Anyones incision hurt even when they are not pregnant? I have had 2 c/s and my incision hurts so much sometimes I have to stop walking and lean over and press against it ... any idea what the heck that is about? I hate it. It makes me so angry. (My youngest child is 18 months so its not like its new or anything)

I'm sorry that you're in pain. I think it can be normal to have all kinds of different pain for many years, if not for the rest of your life, after a c/s. (don't remember the doctor telling me THAT risk)

Though I don't have incision pain, I do have other pain in my lower abdomen and I am certain it has to do with my c/s. I only have one child, one c/s, and it's been 2y, 3m since my c/s.

Just add it to my list of things of why I hate my c/s.

I had my c section 2 years ago and I have some discomfor sometimes when I am, uh, trying to poop :o . It's not bad just a feeling that wasn't there before. It's gotten better with time. I hope you don't have to deal with this for long.

Sounds like it might be adhesions from the c/s. I remember feeling those twinges, even stabbing pain, before I had man cub #3. :irked: Sorry that you are having to deal with it.

Yet another thing that sOB's don't tell you about when they make a c/section seem like no big deal!!

It could be adhesions...I had something similar and still get some pain along one side of my incision (after a year). If you can't find a massage therapist who works with adhesion pain, you can try scar massage. It's often recommended after surgery (especially surgery on the ab area) although for some reason Ob/Gyns don't seem to know much about it!

You can learn more about scar massage in the Natural Family Living c/s information sticky in Birth & Beyond http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=401645 or by checking a site like http://www.thehipdoc.com/scar.htm

I've also found that my incision hurts more when my hormone levels are shifting (like before AF arrives, or at ovulation). So maybe checking your diet and looking into supplementation (like a calcium/magnesium/zinc tablet) would help?

Good luck and good health, mama!

Me, too. Yet another reason to VBAC. The last thing I want is even worse pain, which is completely possible. It infuriates me when doctors tell me this is normal. Pain is not normal. It is a sign that something is wrong. I never heard the word adhesion from a doctor. The first time I saw it was here in the VBAC board. I wish instead of telling people with constant pain from their c-sections that it is normal, they would tell you what is actually wrong and how it happened. When they don't it seems like you should expect to have pain for years for no reason but don't worry about it, it is normal. Ugh.
