Ok, I didn't actually just figure this out. I've known for awhile that foreskins have a protective purpose, but I just got to see it in action. :lol
My DS woke up yesterday with a horrible beet red rash on his penis/scrotum. This is a kid who never gets diaper rash. Other than a yeast rash as a newborn and some allergy-type rashes before I eliminated dairy from my diet when he was younger, this kid has never had a diaper rash.
So to see his poor stuff all red kind of freaked me out. He went diaperless all day yesterday except for naptime. Today the redness is gone, but in it's place is a horrible crusty THING. You know how when you get a really bad sunburn and your skin actually gets hard before the top layer dies and falls off? That's what it looks like. I can tell it's healing, though.
At least it's on his foreskin and not his glans! Is this the kind of thing that starts desensitizing the glans in circ'ed boys? Other than constant exposure, I mean.
