So I went to the dollar store and bought 2 pregnancy tests. Did the first one, set the timer for 3 minutes (packaging says results in 1-3 minutes), went back after 3 minutes, faint line!!! So I immediately grabbed the second test, set the timer for 1 minute, faint line!! They got really dark after like 5 minutes.
So after I cried in joy for a half hour, I need to know --- what test is the best one to go buy for a really solid positive?? Only because I want to be super sure before I surprise DH tonight! (plus if I tell him they were dollar store tests he'd probably be doubtful because he just has that pessimisticness about the $ store "crap"). So I need one that I can test now, not with first morning urine -- although I didn't use FMU with the dollar store ones. Which is the for sure for sure test??
I'm so excited!!!! I keep laughing, then crying in relief, I'm a basket case! We've been trying for 8 months.
My due date would be Dec 19th *if* God willing those dollar store tests were right and God willing the little bean stays safe and sound for 9 months -- he/she has a family of four just waiting to welcome them.
So, any ideas how to tell DH #3 is on the way when he gets home from work tonight?! How did you all tell SO?

My soon-to-be DH and I were together for the test. This was our first cycle trying. He did send me this later:
I have some information for your files,
A tidbit that might underline your day,
Most suited to the gentlest of smiles:
Please mark before you file it away.
Regarding information: some may render
Every passion previous absurd,
Giving your experience a splendor
New risen with the wonder of a word.
All you've ever known or has occurred
Now will be transfigured instantly:
To process, read the left side vertically.
You can sed this to friends and family, or write it/ print it out for DH. I personally like EPT brand tests, but try www.peeonastick.com for more info - I love that site!

I ended up getting the clear blue easy test (2 for $10, not bad) that has the digital read out. DH just couldn't process that a faint line is a positive so I got the other test and when it said "pregnant" I showed it to DH. He's convinced now that I am pregnant and not a little pregnant. :lol

ditto on the digital....there is no trying to second guess the faint line but be sure to wait until you are due for AF so you dont waste the $ on a false negative. And fwiw, every dollar tree test I have used (about 2 dozen of them) have ALL been very faint...but the more expensive brands are much clearer. CONGRATS MAMA!!!

Well, turns out he didn't really need convincing! He said although he was surprised, he's not that shocked. He strongly suspected on Sunday that I was... he was dismantling and cleaning the bbq grill and we were all outside and I fell asleep on the grass in the middle of the day. He said he was saying to himself "now there's a pregnant woman laying right there"! I said "why didn't you tell me"?! I didn't really suspect anything, just thought I was tired and bored. I suspected when I woke up Monday morning turned on my fertility monitor and it said Day 28 and I thought, hmm, I don't feel like I'm getting my period? went to the dollar store to dispell the thoughts in my head that I might be pregnant and voila!!

I used Dollar General tests, and yes they give a faint line, and it takes a full minute to show up! But they ARE accurate. They're actually pretty sensitive tests, and you can't beat $1 for such a sensitive test! they measure the same amount of hcg as First Response, and for a fraction of the cost. I bought 5 last time, and used them all up, just so I could see that bfp over and over again. :lol
And I agree with the PP that mentioned the peeonastick website. It is AWESOME. I now know WAY too much about pregnancy tests after reading that site. :lol

Golly, I looked everywhere for a dollar store test. I could not find them anywhere. The best I could do was the Target in-house brand. They only run $3-4 each, a lot less then the expensive ones!
Now I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and buy a digital test. My line was faint, too. You know, just to be sure. :wink
