Buying them can be expensive, and they're very easy to make - a good first sewing project.

WOW! Thanks for the great information. I keep thinking I am going to make a zafu some day. Now that I have a tutorial and a cheap source for buckwheat hulls, I may just have to give it a try.

Thanks for posting. I want to make my own but don't have the time lately (but also I don't want to spend so much money & I have a ton of fabric around). This just may be the push I need to make one.
