the hospital?

This what I seen while I volunteer and please answer question which most of is in the subject part of this. Sorry, not making sense in advance.

Seen some parents with those babies come in to see their doctor for a check ups. Theres a particular set of parents with their baby been in NICU was born way too early. This what I heard from one of my co-workers. The mom with thats baby pregnancy was horrible, was in, out of the hospital before the baby came along. Don't know if they had problems with infertity as I rember. After the baby was in there one time then came out and was back in there. After he came out of the NICU for the 2nd time. The baby was still having problems they fixed it. After that, saw them for a couple of months, then saw them for the last time a couple of months that. They told me and I could see that he didn't have nothing in his body for breathing, so I was glad for all of them, but they weren't be taking him anywhere until this spring. Saw the mom and him again while was waiting for my dad to pick me up after I was my volunteering that day. So he had the breathing tube back in again, don't know for how long.

Hopefully this will not happen to another baby, whos grandmother, I talked to a couple of times and kept a eye out for her mother and her as well because I don't the same thing happen to them as the family I mention above. Think they finally bought the baby home wednesday evening after extra month because the baby didn't gain anough weight for it to go home when it was purpose go home.

Think thats it.

Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand what your question is.Why can't premmies/NICU babies need be isolated all the time when they go home from.. the hospital? They don't need to be isolated from their parents but they are more susceptible to catching germs from others so they shouldn't be out visiting lots of other people for awhile.

Sounds like this particular baby had lots of trouble breathing. Poor guy.

Heather,

Didn't mean their parents of course not.

Thank you.

When we brought our preemie home from the NICU we kept her away from people for a couple of weeks, and then we still kept her away from large crowded public places like the grocery store for a couple of months until well after her due date. Depending on how premature a baby is, and how stable their condition is, most parents of preemies will do something similar. Some parents of preemies keep their babes away from crowds for much longer, especially during the winter when germs are going around. We didn't do that becuase we felt that our little girl was healthy enough to tolerate crowds, but we are lucky that she didn't have any sever health problems.
