I am 34 weeks and have been having really painful bh to the point where I have to focus and breathe until they pass. Today i must have had around 10 or 15 of them and they are triggered when I turn in bed or get up or sit down or practically any change in action if you know what I mean.:irked: This is my fourth baby so I have had bhs before but never this strong - I know they aren't real labor pains but why are they sooo strong. Plus them, I have had really bad lower back pain for the past couple of days to the point where I can't sleep and am irritated all nite...lolol I couldn't sleep anyway but this is much worse. Oooh another thing, most every time I had one I was sent to the bathroom with not diarrhea but looser stools than usual. Its almost like a stomach bug or something but the bh happens first then i get the cramping in the stomach and I gotta run to the bathroom.

I thought maybe it was over exertion but I have been resting and seems that they are still coming...any thoughts? I wish I could check my own cervix to see whats going on down there but I haven't a clue how to do it or if I would be able to get my fingers in far enough:wink

I pretty much just posted the same thing! I had them all night. I thought I was dying, had to go to the bathroom a lot! I never had a bh hurt more than a twinge til last night. I thought it was labor, but it stopped after 3 hours.

Sometimes it can be from dehydration.Drink lots of liquids and rest and see if that helps. Some arnica for the back pain would be good.If you have several within an hour i would call your midwife/OB.With my fourth i had them all day every day!

:yeah:

My midwife told me that when I get them more than six an hour, to drink 16 oz of water and lay down. The uterus contracts more when it is dehydrated, she said.

If that doesn't help, call your care provider. I had preterm labor with my first, and my cervix dilated to 2.

I have been having the same thing. I actually think its early labor, which scares the crap out of me since I am only 36 weeks pregnant and just realized we can't use the crib we used with the previous two because parts are missing and its been through a war zone basically, so I have no crib. Add to that the fact that I live so far from family and my mom won't be here till the 8th of April and I have ONE person down here who could watch the kids and would if nessasary, but I don't want her to have to if I am not coming home with a baby because I don't want to put every one through that. I know thats totally crazy thinking because I should be worried about the baby being early, but thats part of it, just every thing else is first. And even though I have had two before this, I never had braxton hicks that I could feel, so how would I know if its that or more? I timed them last night (third night in a row I had them, but were actually PAINFUL last night), and they were lasting about a min and were about 3 min apart. Also, he has dropped like crazy. Good luck to all of us

I've had a few of those too, except I have them when I'm, um, already sitting on the toilet :blush and when I roll over in bed too fast. My mw thought that if I was pushing on the toilet I could be pushing the baby down too and that might cause it, but yesterday I had one when I was standing up and fully clothed so I KNOW I wasn't pushing. It's so good to hear about these symptoms from other pg women when the mws act like they've never heard of them before.

Chiropractic can do wonders for lower back pain in pregnancy.

Hello everyone! I didn't have access to a computer or I would have replied earlier...

well, my midwife said she thought that it was preterm labor and if I rested for a couple of days it would slow down hopefully and if not I was to call her and go in to the hospital.

i rested and rested and rested some more and voila! it has stopped and has gone back to the normal bhs that I am used to. The other thing though is she thinks maybe I have a stomach bug that is causing the diarrhea and might just be a coincidence that I was over doing it plus caught a stomach bug so I am getting my feces (excuse my language - i was pondering as to what term to use) tested and should have the results by saturday...lolol by then the bug will pass by itself if thats what it is.

Citykid Isn't that scary - I am always afraid to bear down when using the bathroom cuz I always imagine the baby comin out and not what is supposed to come out. :nut

mom_2_two I really hope things work out for you but it sounds like you really need to rest. I personally have no help at all and am moving at the end of this month and have finally decided I have to give in and get a maid or else maybe have more preterm labor. There is just sooo much to be done - my to -do list is like two pages long and everytime I finish something I seem to be adding more to it. I just realized after going thru this scare that I do need help. My family is across the ocean and so it is very hard to find someone who can help and there is nothing like ur own family!

mystic2mom Were u overworking urself also? I think we all need to just start a strike - no more ! we will do no more housework, cooking and taking care of the kids! :lol :lol

I guess I am lazy in the drinking water part and its funny that my midwife never suggested to try and drink more.

I too have been having painful, have to concetrate on my breathing at times BH. I also have been feeling alot of pressure, like the baby is pressing down so hard.
At 35 wks, it scares me a little. I'm not due until the 25th of April, just over a month to go...
I go back to the OB on the 30th of March.

Being a first time mom, I don't know if this is normal, or should I call my doctor?

I am having these a ton lately. I did starting at 28 weeks with my DS and this one it started at around 16. They aren't doing anything though, my midwife checked yesterday. (DS was overdue, so this is just normal for ME) The best thing I did was to talk to my mother and grandma and find out that they were the same way. They said it just gets worse and more frequent with each pregnancy. The water thing helps sometimes, though.

I just wanted to post this to say that for some people with an "irritable uterus" it is normal to have strong, painful BH.

You know, I've had BH since 1st trimester, and stopped taking RRL tea because of it (which seemed to help so that they only hit when I needed to drink more, rest, or pee -- which is the norm as I understand it).

Are any of you with the really painful BH now hardcore RRL drinkers? Not being critical -- just curious, as I wonder if that could be contributing to it? I know that for more pregnant women, RRL is a wonderful herb, but for me it seemed to make my BH much worse.

Just curious.

To tell you the truth I don't even know what RRL tea is...so nope I don't drink it and never have.
