I'm about 4 1/2 weeks along with this little bean. I have 2 beautiful boys who will be 7 and 3, respectively, in just a few months. Wee one is due in late December. I'm starting the process of interviewing midwives and looking forward to a homebirth.

I'm Mary, 40 year old, stay-at-home/homeschooling mama to these beautiful sprockets. Can't wait to start buying/making newborn/infant cloth diapers. Happy to look forward to nursing a newborn again. 2 3/4 year old still nurses some, but it's not the same as the connection of those early days.

I need to be 'around' other pregnant mamas who share some of my beliefs and priorities. I just found myself totally irate today because of a thread on another board where everyone was talking about how they would just be scheduling their c/s's now and attacking other members who tried suggesting that they look into the risks/benefits of VBAC over repeat c/s. I certainly stood out as the resident freak when advocating women to educate themselves about homebirth.

I love Mothering magazine and love being around other families for whom those pages speak volumes.

Welcome! I am brand new here, too. I just found out yesterday. This will be my first, and I am really excited that there are lots of experienced mamas here.

You are right -- it's really sad that there are women who are only a few weeks along and already planning their c-sections. The great thing about this board from what I have seen is that while most are very pro-natural birth, when a mama does end up having a c-section, they are very supportive and not judgemental. That's the best.

Congrats Mary- I agree it is calming to know people exist who believe birth is in most cases a life event, rather than a medical event.
