Hi,

My bestfriend and I are travelling to Ireland October '07, but are getting a jump on researching. Whom better to ask than y'all. We are having a ladies only sabbatical (no children or hubbies this trip), and would love to get suggestions on the best area to stay in SE Ireland. We are looking to rent a cottage/home somewhere in that area, that would be a great place to do day trips from. Or, just walk around a village if we do not feel like trecking around that day. I wanted a kitchen as I love to cook, and my uncle tells me all of the time that I just HAVE to sample the local markets and seafood while I am there :-). I know it's a expensive, but where I live here in the US is outrageous! Too many people with money came in and ruined our quiet little fishing town. Sorry, just a vent :-).

We may do a day trip to Dublin, but are actually just looking for a relaxing vacation, and of course a pub or two along the way, LOL...Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. If you're looking to visit Florida, USA anytime in the future, I would be more than happy to return the favor :-).

Where do I start ? The South East is beautiful and so is the South West...North East etc :wink Have a look at ireland.ie for ideas and some suggestions for what we call 'self catering' holidays...(ie you get a kitchen!)

The weather won't be brilliant in October as it'll be getting cold, September can be lovely and the days are still long (it doesn't get dark until around 9pm then) You'll have no bother finding lots of pubs - they are on every corner....same with churches :) Accomodation should be very reasonable in October too....just bring some wooly jumpers (sweaters) an umbrella and a map and you're off !

Thank you much Tracy. I cannot wait to go!! My friend and I are just going to rent a car, a cottage (with a kitchen), and make day trips. We want to see the sights, but want to be able to kick back and relax too. Thanks again.
