My Baby Nest, approx $50.

I've used this for 7 weeks now and I LOVE IT! I've tried other slings and they have all hurt my back, not this one. But my baby is only around 10 lbs right now. Hit the link and you can see pictures of different positions. So versatile! I'm in love with this thing, and so is my baby.

My BabyNest review

I was fortunate enough to get this product on a “try before you buy” program and the vendor was kind enough to let me use use for several months. Therefore I got to try it along with fellow NINO members ranging from less to more experienced.

Positives:

LOVED the style. The trim was so CUTE!

Loved that this product is a true original. There is nothing else like it….KUDOS!

Loved the material against my skin. Such a nice feel. We all wanted a sweatshirt made out of it!

The sewing was excellent on the carrier itself. (The bag has a small hole in the seam.)

The bag was convenient and cute!

Negatives:

10 % lycra was just too stretchy. It was comfy for about 20 minutes (baby’s size did not seem to matter as I tried it with different sized babies) but then it sagged and created painful pressure points for me. (And I always worry if the caregiver gets pressure points how must it feel for the baby?) The baby hung far too low with extended wear and the pouches did not adjust so nothing could be done to prevent it. The cross piece was not supportive enough to tighten the system sufficiently in my experience to compensate for lack of adjustability in the pouches.

The interlocked pouches did not work well IMO. It was very hard to put it on straight (correctly) and not have multiple twists in the pouches. I think it would have been easier to have two separate pouches and put one on over the other, like the slingset.

The support piece looked good, but with the thinness of the material and the serged edges, it would roll into itself and the support band itself would become smaller than optimum with extended wear. The rings seemed a complicated attachment. Again, I preferred the Velcro of the slingset.

Overall, I find a Moby more supportive and easier to use since it is less stretchy and possible to tighten for the same holds. For those intimidated or less inclined to learn to wrap, I would suggest the slingset which is a similar concept in that it has multiple parts.

I really cannot personally recommend My BabyNest as it was very painful with more than about a half an hour of wear.

However, with the designer’s penchant for originality and her eye for fabrics that look good with coordinated trimming, I hope she continues to make adjustments to improve fit and comfort or keeps trying for another unique design!

I think it was nice effort! :thumb

I am back! My baby is now 3 1/2 months and I have found that as she grows, this carrier is less comfortable. It worked wonderfully with my small newborn, but by the time she was about 11 weeks it began to get less comfortable. I agree with slingmomesq on many of the negatives. My baby began to sag, and the belt would roll and needed constant readjustment. The pouches were difficult to figure out, but I did get the hang of it after a few days and was able to put it on without the twists.

I recently purchased a Kozy and it is much more versatile and comfortable, especially for my growing baby. If we have another child, I am sure I will use the BabyNest during the newborn stage, as it is lighter and softer.
