When I got pregnant with my DD, I was in the habit of taking a 3-4 mile walk almost every day, and I kept it up while I was pregnant. I couldn't keep walking quite that far the whole pregnancy, but I think by the end I could still walk a mile and a half. Actually, the evening before I went into labor, I walked 3 miles (hoping it would start labor), but it was really tough.

Exercise during pregnancy is generally considered a good thing. I don't think you have to worry walking will be bad for you or the baby. Walking a mile and a half probably won't seem very fun in your third trimester, but you probably will be able to do it.

I, too, had to take classes when I was pregnant with dd, it was an unexpected pregnancy, and I still had about 30 units to go before I was all done. I, too didn't drive to school. I took 2 busses to get to the nearest stop to school, and then had to walk a hilly walk for about 15 min. Needless to say I fought my way to get all my units done in summer ( in my second trimester), so I don't have to go to school in my last trimester. I couldn't imagine myself walking the hill in my last trimester, and knowing myself I thought I just couldn't concentrate on studying, what with all the excitement of the birth, etc. The walk, however, really help with my pushing time, I pushed for only 20 min before the baby came out.

I am sorry I am rambbling here... this is just my experience.

GathererGirl- Walking is excellent exercise while you are pregnant. I think as long as you feel ok doing it, you should keep it up. With my ds, I walked 3 miles everyday until I delivered, with no problems..and this pregnancy, I have been walking everyday at least 3 miles while pushing 2 toddlers in a stroller :lol . but that is exhausting! As far as the danger of the icy roads...definitely be careful! That could be hazardous for sure! I wish you the best!

I certainly agree that walking is great exercise for you and baby. I walked for exercise while I was pregnant. I do remember not wanting to get to far away from the house the last few weeks of the pregnancy for fear that my bladder would burst :lol . Other than that I loved walking up until the end of last trimester. Good luck!
