Hi guys. Does anybody mind if I start a thread where we can come to just chat? It's hard to click on all the topics and really get to know anyone. Maybe if we get enough posters on this thread we can start a list of DDs for November.

I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant and I couldn't be happier. :hola:! Can't wait to meet everyone!

I'll give it a shot... I'm usually horrible at keeping up with these long threads!

Anybody else trying to feel their uterus? I'm pretty sure it's too early, but I was in bed this morning, squishing my fingers into my tummy...

Hi! Great idea, Pipermomma! (And congratulations, by the way!).

I am due Novemeber 14th.

I am feeling really sick. It's kinda taking over everything right now, which is scary given the fact of my twin three-year-olds.

Does anyone have any intuitions about the sex of the baby? I don't have any (though I am intuitively feeling that I'm growing twins again), but I wouldn't trust them if I did since I was completely wrong last time. I guess I sort of think I'm having a boy just because I think that's more likely in our situation (we're pretty sure our donor has more boy sperm than girl sperm, and we used frozen sperm which seems to increase the chances of having a boy).

I went to the gap and bought a pair of maternity jeans yesterday. I'm not quite 6 weeks, but none of my regular pants fit. I guess this is normal the second time around?

Anyway, can't wait to get to know you all better!

:love

I'm not in mat stuff yet... but after Cuddlemonster, it took a while to lose all the weight. I was down to about 10 lbs over pre preg weight (on a 5' frame), and about 5 above what I usually am when nursing. I just figured it wouldn't all come off, so I went to Old Navy to try and find pants. I'm short, and I've tried and tried the thrift store, but I gave up. So, I find a couple of low-rise pairs that are comfy. Next week, I get sick, and lose the 5+ lbs :o One of the pairs was pretty snug, so I could still wear it. I'm figuring I'll break out the other one soon.

chit chat good!

I am one of those pregnant moms who those with morning sickness hate...I have nothing...I swear no symptoms at all except that I am tired! I'm 7 weeks so I guess I still have time but I never had a think with either of my other kids.

I'm not even close to what my preprg weight was last time...I almost weigh what I did when I was 9 month along with my ds. I am having issues with this of course...I sometimes have to put it in perspective...I'm not big, 5 ft tall, a size 6-8 but I was a size 3-4 before I had ds. anyway there is my major baggage!

Really happy to be pregnant!!!!! I have an interview with a HB midwife on Thursday...she is the mother of my dd's best friend so I already have some repore with her.

I've felt for the uterus too, even though I'm not even 5 weeks, so there's NO WAY I will feel it yet... It doesn't come up until closer to 12 weeks, right?

I'm thinking it's a girl... Last time, we all thought the baby was a boy, and we were all right. This time we all think it's a girl, and DH really wants a girl. The "timing" was right for a girl, so we'll see. :)

I haven't started with maternity clothes yet, but probably will have to soon, since it's my 2nd preg. First one, I had to get maternity pants at 8 weeks! I normally wore regular jeans, and they were just WAY too tight right away. My mom figured out I was pregnant when I was only 3 weeks along, because I was wearing sweat pants instead of jeans when they came over for lunch. :lol This time, I'm wearing stretch jeans, and I really never lost the baby weight anyway (I'm starting out at 197.5, and was 206 the week before DS was born at 29 weeks!). That's over 13 lbs heavier than I started last preg, and I really should be more like 150 (I'm 5'9"). So waist? What's a waist?

I felt some expansion the day before yesterday... Pants felt tighter and the general area down there felt weird. I might need to break into the maternity pants next week. We'll see. I don't have any bigger pants that aren't maternity, and the rubber band trick only works if you're wearing long shirts, and while I don't do really short shirts, sometimes I don't have really long shirts either. My favorite pair of maternity pants is made out of stretch material, so it has no band, and thus looks like regular pants. :thumb

Good idea on the chatty thread! :)

I think I'm about 6-7 weeks, was very late so we've got a dating ultrasound on wed to find out for sure (also, becuase my uterus felt about 10 or 11 weeks to the OB on wed, so he said the big "T" word!!) Morning sickness has really kicked in this week, with horrible gagging and exhaustion. I've gone to bed around 8:30 or 9 every night, last night fell asleep at 6:30!!

Had to find a new care provider this week because the hospital I delivered my other guys at doesn't do VBACS (my third was a 32 week, breech c/s) Other two were vaginal births, so I'm a very good vbac candidate, the hospital just doesn't allow them and with my history of preterm, I can't really plan a homebirth.

So, have an appointment with an OB that a midwife friend recommended this week, and hopefully that will go well (rumor is he's a midwife with a penis, so we'll see :) )

I've been in maternity clothes (well, pants) since the week I tested positive. I guess that's what happens with the 4th baby, LOL! I've gained 6 pounds already, which I'm not happy about, but I have hardly been eating so it's nuts. I started this pregnancy heavier than I ever been, so I'm really trying to eat well and not stress about it. I weigh 2 pounds more than I weighed just before I gave birth to my last. (How did that happen?!?!?!)

I'm pretty big too - and bloated, I will be needing maternity pants in the next few weeks - I already bought one of those belly belts - like a tube top that goes over the top of your pants so you can keep them unbuttoned...I was already about 15 lbs heavier than when i had ds when this pregnancy started, and I think I have put on another 5....yikes!
I'm hoping for pink this time...we have 2 boys and if you count dh that would make it a family of 4 men -argh!!

I can't wear any of my smaller pants. I'm fine in the ones that were baggy but I can tell I'll soon be out of them too. Right now it's mostly just bloat.

BathRobeGoddess, pregnant women like you make me cry.:lol I so so want to be you right now. Ahhhhhhh no sickness, that sounds lovely.

Lex, I know what you mean about the sickness taking over. Oh it sucks (whine whine).

Hi everyone!

I would love to join in:D I am a Tandem nursing mom to two boys and just found out that I am due with #3 a few days ago... I am quite early in the pregnancy since I tested before AF was due:wink

Besides a bit of fatigue I have no symptoms yet... I didn't have much either with the boys so I won't mind having the same kind of pregnancy.

It looks like I am going to go unassisted this pregnancy so no appt's coming up for me.... :innocent

Hope to get to know you more...:D

Great idea for a chatty thread!

I have been trying to feel for my uterus, though I know it's too early. I had a really hard time finding it last time - even though my doctor was so patient and showed me (again and again and again) at every appointment. I've got a good layer of "fluff" on me, though - so it's understandable.

I'm not in my maternity clothes yet -though I bought them at 8 weeks last time (I'm 6w1d today). I was down to pre-preg weight with my son before I left the hospital because I was so sick my whole pregnancy... I started this one 30# lower that pre-preg (yay breastfeeding!). However, my body TOTALLY changed after that pregnancy - hips spread big time - and I never really figured out what my new size is. There's always next time, right =)

My morning sickness is really starting in now... though not as bad as last time yet. I've been successful so far with eating protein or drinking something to quell it... but today I just kept eating and eating and I'm still feeling blech. Gotta stop that =) But as I said in the morning sickness thread, I'm actually glad for it. I don't have my first prenatal appointment until next Monday, and I was stupidly starting to think something was wrong... crazy. Keep debating on the one leftover pg test in the drawer... I could do it Monday to hold me over for the last week until the blood tests... :)

Hi ladies! :)

I'm due with #4 and I'm in maternity already as well. None of my jeans fit and I can't stand the waistbands anymore. I'm living in a black pair of Yoga pants and a pair of maternity jean capris. Even those aren't comfortable. I alternate between feeling super nauseated and hungry as hell. Today I wanted Taco Bell so badly I was salivating and when I got it I decided it was disgusting and tossed the bag after a bite.

Anyway, we are really excited about this baby but nervous too. My other kids are 3+ yrs apart and now I'll have a newborn and a 23 month old! Scares me a bit really but I know it will work as it always does.

Great to have you all to chat with....

I'm about 5 1/2 weeks now. Feeling a little queasy now and then, but nothing bad. I'm really tired and breasts are sore, but I'm really glad to have "symptoms."

My jeans are a little tight in the waist. I'm sure that's just bloating--but I can see the rubber band trick being used in the near future!

Dh and I are talking names (we have no other baby-related stuff left to talk about!) And, as usual, we can't agree. Good thing there's time, huh?

Has anyone been spreading the news? Most everyone knows that we're expecting--we'll tell my parents tomorrow and my brother and his family next week--but all our friends know. They knew the day after I poas--I just couldn't keep my mouth shut! :lol

Hey all! Congrats Pipermomma and great idea for this thread.

I'm in the late 7th/early 8th week now, and altho I had been having some pretty sicky days these last 2 weeks starting a few days ago I've been amazingly better. I don't know whether it's something to make me feel better or worried, tho! This being the first one I'm so nervous! I do have the other pg symptoms around still (like constant peeing, tiredness, not able to eat quite as normally, etc.) so I'm not too worried.

I'm wondering if the EFT techniques I tried is what has helped me (www.emofree.com) or is it because I'm out of town visiting my parents. Or, is it just the normal ups and downs that come with the game. Anyone else had unusually great days amongst the sick ones?

I came to visit my parents alone and dh today was like, "no fair! when you were with me you were so sick and now you're okay!" I feel bad for him coz he's so affectionate but I've been so sick that when he comes near I feel like, aaack, get away!

I'm not really ready for maternity gear but my prob is that I was so skinny before that now that I'm swelling up a bit it seems like nothing fits. And then I get so irritated with the feeling of pants pulling at my waist, even when they're loose.

Also, not to sound silly but when you guys mention feeling your uterus, how exactly do you do that? what are you feeling for?

Wow! It's great to see so many expecting their 4th! We all must be a bit nuts . . . but I love my babes and I love giving in totally to the chaos. After I had my third, someone asked me, "How do you keep it together?" I said, "Well, that's no longer the goal!" So I guess there will be less keeping-it-together with babe number four!

Paxye, looks like we have babes with almost the same birthday!

Two days before I found out I was pregnant, I was loudly complaining to my DH that I couldn't button my jeans! I have been eating so well, I couldn't understand it! so I have cleared out most of my regular clothes and brought in what maternity I have. A friend is pregnant and I had lent her all my clothes! I'm sure she'll get them back soon!

I usually lose wieght when I am pregnant, not because I get sick (though I am rather nauseous this time), but just because that's my hormones or metabolism work. I end up wieghing less postpartum than before I got pg. But then I gain it all back three months after birth.

Even though this is my 4th, this is the first time I am nursing while I am pregnant. I am excited for this new experience, but a bit nervous too. I am a low supply mama, but have managed to nurse Zeke for almost 19 months! I hope I can continue to nurse through pregnancy, but have concerns about how the hormones will effect it. I'll just have to wait and see!

Thanks for starting this thread! Great idea!

Hello Everyone!! :hola Thanks for this thread!

I am Megan, my dd is 18 mos and I just got my BFP this week. But I was a week late with temps that were up,up,up so I've kinda known for awhile. So, that said; how do you say how many weeks you are again? From when I O'd or when my LMP was? I always get confused about that...

And when do you go to your midwife/dr? I didn't go last time until I was pretty sure my baby was 'sticky', 10-12 weeks or something like that.

Last question; when you calculated EDD, did you do so with O or LMP? Using O and the 9 mo minus 7 days, I'd be Nov 20th.

You probably don't believe this is #2!! :lol

These early weeks make me kind of anxious and I am trying to stay low key and not really say anything. I don't want to 'jinx' it- KWIM?! THAT's my pg symptom: the nervous anxiety I get!! I didn't really have morning sickness with dd and hope I don't this time around. I just need a little extra sleep; like anytime I can get it! :p

I swear I can feel my body changing already but my jeans are still on. We'll see how this one goes (don't hate me) but last time I really didn't even use maternity clothes, I just bought a size bigger and some yoga pants. At the end of the pg. I was actually sorry to put them away, they were so comfy!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Iirc, I went for my first appointment around 8-10 weeks with my others. I just ordered some prenatals yesterday...I can't really think of any other reason to go that early. I'll probably wait till 10-12 weeks.

I calculated edd both ways, but will ask the m/w to note the later date. I'm only telling relatives and friends the later date as well. It's only by a few days, (11/15 or 11/20) but it buys me a little time before people start talking about me being "ovedue."

Pipermoma, you can use 11/20 for me! :wink Thanks for getting that list together--I can't believe how many of us *aren't* first-timers, wow. Can your list be made into a sticky?

I'm not always good about keeping up with long threads but I will give it a shot.

This is baby number 3 for us, we have a 2.5 year old DD and a 7 month old DS, needless to say this was not planned but we are estatic. I'm having some problems nursing DS now and I'm in terrible pain. I dread when he wants to nurse and I feel aweful about that, but it just hurts so much. I never had sore bbs with DD or DS, they never hurt when my milk came in, nor when DD weaned, so this is a first for me.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Mamas! I'd like to join your list, my edd is Nov.5th and this will be baby number 3. We are so excited to be expanding the family. How happy I was to read others are having a hard time with their pants, I thought it was a little early to feel so much discomfort around my waist band. I too have been trying to feel my uterus ever since I read somewhere someone was able to bi manually feel uterus. So I've been trying too with no luck other than being able to wiggle cervix from outside:blush
Sorry if its TMI!

Name choosing is coming right along
Its funny how baby prep is different this time, we no longer have a crib, high chair, swing, sit and spin. We're getting ready to drop our mattress on the floor, that's our prep!
I'm loving my afternoon nap, though I'm going to need to set the alarm. Yesterday, girls and I slept 3 hours, I guess Sunday afternoons are great for that

Hi everyone!
I just found out (1 hr and 10 min ago) that I'm pg with #2!

My first impression is its a girl--and we conceived very early in ovulation window--so maybe girl is more likely! :)

As far as edd and how many weeks I am, I have a question first...

Are you all going by gestational age, or from start of last period?
Gestational age is 3 weeks, from start of last period I'm 4.5 weeks. I have a 'quick 26 day cycle' with only 3 days of period, so if I walk into the Dr office and give them my 'first day of last period' they will have my due date 'off' and since Drs didn't believe me with my dd when I tell them I KNOW the conception date, I think I will lie to DRs this time and tell them my 1st of last period was 14 days before my conception date, so they can 'get it right'...
Of course, if I use the midwife I want and have a home birth, it wouldn't matter, she would trust me! :) So, MY estimated due date is 17 Nov

Small info on me...my dh is in the Air Force...he will be deploying for 6 months in Aug...so he won't be here...but I have a thought to go to HIM to deliver--he will be deployed to Curacao (next to Aruba), but I don't know anything about their midwives, doulas, or hospitals (in case of an emergency)...I may just fly my midwife out...who knows...
:)

Gestational age is 3 weeks, from start of last period I'm 4.5 weeks.

I guess when I likely ovulated (based on my chart), and add 2 weeks to that. So by LMP, I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow (when I have my first OB appt), but in reality, I'll be more like 4 weeks 5 days tomorrow, and I've been pregnant for 2 weeks 5 days. :lol I have 35 day cycles and ovulate around day 24 or so. Since I have long cycles, I'm pretty sure my doctor will understand and at least go by the date given for the LMP I have with a 35 day cycle (I did one of the online calculators that does that)... That'd put me due a few days before I really am, but at least it's not a week and a half off. :)

Last time, my midwife just put down her wheel and said "You know what you're doing. I'll just use your date." :lol I don't see her until 12 weeks (I'm doing OB and midwife in tandem, since last preg completed at 29 weeks 4 days and I had to be assigned an OB in the hospital :irked:).

lexbeach
03-20-2006, 09:08 AM
I calculated from ovulation date using an online calculator. We did two IUIs, so I could have gotten pg either day, but I calculated from the second day. Unless I'm having twins, I'm sure I'll go way past my due date anyway.

Mrs_Hos: I think if you're three weeks post-conception today, then your EDD would be more like November 20th (I'm four weeks post-conception tomorrow, and my EDD is Novemeber 14th going from date of conception). Better to err on the later side than the earlier side since you don't want them to start talking about induction if you go over!

I am feeling much moodier this pregnancy than last. Not sure what that's about. I feel kind of PMSy in my mood swings. Of course, last time I took clomid to get pregnant, so I think regular pregnancy hormones were a breeze compared to clomid-induced craziness.

I am just starting to think about this new baby in my womb. It is taking me longer this time, I think because I'm distracted by taking care of my boys. Last time I was obsessed with knowing what was happening every day (arms growing, eyes forming, etc.), and this time I'm just not thinking about it. Anyone else experiencing things differently the second time around?

Yeah, I find myself WANTING to go look at stuff about early pregnancy, but then none of it is new to me - I know all the basic stuff from last time. And I haven't really been looking much at what happens when except when the heartbeat starts, because I might have early u/s tomorrow (not sure what this OB does - whether he does it at first visit or schedules it for a couple weeks later), and I won't be very far along, so probably wouldn't see a heartbeat anyway. It's a 6 week appt based on LMP, but I'm not even 5 weeks yet.

The second (or third or fourth) time around is different, isn't it?! You just don't have the time to spend every minute of the day wrapped up in the pregnancy.... and it's true, when you go to look at the books, you already know the info!

My dd is nursing A LOT and I don't think it's because my supply is changing yet. I suspect it's part of her major growth spurt.

Yep. Dh and I were just saying that, other than names, we have NOTHING to discuss regarding this baby. :lol Everything else was worked out ages ago--we don't need to discuss feeding or sleeping arrangements, or birth choices or vax or circ or even what to buy--it's all been done.

I've been going by LMP which makes be just about 8 weeks. I ovulate early in my cycle so I'm probably almost 7 weeks gestation age.
Yesterday was a pretty bad day sickness wise. Today has only been a tad bit better. Sorry to whine so much but this awful nausea (I have no idea how to spell this today) and lump in my throat crap is already quite old.

This will be our 3rd child!! And right now I'm thinking 3 is the perfect number of children!:lol My youngest (he's 4 1/2) still bf's to sleep at night.

I nursed my first DD when I was pregnant with my second. The first trimester was by far the hardest as there was some pain. Second trimester was fine, third was uncomfortable, but no sandpaper like pain. And then she nursed for about 6 months after the baby came. I wouldn't trade that for the world...I think it made it so much easier for my 2 year old DD to bond with her new sister. No one is nursing now so I'm going to try to just enjoy being pregnant this time!

I updated the list. I don't know how the board works to make it sticky...I just thought we could cut and paste it into the first post of the April thread when it comes time...I'll try to remember to do that.

Hello all!!! I'm preggo with #1, due 11/12 and I'm about 6 weeks and 3 days. I feel really good. Not much nausea, I cant eat tuna fish or cheese anymore more, I tried. But it just didn't taste right to me, kinda yucky. A little tired, but I work the 7p-7a shift, so what else is new right? We have our first appt/interview with a HB midwife on 4/6. But otherwise excited to be here and getting to know everyone!!!:love

hi,
can we be added to the list?

my dw and i are both pregnant i am due around the 15 november and dw is due around the 10th november. we are so excited to be pregnant together. this will #3 and #4 for us. we already have a 6 year old DD and a 2 year old DS. we are both planning on an unassisted birth with just each other for support and our midwife will be a phone call away if the need arises.

at the moment we are both getting morning sickness my DW is getting it really bad she can hardly keep anything down where as i am getting it from about midday till around 9pm.

i am already in maternity pants i was as of a weeks ago i hate my waistband being tight and i was shocked when they started getting tight at 5 weeks. my DW's tummy is as flat as it always is she isnt even bloated i am so jealous because i am bloated already.

we are planning on having intervention free pregnancy's unless there is a medical reason to need things done. we dont want any tests done and we only want one ultrasound done at around 20 weeks to check on our progress.
having said that. i am having weekly hcg levels at the moment because mine are 4times what they should be for being only 6 weeks pregnant and if they continue to stay elevated i will be having an ultrasound at around 12 weeks. i am really hoping they level out soon so i can stick to no ultrasound till 20 weeks.

looking forward to getting to know everyone

Connersmum, that's really awesome to be due at the exact same time as your DW. Maybe you've got twins with the high betas...so come November you guys would essentially have triplets! I added you to the list.

So far my midwife hasnt mentioned twins yet. I've been wondering if thats why my levels are so high after doing a little searching online about high levels. I might bring it up when i see her this week. Whoa 3 babies we werent expecting that as a possibility. We always said we wanted 5 children but were happy with 4 so we were going to stop after these pregnancy's. I am going to call my mdiwife tomorrow i think and see what she says. i cant wait until my appointment at the end of the week :D

Wow, connersmom, I can't even imagine! I admit that I always had a fantasy that my someday wife and I would get pg at the same time, but now that I've experienced being the only one pregnant, it's hard to imagine. I definitely make dw do all the dishes, get me snacks in the middle of the night, etc. . . How high were your betas? My 13 dpo was 227, and 16 dpo was 1036. I am having an u/s this afternoon to check for twins. I'm also super sick. We already have one set of twins, and they were conceived on clomid. This pregnancy was a drug-free conception, so it seems totally crazy that I could have twins again, but I guess crazier things have happened!

Welcome to all the new mamas!

Connorsmum ~ It must be so cool to be pregnant with your DW! But I echo Lex's sentiments! You must have a strong relationship and take good care of each other!

I guess I'll join in the fun :D I've just come back from my first midwife appt. It was pretty uneventful, and I have to go back in for bloodwork next week. The midwife outlined all the tests we have the option to take, and my husband wants them all. :irked: This hospital offers a new, more accurate, less invasive screening test for Downs. We've got a few weeks to discuss it. It looks like I'm due Nov 17th. So excited to be here! :love

My nausea kicked in yesterday. Ugh. I'm off to acupuncture this afternoon, so hopefully that will help. I have a great tea I used to take that has chamomile in it. My TCM doctor said not to take chamomile as it can cause uterine contractions. Anyone else been told this? I'm tempted to drink a bit of the tea anyway as it was so helpful with nausea.

:)

You are so cool! My DH is an army brat, and when I read this to him, he said that's got to be one of the sweetest things he's ever heard! (He and his sister were born in Germany where dad was stationed - and mom went with since that's where she was from. Brother born in the states.

I am feeling much moodier this pregnancy than last. Not sure what that's about. I feel kind of PMSy in my mood swings.

Me, too. Last time, when I was getting moody, I was at least able to be rational in my head and say, "It's just hormones... calm down." This time... not so much - at least not until after I say or do something mean... then I just feel like crap.

Yup! Although, I'm forcing myself to keep track. We did a website for my son while we were pregnant (and kept it up after his birth with developmental stuff). I got the babycenter emails each week, and then would post their "what's new with baby" and "what's new with you" and add my own comments. We are quite far from our families, so it was our way of keeping them involved in the pregnancy/birth of their first grandchild. Now, I feel like I should do it for the same reason, but also so "Zy" (what we've named this baby in utero) doesn't start out life with second-child syndrome already =) I really like the ticker from baby-gaga.com where they give you a little developmental update each week, as well as show you about what the baby looks like right now. (http://tickers.baby-gaga.com/p/dev313pr___.png (http://www.baby-gaga.com/))

And someone else posted about not having to make any of the big decisions this time around so it's so different - totally agree! Even the birth decisions... we're just going to change the due date on our birth plan (and the baby's pregnancy nickname). Otherwise, we're set to go! Now just to wait until November:lol

As far as how we're estimating due date - I went by on online site. This was my first ppaf, and my first time trying to check for cm. I'm pretty sure that this would have been a 32 day cycle, rather than a 28 (I used an opk when I would have o'd on a 28, and didn't... but saw cm changes a few days later). I'm going by what I know my doc's wheel will say. I don't feel right lying to her, since she's so good about working with us and not pressuring us to do any tests we don't want. Instead, I'll tell her what I said here, and I'll just cut a bargain with her... tell her I'll go by the 10th, as long as she doesn't start panicing about 42 weeks until the 28th :thumb She's not much of a panicer, though... exactly why I love her!:D

what others are going through. I'm on my 4th pregnancy so. like a lot of you, nothing is new...except I didn't visit Mothering any other time so now there is a community! I'm due on Nov. 15 and feeling fine. My older kids are 9 and 11 and they are excited about the baby but we are so busy with regular life and our 13 month old that we haven't talked much about the pregnancy yet... I know we won't talk about baby names until the last month :)

One question I have is thinking about co-sleeping with a baby and a toddler. We have out king on the floor but sleeping with our kids wasn't something we did with the older two boys (didn't know about attachment parenting but I think we did a lot of it just by instinct, except for the sleeping part - and we had a waterbed then too.) Anyone have thoughts on that??

I co-slept with our first two. My oldest liked to be in the middle, between dh and I and dd liked to be on the outside. So, we put our mattress on the floor with a twin mattress right up against it, so we all had enough space.

I was worried about co-sleeping when #3 came along though. dd (6 y/o at the time) had this routine where she'd go to sleep in her own bed, then, during the night, she'd wake and run into our room, taking this flying leap onto our bed. (She was afraid of the dark, so running as fast as she could and jumping into bed so the things under the bed didn't get her was important. :wink )I was afraid that she'd forget about the newborn and land on top of him! So, we ended up getting a co-sleeper. I'm not sure what we'll do this time...my youngest sometimes come into bed with us, sometimes not. Maybe we'll just have the co-sleeper on stand-by.

Lexbeach- Twins?????? let us know!!

JUST ONE BABY :banana :banana I was pretty surprised, but *so* relieved. There was a little heartbeat and everything, so that was nice to see too. I am feeling just as sick as I felt with my twin pregnancy, which seems totally unfair, but I'm glad to know it doesn't mean that there are two babies stirring things up in there.

Re: cosleeping, I'm sort of wondering what we're going to do too. My boys are 3, but they still sleep most of the night in our bed (start out in a bed that they share), one snuggled into each side of me. I'm not sure if I should start encouraging them to sleep next to me without snuggling, or what. I'm thinking I'll give it a little more time, but I don't want to make any big changes too close to when the baby comes. I'm happy for them to continue sharing our bed, but they won't be able to snuggle me all night long anymore. I'm kinda hoping that by the time the baby comes, they will have started sleeping through the night in their bed all on their own. They will be nearly four. . . but it may just be wishful thinking :lol

Hi, everyone! I'm about 4-1/2 weeks today, just 2-1/2 weeks past ovulation day. I'm almost in maternity clothes; trying to hold out until 6 weeks but we'll see. :) My BGF is 6 weeks ahead of me and I was hoping to let her enjoy her time in the limelight before I have to start parading my big ole pregnant belly around! I haven't tried to feel my uterus with my hands, but I can *feel* it down there, the pressure, and it's sort of contracting now and then, I think.

Sorry to make y'all jealous, but no morning sickness for me yet! I didn't have it with DS either. Unfortunately, I do have the extremely sore breasts, horrible fatigue (made worse by DS finally teething his last 2 year molar!), and the heartburn already seems to be starting. :(

Anyway, I'm just finishing a cup of chamomile mint tea with honey for my sore throat, and then I'm off to bed. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

It's too wonderful to be here. My last two pregnancies ended with m/c (one right after Christmas at 11 weeks and one last Dec at 10 weeks), so I'm hoping that three is the charm here. I have a five year old dd who will make a great big sister! I just found out three days ago and it was a big surprise. i've had a nasty case of mastitis, even though I'm not nursing, and I had to go for a diagnostic u/s and mammogram at the beginning of the week. The morning of the tests, I realized AF was two days late, so I stopped by the drug stor for a HPT and took it in the bathroom at the dr's office. In a nanosecond it came up BFP and I was in shock. So, the u/s revealed an abscess and I had to have it excised today, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Anyway, I sooooooo hope all goes well wit hthis preg. I see the OB tomorrow when i'll be 4w6d.
I'm surprised b/c we did the deed on CD 5 and I have a 28 day cycle. But all accounts, it should have been a 'safe' day. Veeeeryy interesting.........

janola, wow--what a day you had!

I'm sorry for your losses. This pregnancy is following a loss for me too, so my fingers are crossed, but I feel so different from last time, that I'm taking that as a good sign. My 5 y/o is also eagerly looking forward to being a big brother...I keep reminding him, "After spring, after summer, after our trip, after Halloween..." it just seems like FOREVER for him, poor kid.

Well, I was searching the house yesterday for rubber bands...went and bought some elastic-waist pants...I just can't stand anything snug around my stomach. I've been looking for maternity shorts for the summer and can't find any--why is everyone making those "underbelly" pants now that don't carry you through the whole 9 mos? :irked: I think I'm going to make a few pairs instead. Anyone know of a good source for maternity shorts?

Anyone know of a good source for maternity shorts?

It's been two summers since I bought some, but I got a couple nice pairs at Motherhood. Denim ones with the stretchy belly, and khaki ones just had more material in the belly section (like a "D") and a draw string. I didn't check their ccurrent selection, though...

Brisen
03-24-2006, 09:57 AM
janola -- hope you're feeling better now! Mastitis is NOT fun. Congrats on the pg!

Lex -- big sigh of relief! I can imagine twins once was taxing enough.

Joan -- I think everyone is making those underbelly pants cause they're way better :wink I definately prefer them. I found a pair of capris (though I'm short enough that they fit me like pants, but the fabric was light) at a place called "Motherhood." They had that internal elastic thing that you can tighten and secure with a button and then loosen as you need more space. That might give you the extra fabric you'll need at the end. Though where I am, I won't be wearing shorts in November -- unless it's in the house, and then I don't mind wearing a pair of dh's :p I just don't do shorts much anymore. I can't find any that fit how I like.

I have been so exhausted the last couple of days. It hasn't helped that dh bought a dvd drive thingy for the computer so we are able to watch movies again (we have no tv), and we've been staying up watching movies together. :o I've also been rather blue feeling. I just don't want to do anything. I planned on going grocery shopping today, but I realized that the last time I wore my contact lenses, I didn't clean them when I took them out. I'm not comfortable driving with my glasses -- they're an old prescription -- and my contacts are uncomfortable enough when they're nice and clean. I mean, I probably could clean them, but I'm rather glad to have the excuse to stay home. I did get off to a good start today -- made a good breakfast, got dressed, washed the dishes, made the bed, etc. And it makes a difference to the kids too -- they're nicely playing together now, making up a game with a backgammon board and pieces -- instead of being cranky and antsy like yesterday, when I just managed put out banana bread and cheese for the kids to help themselves to for breakfast. :o I did manage to read to them, though, for a couple of hours, it's just that we were all still in our pjs, the house was a mess, and the boys are sick of banana bread. And after sitting around and reading all morning, I fell asleep for a nap in the afternoon! I think today I'll attack the mound of laundry, we have to go out of the apartment to do that, so it will count as "going out". And I can take them to the little playground behind our building and pick up milk at the convenience store there -- milk is the only thing we really need. On the other hand, the Loblaws about 2 mins from here has cookie and caramel ice cream on sale right now... and we just finished off the tub last night... maybe I *can* muster up the energy to go out.

Brisen, just reading about what you've done today made me tired.:lol I just don't feel well enough to do much of anything.
I only have one pair of maternity shorts and I know if I'm gonna make it through this summer (I live in the south) I'm going to need a lot more. I'm going to look at thrift stores though I can't afford to buy from maternity stores much too pricey for me.

Sheacoby -- maybe a consignment store? Or even freecycle? I started wearing skirts to help deal with the heat -- I'm not in the south, but we still have quite a lot of days in the 90s - 100 range with high humidity, bleh. Not for as long as you guys do, I'm sure, but it feels like the reasonable weather between that and below-freezing, windy, snowy months is short-lived!

I'll join, but I probably won't keep up well. Too tired! :)

This is my first baby. I'm 7 weeks today - due Nov. 10 based on ovulation date. I was charting, and I ovulated on CD31, so I'm prepared to stick to MY date and not let the nurse at the OB office put down the LMP date (which would make me 2.5 weeks farther along than I know I am). I think my OB will listen to me - she's actually a wonderful friend of mine, and I'm so excited to have her help and care for this pregnancy. My first appt is next week.

Skirts are looking really good right about now. I went to Old Navy, Target and a Motherhood outlet today. Then I came home and looked online at Gap, Kohls, and a few other places. I'm not picky...REALLY I'm not. I live in jeans and t-shirts normally. But man! There are a lot of ugly maternity clothes out there. ;) I've also noticed that capris are really big. Okay, I think I'm done griping about clothes now.

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe how quickly my body is changing this time! I guess it remembers being pregnant... I'm with the rest of you, I am not liking anything tight around my abdomen. I am wearing the low rise jeans I wore last pregnancy and normally wear with a belt. Hopefully they'll last awhile because those darn maternity pants always fall off me (I don't have much in the hips department). Mat clothes are still a pain to find; why do people think pregnant women want to wear flashy, crazy patterns?!! I do like Old Navy though.

I am reassured by how my body is changing, plus I'm tired, a little dizzy and diapers make me gag, but I'll be honest, I still worry about the baby being sticky. I am excited for this pregnancy and want to share the news with everyone, which makes me even more nervous!! Isn't that goofy? :hug to all of you who have had losses.... I think that must be so hard. Sending sticky vibes to all..... :sticky

It's nice getting to know you all a little. I'll try to do personals the next time I post. Right now it's time for me to clean up, find a snack and watch Sex in the City before I hit the sack. :o

I can't afford to buy from maternity stores much too pricey for me.

Many of them have discount/clearance racks... that's how I found mine (I know what you mean about cost - I almost fell over today when I looked at the price of a pair of maternity jeans... $50!!!).

Some friends have found maternity clothes at their Once Upon A Child. Ours doesn't do maternity stuff, though... just baby.

Hope you find something that works for you :)

Oh yes, clearance racks! The good thing, too, is that right when you start you pg, they have the clothes for the end of your pg on clearance, right? Though if you're looking for shorts, that won't be much help. Unless they still have shorts on clearance from last summer ;)

Hi everybody. I finally read through all the posts and am so happy to have found this group. I am pg w/ #2 and am due on the 14th. I was trying to chart but think I was totally getting it wrong maybe because I never really slept for long without nursing and my temps were not showing a long enough luteal phase. I was so depressed that I couldn't get pg after waiting until ds was 21 mo. to get my first period. Amazingly, I was thinking dh and I should do the next months chart together so he could be more a part of it. He kept telling me I pg already and I felt so bad for him because I knew I couldn't be. I can look back and laugh at it all now.
I am so excited I can hardly contain it. The first time there was so much to think and read and talk about. This time I can just relax and enjoy it. I know that once this icky first part is over the beautiful second trimester will be here. Then the long wait of not being able to eat or breathe and then the amazing, powerful birth. And then there he/she will be. Honestly. I am over the moon.
One thing we are trying to think of now is a nickname. I think it will be Bean. DS was born in the year of the monkey so that is what we call him but this is the year of the dog and I am hoping it is a girl and I can't call it Bitch. And there is nothing about Scorpio that lends itself to a nickname.
Anyway, it is lovely to be here with everybody. I have heard that after first pg you start to show earlier. I don't know what to do about clothes. I am 5'4" and 172 lbs now. I wear 14wp. I have not found plus size petite maternity yet. Capris as pants don't work for me because the crotch is halfway to my knees and that is so uncomfortable. I hate shorts. Perhaps this will be my summer to learn to sew. Last pg I wore one pair of pants the whole time. When I came home I put on a pair of stretch pants. Then right before I left the house I would put on my black maternity pants and shoes and then walk out. I threw them away after the first couple weeks post partum!

hi everyone,

i havent had a chance to read through all of the posts yet but i thought i would post an update,
we are both going well although morning sickness has kicked in big time for both of us. having two hormonal women in the house is actually becoming funny to our 6 year old. she said to us today after we had a little spat over something stupid "now do I need to set up time out corners for you two" the stern look on her face was priceless and had us almost on the floor laughing.

i spoke to my midwife on the phone about the possibility of twins and she says she is thinking that this may be the case as my levels are still 4x's what they should be. she was going to stop taking levels and just leave it for 4 weeks and do them again and if they were still high i would be having an early ultrasound just to make sure and see whats happening.
but after our appointment on friday she is considering sending me for an ultrasound sooner i am already starting to show and i am measuring about 13 weeks instead of 6 weeks. i would really rather wait but i have agreed that if in 2 weeks my levels havent calmed down and i am still measuring ahead then i will have an early ultrasound to check for twins. the reason i want to wait is because i measured really big with my son as well at 6 weeks with my son i was measuring 15 weeks but by 8 weeks things had settles down and i was only measuring 3 weeks in front but i had ALOT of fluid with him which is why i measured ahead i didnt have high levels with him so that is the only reason i am agreeing to an early ultrasound in 2 weeks.

i havent got much more time before i need to get back and help out with packing. we are currently moving into a bigger house as we only live in a small 2 bedroom at the moment so the kids are sharing. we have only been in this house for just under 12 months but we have brought a bigger house with 5 bedrooms so we can fit everyone in. we move in 3 weeks but the packing is taking forever. so talk to you all later

I am Kim. I am 9-10 weeks with my first. I have two stepsons 17 and 19 they live out of state with their mom. We see them in the summer and at Christmas and occassionaly in between when we can.

My DH thinks he is crazy for starting over. I am 29 he is 39. I told him it would keep him young. He is not so sure. He is sure this baby will be a boy (because he has two other boys) I told him it would serve him right to have a girl this time. He would have no idea what to do with one. I dont care as long as he/she is healthy.

I had been TTC since Sept. Then went to Chiropractor throughout Jan and Feb for some neck issues and got pregnant. Only after getting pregnant did i read the info on the link between fertility and chiropratic care. I am definatly a believer. I plan to keep going during the pregnancy. He has already helped with the migraines I have been getting.

Well I guess I should do some work. I am excited to get to know everyone!

Connorsmum, I am so in awe of you! Two children, two pregnant women, twins!, and moving! You take my breath away. I am just trying to figure out a move 15 mo. ago, making meals every day, and a two year old. You are my hero.
I feel mediocre today. Still so tired and slightly nauseous (sp?). A friend told me she didn't get sick until 9 weeks. I thought if I didn't have it by now, this would be the worst it gets. But now I am holding my breath.
I am trying to decide what kind of birth I want. It will definitely be at home but should I be unassisted or with just a low key midwife or with 4 other people, like last time, and make it a celebration! DH will do whatever I want (smart man!)
Zen-ozz, thanks. I don't know any scorpios very well and I am so happy to hear about your first son.
