Interestingly it is from an OB's perspective, a well informed and compassionate OB. http://www.eheart.com/cesarean/oliver.html
If only we had all had such gentle cesearean births.

Thanks for the response, I see lots of people have looked at the OP but no one had responded yet. I thought the article was pretty insightful. Would love to hear what other thought.

Sounds a helluva lot better than my c-section, although honestly I'm not sure I'd ever feel a c-section is a humane way to birth (speaking for myself.) Thanks for posting it. :)

Thanks for sharing that article. :)
Though I am still af firm believer in VBAC, it's nice to know that there are "gentler" cesarean options when it doesn't work out or when VBAC just isn't possible.

I agree that a vaginal birth is almost always the ideal, before or after a csect. But I know that in some instances a csect is the best thing for mom and baby(certainly not as often as the medical model would have us believe). Wouldn't it be nice if in those situations where a sect was necessary there were doctors like this to perform the surgery.

Beautiful! He sounds so respectful and wise!
My daughter was born by cesarean. My midwife's husband was the OB. He was great - the whole team was! It was not an emergency, so there was room to be flexible. We waited until I was ready. We had my MW, husband, and sister there to support me and my baby. They found a CD player so that I could listen to my favorite music. They rubbed me down with my favorite aromotherapy oils. They were so quiet and kind and respectful. Though it was not the birth I had planned, it was beautiful!
My son was born by VBAC 3.5 years later. That was really hard, but great. I imagine if I had another, I would choose a VBAC (but I'm honestly not certain). But, if I was faced with a cesarean again, I would insist on a beautiful birth again!
