Okay, so I will confess to being completely paranoid during pregnancy #1....I avoided all bathtubs, spas, and hottubs religiously for 9 months. HOWEVER, I hit 20 weeks this week, and apparently my pelvic bones and lower back are making some major adjustments for this beast growing within me! I ACHE!!!!!!!!!! I broke down and took the sweetest, most WONDERFUl soak (warm, not hot) tonight and I am so rellllaaaaaxxxxeeedddd right now :)

The only thing that would have made it better is Espom Salts. Anyone know anything about Epsom Salts during pregnancy? I'd love to throw some in for tomorrow nights soak. Any other ideas about what to add to the water?

aaahhhhhhh -Robyn

good for you mama.enjoy:thumb
I know that if I don't get my weekly relaxing soak then noone wants to be around me(think grumpy cow not stinky moo:lol I shower the other 6 days!!)
it's funny because I never paid attention to that, well I never went in a hot tub but as for the baths,I just find that there seem to be alot more rules over here than in the UK so I just follow my instinct.
I put Weleda lavender bath milk in my baths, now tere is something everyone should try at least once:thumb

Lavender bath.....ahhhhh.. I LOVE IT!!! I think I lived in the tub my last pregnancy.....and if I didn't have a 9 month old to chase around, I'd be living in the tub this pregnancy as well!!!! I agree, I have to have at least one good soak a week....I'm probably totally guilty of having my water too hot, but I can't stand to be cold......especially not cold water!!!!!
I say enjoy! And if I get concerned about anything, I just use the Baby bath products! My little one has even gotten to where she likes to start her day with a shower/bath with her mama! (of course bath to her also means a long nursing session!!!!)

The thing I keep reading is that it's only a problem if your core temp goes up. I kept taking baths from about 10 weeks on, I love my baths. I just don't soak super long, and it's not as hot as I like it--just warm, not hot. And noooo hot tubs or saunas. My skin doesn't get pink (and I'm fair), so I figure I'm not heating myself up much if at all.

Baths are not a concern. The water would cool off before it got to the point of raising your temp. I have hot baths all the time and did with my first pg too.

I just took a hot bath last night. I took one every night during my first pregnancy when I didn't have kids to put to bed! Except for pulling a muscle while IN the tub last night, it felt soo good. The only reason I don't add "stuff" to my baths is because it increases the chances of UTIs (which I've never had, but never want), so I just burn a nice smelling candle in the room instead if I want a nice scent.
