She is just over 3yo & has always coslept with us. She usually nurses to sleep.
Just to show how secure cosleeping children are:
2 nights ago we were having a late dinner. She got down from the table after finishing her own meal...but not before we were finished. After about 10 minutes we wondered why we couldn't hear her or why she hadn't come back out to the kitchen. I went to check on her & found her in our bed in "her spot" (dead centre) with the blankets pulled up. She looked like a little angel...so peaceful!
She has done that a few times before (sometimes during the day...although she doesn't go down for a nap each day)
She knows that if she's tired she can crawl into "our bed" and sleep. When she wants to get up- she does. She has no insecurities about being left alone or that bedtime is something to be dreaded.
I feel so sorry for babies that are put to sleep in cribs in different rooms & left to cry.
(I feel so guilty that we actually did this with our first...if only we could turn back the clock...interesting that he never slept thru the night until after 3yo)
She has her own bedroom, with her own bed. As far as she's concerned that's just where her toys & clothes are kept.
Ask her to show you her bed & she'll take you to the master bedroom. :lol
I know co-sleeping isn't always easy...and I've definately had moments when I've thought I was going nuts due to lack of sleep...but at the end of the day I am so delighted to be crawling into bed to curl up to her warm little body to smell her hair and hear her breathing. (Even if she does lay sideways on top of the blankets, kicking them off of me & insist on nursing several times :lol )
