I know, you all are probably sick of hearing about how wonderful my MW is, but with a 35 week provider switch she's still all new and exciting and I just can't help raving about her! :lol

We made our appointment for today so MIL could come and see the birth center because she had expressed interest, plus she lives the closest to the birth center (the only family/friends within an hour) if anyone is there for the birth, it will be her. She chatted with the MW and got some information from her on becoming a doula (!) and asked all sorts of awesome questions. I think she really wishes she would have considered a birth center/homebirth with her three kids. She borrowed a birth book from my MW's library too!

My actual appointment was great... She says she thinks I'm baking a 7 pounder in there, I know could have done it either way, but I'm glad I'm not working on a 10 pounder, reguardless! :lol BP was a little low, and I only gained .5lbs... wierd, I'm usually on the high side for the weight gain (40lbs so far)

We went out to one of my favorite restaurants for lunch. (I don't get to go often, the closest one is about 1.5 hours from here) We dropped off MIL and she was SO sweet. She was talking about how great it was that I was going this route with the birth/baby, and got all teary eyed and thanked me. (Kind of the reaction I think I would have if my DIL was making the kind of choices I am!) I didn't even know what to say to her. Then I poked DH and kidded him that if we ever split up I get his mom in the settlement :lol

DH and I took a nice (unplanned scenic route) trip out to a baby store to look for a nursing stool (found it!) and a desprately wanted moses basket (didn't find it and I refuse to pay $100 for it at BRU) and then we took a nice (also unplanned scenic route) drive home. We chatted about the baby and how excited we are.. etc.

Baby DROPPED today while we were out shopping, all of a sudden I was really uncomfortable, and his feet are out of my ribs (woohoo! I can breathe!)

My BBS have also been leaking like crazy all day. They seriously haven't stopped, and if this is any indication of how much milk I'm going to have, this baby better be a big eater! I wonder if all the new and continous leaking means labor is soon??? (Well, I guess iit IS soon in the grand scheme of things!)

So all in all, it was a great day (minus not finding that stupid moses basket! :angry ) Tomorrow is the not-nearly-as-fun clean the house & put away the groceries day :lol

Hey, Dawn, that's great! I'm glad your MIL is supportive of, and interested in, your birth choices. Lucky you!

For what it's worth, we had a Moses basket for Meg and it lasted all of about 5 weeks. As soon as she'd fling her arms out to sleep (as an unswaddled baby will do), she'd hit the sides of the basket and cry. It was a total waste of money for us.

But a birthing stool? Good find! I think you'll be happy it turned out that way, and not the other way around. :)

Happy baking!

warmly,
Kam, mamamama! to Meg and one more, due March 20

That's so great you had a nice day. My new MW came over for the home visit and my Mother and MIL were there. The MW was great about answering all of their questions. My MIL is not as crazy about the homebirth. My mom doesn't seem to have any reservations. She just wants to know how to best support me. They are both great. My MIL will be watching my 2yr.

Yeah, that's why I refuse to pay $100 for it :lol I only want it for the very begining while I'm recovering because our couch is SOOOO squishy there is now way I'd feel comfortable napping there with the baby, and I just don't think I'd feel like climbing in and out of bed all day. I've been trying to think of alternatves, but the only think I can think of is the swing, and I just don't like the idea of putting a brand new baby any further away from me than nessicary.

I'm sure I'll come up with something, neccessity is the mother of invention, after all :)

Depending on how much time she is going to be in it, the car seat can work.

But what I've always used those first few weeks is a laundry basket.:wink

Congrats on your great mw appointment! And, wow, I'd want your MIL in any settlement, too!

I'm so glad you feel so good about your new MW! That's awesome. :D

FWIW, my baby dropped on Wednesday night and I went into labor very early Saturday morning. On Friday night (so just hours before I went into labor) I felt what I could swear was a let-down (although I do not leak at all during pregnancy so that may be different for me).

Good luck! :love
