So, after 4 weeks of bedrest due to gestational hypertension, and a threat of induction, my water broke on Mon night and I delivered my beautiful baby girl naturally on Tues afternoon. This was quite an experience! I didn't think it would be like this but everything went well. Except for the back labor! I never thought my baby would be posterior and the mw was telling me that the baby was in the correct position. But I give any woman credit for being able to handle back labor! IT's AWFUL!!! I got to the point of not being able to deal w/it anymore when the nurse suggested water papules. The MW injected sterile water into my back in four places. After 1 minute the back labor was basically gone! I couldn't believe it! It only lasts about an hour, but what a godsend! At the point when she injected me I was 7 cm and after 10 min I was 10cm and ready to push! I had my baby after 1 hour of pushing. I can't believe all of it! I am so happy to be a mommy. I am trying to get used to the sleep deprivation. But she is so very worth every minute!
Take care ladies and remember water papules if you have back labor.
Jen

Congratulations and good work, Jen -- and welcome to the world, Shelby!

I've been reading about the sterile water block for years (research shows it's amazingly effective) but until now, have NEVER heard of anyone actually getting it. I'm so glad your nurse thought of it and that it worked so well for you!

I'm STILL slapping myself in the head for forgetting to ask about that while in excruciating back labor w/ DS. :duh
