I'm so excited! Last time I had the seat installed by now, LOL. :)

We we waffling between the Graco SafeSeat and just going straight for the Britax Decathlon. We finally decided to do the SafeSeat for the few times it will be convenient to have a carrier (I don't plan on using it much though), and because we plan on having more children, so we'll just buy a Britax when the baby otgrows the SafeSeat, and it will be ready for the next one.

We splurged and got the G Collection fabric from this website (http://www.babychanges.com/product/G8A02GGG.html), which was the cheapest by about seven dollars, LOL. What can I say, I like a bargain. :lol

I really like the infant insert, and the boot has a flap that can come up to cover baby's whole body, not just the feet, so we don't have to buy one of those elastic covers. I'm not sure about the whole idea of a carrier, because we went straight to a convertible with Olivia, but DH insists that the convenience is worth it with two. Since it goes to 32" and 30#, I'm all for it! Although Livi is 32" and 24#, and she is too tall for it, so I know we'll be buying a convertible anyway...it's okay, it's all for the next baby, right?

What carseat will you be using? I'm a carseat freak, LOL. :D

We got a SafeSeat, too. DS was 20# at 4 months, so I really like the idea of being able to use the infant seat longer than than. Probably when newbaby is about a year old, we'll make the investment in another Marathon.

We have the Britax Companion (which is an infant carrier carseat). Although I started with a Britax Roundabout with my first dd, when I tried it again with my 2nd dd (who was a lb larger at 9lb8oz) it just seemed too big. So I bought the Companion and moved her into the Advantage once she outgrew it (which we had bought by then to replace the Roundabout - it has a nice adjustable shoulder strap feature that their other seats don't have). Anywho, we now have:

dd1 (5yo): Britax Marathon
dd2 (2yo): Britax Marathon (still have the Advantage in storage)
newbaby3: Britax Companion
newbaby4: Britax Companion

Once they outgrow the carriers (which was about 4 months old for dd2 - we have big babies) then we'll move them into (probably) Marathons or maybe one Marathon one Advantage and move dd1 into a booster (I'd prefer to keep her in a 5pt harness as long as possible)??? I just don't know. But I love Britax so I'll stick with them throughout regardless.

We went with a Graco for now and a Britax for later.

Grats on your decision and purchase!

Congrats :) We went with a Graco snugride for the beginning and will be using either a Britax marathon or decathalon afterwards. we were going to go straight for the Britax seat, but it just gets so hot here in AZ during the summer I like the idea of taking the seat out of the car in between uses so its not so hot. We covered Seans seat and mist it yet it still gets so warm. Plus, I was looking at the sure fit and snug ride car seats and I found a brand new one on clearance with the stroller I will probably never use for $25 for the set. While l liked the size range of the sure fit better, I couldnt pass up the bargain and my babies tend to be small for a long time. Sean is almost 4 and is 28 lbs. He was over 2 before he even hit the 20 lb mark so hopefully this babe will fit in it for a while.

Woohoo! I bet its a relief to have that off your list to do :thumb We are just reusing dd's infant carseat/carrier/stroller system which is a Cosco Safety First one (looks JUST like an Eddie Bauer). We'll probably get him a Cosco Alpha Omega convertible in about 6 months...that is what dd is in and we really like it.

Does taking both carseats for a test drive in a new car we're interested in count?
I dug up our infant car seat from ds (Graco Snugride) and we took that and ds's Britax Marathon car drooling last weekend (we're about a year or so away from *actually* shopping/buying). I think I had dh put the carseat in the guest room for the time being. Besides, I need to wash the cloth part of it anyway because there's a fun amount of dust on it from storage.
I'm not exactly sure which convertible car seat we're going to get for this bean - depends on how ds is doing in the Marathon in the fall (when we anticipate the babe outgrowing the length on the bucket - ds was only 16lbs at 12mo).
