Interviewing a birth assistant?

I am pregnant with my first child am new to the idea of natural childbirth. Because of these reasons, I am unsure how to choose a birth assistant. I have gained so much information and advice from this website, and I was hoping to lean on some of the others expertise once again. So, if any of you out there could help me with a list of questions to ask, I would be most grateful!

Do you mean you want to hire a doula? If a doula is what you're interested in, check out www.dona.org. I used the questions suggested there when hiring my doula.
