And I was reminded how close he actually sleeps.

I started out with the bassinet right next to the bed when DS was born (April 04). But after a couple of weeks I decided to let him sleep right with me. However, I had to be on my side, not move, my arm under his head (preferable breast exposed for convenient latching for him :D ). Sometimes I would try to disentangle myself from him only to have him snuggle up so close that again I could not move (and in the morning I was stiff from staying in one position).

So, Wednesday, after having spent most of Tuesday night in the ER (DH had his first kidney stone!) and a completely overtired baby (who still woke up at his usual time, if not earlier) we (DS and I) fell asleep on the floor, I woke up and transferred us both into the guest room where we slept in the bed for 4 hours, and yet again, I cannot move. I let him have the middle of the bed with me on the side and he inches closer and closer almost throwing me off.

It was nice to have him with me but I really would like to know if everyone gets thrown out of the bed by their kid/s (whether they be weeks old or almost 2)? How DO YOU sleep with kids in bed? I mean physically, do you contort yourselves and have just learned to sleep in the most awkward positions?

DD coming in June and I am not looking forward to waking up with a backache...

well, we have our bed against the wall, so ds is on the side and I'm in the middle... he can't throw me out, but him and dh can really crowd me sometimes!
