A very dear friend of mine lives in Atlanta. She is not yet pregnant but wants to find a caregiver that will help her plan a natural birth when the time comes. She is pretty mainstream but has learned a lot from me :) I think a midwife within a hospital/birth center would be her best option. I am looking for some suggestions.

TIA,
Keri

The BEST option for natural birth in a hospital, based on alllll my research (and I'm PICKY, I had a homebirth with my fourth!) is Margaret Strickhouser and Kay Johnson at North Pointe OB/GYN. They work out of North Fulton Regional, and do waterbirths there.

There are no birth centers in the ATL area, we need a couple good ones!

The website is http://www.npobgyn.com

Hope this helps! I have heard a few good things about other midwives, but I hear Margaret and Kay most consistently recommended, even by homebirth advocates. I am seeing them for my pregnancy, and hoping for a hospital waterbirth next month. (Or later this month, I wouldn't mind that ;))

hands down, the cnms at atl ob gyn assoc. judith cox, mary jane lewitt and wendy freeman are the names. they helped me have a life changing vbac! very natural minded, etc. i went 42.5 weeks and for a vbac that is unheard of! they stay with you through all of labor. they rock!
