Hi there Las Vegas Mamas,
My dh is currently looking for a job and we may be relocating to lv. My dd (21 months) and I are currently taking a Waldorf mom and tot class in michigan. I have searched high and low via the internet and have found no information about Waldorf schools in Las Vegas. This is so surprising to me:confused: I really love the waldorf philosophy and am pretty bummed. Do any of you send your children to private school, and if so, do you mind giving me some advice about alternative schools? Thank you so much!:hippie

Hi Tiffany,
THANKS so much for answering my plea. I'm not sure if we are moving to Vegas yet but am getting info to be prepared. The Imprints schools sounds like a good alternative to Waldorf but I am soooo sad that there is not a Waldorf in vegas. Hard to believe because that is such a booming area. Does your child (ren) go to the Imprints school? Just curious as to what you think of the curriculum. thanks again for the info, I really appreciate it!:love :love :love

i cant wait for kyla to start! I think the fees listed on that page are for last year... and were raised a bit. I paid a $60 registration fee and will be paying $110 a month for the 2 day a week program :) I know that the 3 day a week program for this coming year (septemeber - may) is full. :) HTH

They are work cards needed for certain jobs.
If you work with food or drink or in a restaurant, or the like, you need a Health Card. It used to be that if you worked in an establishment or hotel that had gaming, ALL employees must have a Sheriff's card. Now, you only need a Sheriff's card if you handle gaming money or chips.

My SIL works at a public school in Las VEgas as a reading specialist. (Dolores Crane School?)

I'm still not completely sure on the cards.. i just know they are needed to work in the class. I believe the sherriff's card is just something you apply and pay for... the health card you actually have to take a class (its held after the monthly meetings and there are three sessions to it) ... i believe it encompasses things like CPR and safety stuff.

Hello All--
New here but wanted to give my two cents. I hear wonderful things about imprints. It is expensive but well worth it if you have the cash. I also here great things about the Montossori school in Henderson. I hear that the yahoo waldorf list isn't that great or active. I have a girlfriend who is very into the waldorf concepts and is very disappointed in the list.

thanks so much for your reply. I joined the nevada waldorf yahoo list and it is completely DEAD! What a bummer. Is your girlfreind also in Vegas that is interested in waldorf? We will be moving to Vegas over the summer and I wouldlove to get a waldorf playgroup and perhaps help to get a school started. I know it is a huge process but if enough people are interested, it may be attainable. I will check out the yahoo group that you posted. I joined las vegas radical mamas on yahoo and the concept is pretty similar to that of the group you mentioned. I wonder if the members are the same. The LVRM group is also big on alternative, natural parenting. It would be awesome to combine the two and have everyone all together...especially since there are not too many people. take care! :hippie

Yes, my waldorf friend does live here....in Henderson. I'm sure she would really love to meet you and hear your ideas.
As for LVRmom's, I haven't joined that group but have heard lots about it. I don't think the two would ever combine but there is no harm in joining both and being active in the play groups.
Hope your move goes smoothly.

Hi,
My husband (soulmate/best friend) and I are considering moving to Vegas with our 17 month old son Sequoia. I am not a trained waldorf teacher but I've been interested in Waldorf since I found out about it 10 years ago. I haven't lived near a teacher training program to get certified however, I've been reading a bunch and plan to continue. I'd love to start a group with some other moms if I come. I'm going to keep reading and visiting some groups on the west coast of Florida to get more experience and exposure. Hmm, are there some other families that would want to get involved? I'm simply inspired by waldorf but i'm open to other progressive, community based ideas.
