Okay, so in a fit of desperation today I went to CVS and got seabands and the sea band ginger gum. holy reduced morning sickness, batman! About 3 minutes after i started chewing the gum it was like someone turned off the ickiness that was in my stomach. i was actually able to EAT a meal. 3 hours later (and about 4 more pieces of gum) and I still feel pretty decent. Wahoo!

Yay!
I got some ginger snaps at the store the other day. I'm not in full fledged morning sickness though. It will probably be another week or two before it hits. I'm just mildly queasy right now, and ginger snaps will take care of that usually.

Bought ginger ale today--just in case...
And I'm planning on making my own ginger cookies! If I need to.......

I mentioned in the other morning sickness thread that I got the preggie pop drops for a friend (she said they were great!). I picked some up today and, really, they worked almost instantly. I was so excited!

I'm going to have to send dh out for some of that gum when he gets home from work. I'm hanging on by a thread here (regarding starting the all day vomiting).

Just lurking here, since my babe was born in November last year... I just miss being prego and thought I'd drop in on you guys!
Just so you know, Tom's of Maine makes a ginger toothpaste. :D It totally rocks. Just thought I'd let you guys in on that!
Congratulations to you all and may your births be blessed!

To the OP - you are my hero:bow . I spent the last two pregnancies hugging the toilet for the entire nine months. I read your post about the ginger gum, went to Whole Foods and viola! Thank you so much. It is the only thing that has helped and I have tried everything from accupuncture to b6 to papaya - you name it. I just ate lunch and it remains in my stomach, so thanks again!

Keisha, I'm so glad it's working for you! it stopped working for me after that first week :( I spent prety much ALL of last week fighting to keep even water down. after not keeping anything at all down for two days I had to go in for IV fluids, and now I'm doing the unisom/b6 (used to be bendictin here in the US, but the co stopped manufacturing it ages ago because of some bogus lawsuits. it's now been show to have no effects whatsoever and is the longest running medication used in pregnancy. women have been taking it since the 50's, LOL!) anyway, long story short - it's working awesome and I've been able to eat the last two days. of course, I feel like a zombie and want to sleep 20 hours a day, but 'll take sleepy over pukey any day of the week.

and now I'm doing the unisom/b6
That's what a friend of mine with 6 kids/7 pregnancies recommended to me... though I wish I had known it last pregnancy when things were really bad. I checked it with my doc and she told me, by all means, it was safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding and to go for it if I needed it.
I'm glad to hear it's working for someone else... and that it's a well-known thing, too. Thanks!

I had some ginger tea yesterday that worked pretty well. I also did the apple cider vinegar thing and that worked OK, too.
Today, my stomach is a bottomless pit!

I am glad you are feeling better. What is the unisom/b6 thing? And what is the apple cider vinegar thing? Those are both new to me.

Add 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar to 8 oz water. I've read in some places it's cold water and other sources said warm water (gag) but I put it in cold water, then added a lemon wedge and a dash of sugar so it wasn't so vinegar-y.

Unisom is an antihistamine, used in conjunction with vitamin b6 it used to be marketed as bendictin here in the US from teh 50's to the early 80's. Millions of pregnant women took it, but in the early 80's it was though to possibly be associated with birth defects. Rather than try to fight, the manufacturere stopped producing it, and many, many subsequent studies have shown in fact that it's got no side effects, no increase inbirth defects, etc. it's actually now thought to be completely safe. it's still sold in canada (as dilectin, I think) Anyway, for whatever reason, it's quite effective at curbing the more severe nauseau and vomiting in early pregnancy. Half a unisom tablet, along with 25 mg of vit b6, taken up to 4 times a day. it's really worked wonders for me this past week. I take it once in teh morning (half tablet/25 mg of b6) once in teh afternoon (half tablet/25 mg b6) and then a full tablet at night with my prenatal vitamin before bed. 've gone from literally vomiting every single thing that goes in my moth (including water) last week (I had two rounds of IV fluids last weekend I was so dehydrated) to being able to keep two meals down a day and now vomiting only once or twice a day. i wish I could say it's completely made it go away, but I'll take what I can get, LOL!
