I'm having a miscarriage right now, and the bleeding is getting kinda heavy. my mw told me more than one pad an hour is too much, but I use cloth, so is it the same? Also, for how long. I mean, the first hour I saturate a pad should I go, or what? Trying not to call them so eARly, hoping to get a response here.

{{{{HUGS}}}}}mama, I am sorry for what you are going through right now.

In response to your question, I find my pads don't soak as much as the commercial disposable types, so I guess more than one an hour is possibly normal, that being said: you are obviously concerned, so I would call my midwife to check, just in case.

Take care

I would definately call your midwife, better to be safe than sorry. I can tell you that, when I hemorrhaged after my son's birth, I KNEW that it wasn't right...I was light headed, and the blood and clots were coming so fast. But even if it's a little heavier than you think it should be, you should call. It could get bad fast, so early intervention is better than late.

Cloth pads are really different, they're like cloth diapers. Soaking a cloth pad happens much faster than a commercial one. What are the pads made of and how fast are you soaking them?

Thanks for all the replies. I just had to lay down and the bleeding slowed. I use glad rags. Anyway, I'm hardling bleeding at all now since passing the tissue. Just as I was getting really worried. Thanks again.

I am sorry for what you are going through... :hug

With Glad Rags, though they are very absorbent, they are not as superabsorbent as disposeables. I would say if you are soaking through 2 gladrags per hour that is cause for concern. Or if you are having any pain, dizziness, etc. have someone stay with you perhaps if you are ok with that, just to give you some tlc...

Glad you found a way to get more comfortable. Rest, rest and do whatever you need to emotionally. If you have any concerns at all you should call in without hesitation, just to be sure and to lessen your burden. If you like herb teas at all some red raspberry and nettle would be helpful to you and just plain tastes good. Add a little mint and take good care of yourself. Peace, :Hug
