View Full Version : Successful VBAC's using Hypnobirthing?
Has anyone used hypnobirthing for a successful VBAC? I am going to use it for baby #2 in May, and hope to hear some positive stories. TIA!

i took the classes and it was very useful. i wasnt good at practicing though, so im prob. not a really good candidate to chime in but it was very useful to take the classes, believe in myself, and get dh on board with the birth center, etc.
good luck!
oh, and i had 2 c/s's before...it was prob. more the MW trusting in my body and getting away from my doc. but the HB did help.

i think hypnobirthing can be a fantastic tool for all moms wanting to birth naturally, it has been my experience that you get out of it what you put in, which means doing your relaxation every day, etc. FANTASTIC! I wish all my moms did hypnobirthing.

I took a hypnobirthing class and one of the women in it was going for a VBAC (she had first baby vaginal, second cesarean, and was having her third). We both used the class instructor as our doula and I heard that she got her VBAC (unfortunately now I will be having to do a VBAC for my next birth). The doula told me that the birth went really well and she did great. She ended up asking for an epidural (due to something her mom had said about wanting her to be comfortable - the power of words!) and when the anesthesiologist was in the room about to put the epidural in the baby's head popped out!

Hello there... I used hypnobirthing for our first child, who ended up arriving via C-section due to being transverse... but we labored (hard, with pitocin and preeclampsia) for over 72 hours, and hypnobirthing helped me stay calm and very focused. I am so thankful that my OB was familiar with hypno, and so supportive to allow me to labor as long as I safely could (we obviously didn't know Eli was transverse!). I could not feel more strongly about the benefits of using hypnobirthing. It made the whole thing a really beautiful experience, even with all of the challenges. It made me go to a deeper place inside myself that i will always remember. And I plan on using it again, hopefully with a VBAC next time. (In fact, I am consulting with a new OB in the a.m. to see if he is VBAC friendly... we no longer live by that awesome doc). Anyway, this was a long response, but I just wanted to add my experience with using hypnobirthing as an amazing tool. I am sure you will do great! The best wishes to you in your birthing experience. Michelle
Thanks for all your positive comments. I took the class in November and practice almost every day, so I am really optimistic about it. I have heard so many good success stories w/ HB and many of my friends have had wonderful births using it, but it is nice to hear it helps with VBAC as well. :wink

another pro-hypnobirthing response here!
i practiced hypnobirthing and had a HBAC last march. i was very relaxed through nearly all of my labor and comfortable...but let's put it this way...the last hour 1/2 i definately didn't "breathe" my baby down! i took a much more active, loud role! i think the guided relaxation really helped but i think a major part of it for me was the positive attitude and visualization, as well as the trust in my body. i highly recommend it!
side note: i wore headphones and would press play to hear marie monagen's voice every time a surge came on! she was my savior for a while there!
have a beautiful birth.
