I should have known my obsessive need to spackle all the cracks in the bathroom meant something. Wish me luck! I have a feeling this might be a long one since I have had barely any cramping so far - although DH is a good 4 hours away so that might be OK. :thumb

Reading my first post and laughing....
Took my time getting to the hospital, thinking I had a good 12-24 hours since I had had no dilation a few days before, and only minor BHs that day. I was a little upset because I know if your water breaks and there's no dilation it can be a long, rough trip. We stopped to drop off the dog, clean the house, pack some more things, and I debated about whether to call my husband or not. Got to the hospital and the OB on call checked me in at 5 cm - still no serious contractions but 5 cm was exciting!! They paged my midwife, but she of course thought we'd be working all night and didn't come in right away. I quietly worked through a few contractions that weren't great, but I got through them. I couldn't understand why the nurse kept asking me if I knew I was having one. Suddenly at the end of one of the contractions a powerful push completely came out of nowhere, all by itself, and I said "I have to push!" (No husband yet) The nurse started yelling "Don't push, don't push!" She ran for the midwife and within 30 minutes he was out! My husband made it with 20 minutes to spare and by sheer luck my mother in law was there as well. It was a quick natural hospital birth and everything happened just the way I wanted it to. I'll post a birth story soon - I practically had to fight off the epidural, and after refusing the erythromycin and Hep B we got a lot of flak from the peds, residents, students, nurses, etc. - but thrilled to be home and happy to have a healthy, pleasant, baby boy.
Thanks for all your good wishes!
