'd figure that out *after* my period returns.

FWIW, try a spit microscope... it's a better fit for a co-sleeping mama.. i think the real name is "ovu-scope." your saliva changes when you become fertile, just like your CM.

I have read that the average is betweem 4 and 8wks after a m/c. With my 1st m/c the fetus died at 7 wks and i m/c at 12.5 wks. It took 10 wks for af to arrive and then another 8 wks to really o. I am 2.5 wks past my 2nd m/c which was at 6 wks. I still don't think i have o'd and don't really know when i will. sorry, i don't think that this helps much.:innocent
