We had a really, really mild winter this year--I only wore my winter coat once--and my skin never got its usual winter dryness. My finger tips never cracked. All was good.
Now, all of a sudden, my skin is dry. My hands are like sandpaper, even though I'm constantly slathering lotion on them. I drink lots of water, I take a prenatal and omega's...any other ideas? They're so red and chapped-feeling that I started using olive oil instead of lotion because it stung.

My hands are horrible too. In fact, one hand was red and dry all the way up to the wrist - almost looked like I was wearing a red glove!!! For me, I figure hydration might be playing a role. I'm working on increasing my hydration, but it's hard, as I hate drinking liquids when I'm not eating. I'm also slathering on the lotion every chance I get. Between those two, my hands look better than they did a couple days ago.

My hands are cracking, my face is peeling and flaking and my "big" scar (I have 4 - this on is jusy over an inch) on my upper abdomen from gallbladder surgery is SO itchy! I'm going nuts!
I keep drinking water water water and using lotion, but I don't feel it's helping much.

See, now, I don't remember this happening with my other pregnancies, so I automatically figured that I was deficient in something...I'm sorry you're all having this too, but it sounds like it's typical, huh?

My body skin is always dry so I haven't noticed any change there. I have noticed that my facial skin feels rough... like it needs to be exfoliated but I do take care of it regularly. I think I have a slight increase in redness too. My skin is usually fine so I think it is related to my pregnancy.

Hey there - new to this forum...and desperately seeking some advice! Ever since I went off the pill two years ago (we've been trying that long - and have finally been successful!) - my skin has been waging WW III with me. I have tried some different otc products, but now that I am pregnant, I worry about the toxins, etc. Anyone else? Any advice?

I had acne with one pregnancy, but not the others. There are a number of prescription and non-prescription meds for acne that aren't good during pregnancy. I've used peroxide and tea tree oil (not together!) while pregnant. You might want to check whatever you're considering using with your provider.

I use the entire line of tee tree oil products from The Body Shop and it works wonders for my skin. It's specifically designed for blemished skin and since it's all natural, should be ok to use!
Also, no dry skin yet, though I hear that's a serious problem. Not something I'm looking forward to.

Actually, my dry skin has cleared up! I didn't have a problem with it the other times, so you may not be effected at all. :)

KissMyFace has a nice acne product called Botanical Acne Gel. I don't know how good it will be on serious acne but it should help if used regularly. That's my problem....I just never use any skin care product regularly enough to see the change. Esp. now... no energy to care about it!
