I'm Meg (23) (24 when babe is born) married to my soul mate, Mickey (35) since November 2003. We live in Berkeley, CA in a beautiful old house overlooking the SF Bay and the Golden Gate bridge. I graduated from a liberal arts college last year with a degree in Women's Studies and Sociology and currently work as a healthworker at a sperm bank. I've taken a doula training and am an aspiring midwife. Dh is a college history/social science professor and is active in several non-profit political organizations. We have one cat, Abby, and are so thrilled to finally be expecting! We stated ttc in early 2005, and I was diagnosed with very mild hypothyroidism (so mild that my blood tests were nearly normal) early this year. 10 weeks after starting a tiny dose of thyroid meds, I got my :+. Overall, I'm feeling incredibly grateful and blessed (and a little tired).
Nice to meet you all! :love

Meggles- thanks for getting all these threads going! Its nice to have another TTC 12+ months grad on this board!
:wave I'm Naomi (24 now, 25 when the baby comes). My husband is Tanee (he's from Thailand hence the name nobody has probably heard of) and he's 26, but will be 27 when the baby comes. We've been married since August 21, 2002, but we've been together since 1996. Yup, married my high school sweetheart :love
We live in the suburbs of Seattle, Washington, sharing a rented house with my father. I've been a SAHM since the birth of my DD, Faith, born 12/21/03. She will be 3 (perhaps exactly 3) when this baby is born. We've been wanting another since she was 10 months old, but it took us 18 months to conceive. I am still breastfeeding her 1-2 times a day.
This baby is the answer to months and months of hopes and prayers. I am :D to meet you all and to share this journey with you!

Hi ladies!! First let me say I am so happy to be here with all of you!!:o
We were sort of TTC for the past 8 months. I say sort of because Dh didn't really agree. He was pulling out the whole time. This past month on April 16th he didn't pull out and it was my O day. 11 days later I got my :+ ! I never did chart. I started using OPK's two months ago and that helped a lot. I knew when I O but used the OPK's to make sure I was right. Dh didn't expect us to get pregnant so easy and either did myself, but glad he finally changed his mind.
I have wanted another baby since the day my son was born 5/12/04. My son has a brain disorder. Its also genetic. My dh and I both carry the gene for it. So we have a 1 and 4 chance of having another baby with Joubert Syndrome. My son also has visual impairments. I have prayed a lot for this baby to be healthy. My dream is to have a healthy child. I am feeling very good about this pregnancy and leave the rest to God.
This will most likely be our last child since there is such a big chance with having another child with a brain disorder.
I am 25 years old (will be 26 when the baby is born), my dh is 29. We recently moved from Texas to Louisiana last December. We sold our home because we couldn't get health care for my son. Now my dh is working for himself and we are doing much better. We also now have healthcare for my son. We do live with my father in law. We just bought 15 acres of land to build a home on but we plan to pay off all our bills and the land before we move there. So could be years from now. :irked: We have a horse and a cat. The horse isn't at our home but stays at a place close to where our home will be. We just got him a few months back and we are training him. He is a very sweet horse.
Sorry I went on and on. I look forward to getting to know you all more and more!:rocks

Hey Meg and TempestJewel.
Looks like another TTc 12+months is joining you. Just got my BFP. I'm still in shock.
Hi I'm Be. I'll be 34 the end of this month. I live in Massachusetts with DH (also turning 34 a week after me), DD who is 3y4m, a dog, 2 cats and a tank of fish. We moved into our second home in AUgust. We'd been living in a more urban town, we're now in rural suburbia. I have a Master's in Library Science but have been home since my dd was born in dec.02. We've been trying to get pregnant with #2 since September 04. I had an early m/c in October (that lasted most of November). I'm a little nervous. Hoping for a homebirth.

so happy to be part of this group! :love
My name is Sarah (26), and I live in a liberal island of KS with my husband of 5 years, Jason, and my 23 month old son, Noah. They are the two brightest lights in my life. :heartbeat
This pregnancy was a bit of a shock for us, but welcomed and loved.
I worked as a sign language interpreter before my son was born, and I now stay home with him, and teach infant toddler sign language classes. We signed with Noah, and he started communicating with us months before he could speak, and we plan on signing with this one as well. I am also a free lance photographer. This is my love job. I specialize in maternity, children, and birth. I had a hospital birth with Noah, (natural, doula, etc.) but plan to have our first homebirth this go around. We are also going to try our hand at cloth dipes this time...:D
Looking forward to learning from, venting with, crying on and celebrating with each of you!

My name is Carrie. We live in Seattle. We are a bit shocked by this pregnancy, we were being pretty careful, condoms the occasional pull out. That combined with the fact that I only have one fallopian tube that is working makes me think this must be one head strong little person! We definitly wanted more children but we were thinking closer to trying a year from now. After we got an addition on our 500 square foot house, so now we have to get creative with the living space! I am hoping for a home birth this time around last birth was in the hospital with pitocin after 12 hours of walking to try to bring on contractions (after water broke) and the cascade of interventions that followed that, my son was a vaginal birth but just barely! All in all we are excited and suprised!!!

Hi I am Jaime (29) wife to Steve (36) and Mama to Zachary (3.5) we recently moved from Pennsylvania to Florida..and even though we are thrilled and wanted another baby..we are kind of shocked at how quickly it happened. We just stopped using condoms in March. We would like a little girl to round out the testosterone levels in this house but we will be happy with whatever fate delivers..I am currently a stay at home Mama..I was planning on going back to work in august when my DS starts PreSchool... still might depending on how I feel at the time. I am so happy to be here and am looking forward to getting to know my fellow clubbers the next 9 months.. btw my EDD is 01/07/07.
January 2007 DDC ROCKS!!! woohoo!!! ok I am a dork.

Hi Ladies! I'm so glad to meet you!
I'm mamallama, mama to two girls, age 4.5 & 7. We homeschool and love it. I babysit a (signing) two year old 3 days/week. We like that ok too, but it was more fun a year ago when she wasn't getting into everything and could take her nap wherever we happened to be! This summer I'll also babysit her 7 yo brother. I'll quit watching both of them when school resumes in the fall. For now, I'm glad to have the work. I need to pay the midwife!
I'm also a doula. I worked a lot the first couple of years, but then my childcare situation changed and I couldn't find a suitable replacement, so now I only attend the occasional birth. Friends & family, mainly. I'm disappointed that I can't do more birthwork right now, but I'm confident that if it's meant to be, it will come back around.
I'm in my 30's. Dh and I have been together for 12 years. We're still best friends.
Being pregnant again is comforting and alien at the same time. I've been pregnant or nursing or both for 6 of the past 8 years. This will definately be our last baby.
Hi, I'm Cveta,
I'm originally from Serbia, but lived my whole life in NY.
I'm 27 and my husband, Mato, is 28. We have a darling three-year-old daughter, Eva.
My husband works for the UN and 2 1/2 yrs. ago managed to get a contract working in Serbia so we are living in Belgrade now.
It has been quite a culture shock for us but we are dealing with it.
I am five weeks pregnant today.
Also, I had a m/c in the 10th wk in Jan 05. So we are very excited but a bit nervous about this pregnancy!
Great to meet all of you!
Thalia
05-04-2006, 07:34 AM
I'm Julie (Thalia), 33 and married to Mark (wordyeight) for 3.5 years now. Marriage has been the very best part of my life, so I am looking forward to seeing what expanding our little family will mean! DH is a professional writer who works from home when not doing contract gigs on site, but he is looking for a full-time position to give us more options in the future. I graduated with a doctorate in linguistics years ago and now work full-time at a big private university, running language programs for three of the university's schools. We are also lay co-pastors of a small group for our church, meeting with 22 people on a weely basis for worship, study, prayer, and raucous fun.
This last year has been so busy for both of us--we're working crazy hours and we've had to work hard to make sure we still have quality time with one another, so we know we are in for a BIG change when this baby comes. I'll take three months off after the birth, and then we will see what choice seems right for us. The childcare offerings at my university are not great (no childcare at all onsite!), but I work in a small department that is based in what used to be a house, so my office is quite homelike and I am considering taking the baby to work part-time, at least when he/she is small, but maybe even after that. I love my job: it's unique and would be hard to find anywhere else, so it would be hard to give it up in some ways, but it is also demanding. I've always wanted to be a mom, and so I could see being a full-time SAHM, too. I think I can picture almost any combination of work/life right now!
We spent a year TTC, so we are feeling incredibly blessed right now, and still a bit in shock. Part of me thought it would never happen! I will be so relieved to get past the 12th week, and I can't wait to tell all the people who have been praying for us our good news. This will be the first grandchild on both sides of our family, so this is a very much anticipated little person.

I'm Erin (turn 26 on monday). I've been married to Stewart for 7 years. He is in the air force and is a full time student as well. We have two beautiful boys Sade age 6 and Ethan who is almost 4.
This is my 5th pregnancy, I've had two miscarriages in the past year, one last april of 05 and one in november. I'm a little nervous about this one and won't breath easy until I make it to my second trimester.

05-04-2006, 11:42 AM
I'm Danielle and am 30 yrs. old. I have one son who is 21 months and am so thrilled to be expecting again!!! We've been ttc for about a year now. This last month I decided I wasn't going to stress about getting pregnant and I really just gave the whole thing to God and was finally okay with just having my son. Then, I got blessed with being pregnant. :lol I really couldn't be happier.
We have our house on the market and are trying to get some land. We keep bees, chickens and we garden (in the suburbs) but we really would like to have a milk cow and a bigger garden. Here is my blog: www.pithycraggle.blogspot.com
I make diapers and crochet soakers, shorties and longies. I love cloth diapering, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

My name is Olivia. I'm 32 (will be 33 when the baby is born), and I live in Ohio. I have two dd's who turn 7 and 4 this month. This is definitely our last baby, so I am looking forward to all the changes pregnancy brings. This is something I've wanted for a couple of years now, so I am thrilled to be expecting again. I'm due 1/7/07.
My last two births were in the hospital. While pg with my first I had PIH, so I was on bedrest for the last six weeks, had an early induction, epidural, the whole nine yards. With my last dd, we moved to a new town when I was seven months, so I had to switch dr.'s at the last minute. I had hoped to have ncb, but I caved under pressure at 7 cm and had the epi. She ended up being posterior, so after 4 hours of pushing, I finally had to have an episiotomy and a forceps delivery. Recovery was terrible. I couldn't sit down without a donut pillow for two weeks.
With this birth, I am planning a home water birth. I don't want to repeat any part of my last birthing experience. The OBs here are old-school, and not ncb-friendly. They'll let you go natural, but no laboring tubs, constant monitoring, and when it comes time to push, it's laying on your back with your feet in stiruups.
Let's see, what else . . . I'm a SAHM, have been for 4.5 years. I cloth diapered dd #2 and plan to do so again. FB's and cpf's. I've been married to a wonderful dh for 8.5 years. He turns 38 tomorrow. His job allows him to have four months off every winter, so he won't be working when the baby is due. Yay!
Nice to meet everybody.

Hi Ladies.
My name is Laura. I am married to my husband Bryan for over 7 years and together 10 years as of tomorrow. I am 26, (27 next month) and my hubby is 31. I have one daughter Ashlynn, that is just about 16 months old. Looks like I have the youngest sibling in this group so far. :wink We have been living in Las Vegas for 6 years now. We both are originally born and raised in So. CA.
This was our 2 month TTC and I cannot believe we are pregnant! :yikes: It took us a year to get pregnant with our first. We feel truly blessed though and are very excited. I think we are pretty set on having just 2 kids. We said that we will wait and see though before making any final decision once baby #2 arrives.
Lets see...what else about me...oh, I am a natural mama convert as of recently. Had a *horrible* hospital birth with Ashlynn and literally it has changed my life. I started researching about all sorts of things after her birth, and by the time she was about 6 months I would say I became a natural/crunchy mom. I just needed to knowledge to find my path in life. I sometimes am sad when I think of all the things I didnt know in regards to my first birth, as well as life in general. My family was and still is very very traditional in almost every sense of the word. Because of this, and having a small family, becoming the person and mother I am now has been very hard. Even on my marriage. My husband is slowly adjusting. He respects me and for that I am very very apprecaitive. He and I have been through *everything* life can dish us in the past 10 years. This past year has been pretty up and down though, with my changing attitude. I know that we will be okay and that I must learn :shy that I cannot expect everyone to be or think like me, not even my husband. With this mindset I know things will be just fine. Like I said, it just gets rough sometimes, thats all.
Anyway, I am thrilled about this pregnancy. I am planning a home waterbirth with a midwife attending. I have learned so much about birthing from research, reading tons of books and going to a birth network here locally. I cannot see having birth any other way now.
With that being said, I want to say that I look forward to sharing this journey with you all. Thank you for allowing me to share a little bit about myself.:)

Hi everyone! I'm Bliss, 35 yo SAHM to Jack, who is 18 months old and the light of my life. I am also lucky to have two more boys - my wonderful stepsons, Carter, 8, and Hunter, 6. Lots of TESTOSTERONE in this house! :lol We have another due 1/1/07, maybe this will be a girl? (Yeah, right. I'm not holding my breath! :lol)
In my former life, I was a litigation attorney. While I loved that (and I think I was pretty good, if I do say so myself), I love love LOVE being a mother, at home with my babe. We have cloth diapered since birth, and I love knitting wool soakers (and other things.) I am TOTALLY psyched about having two in dipes (assuming that Jack hasn't potty learned by then..who knows?)
We live in a suburb of Atlanta, GA, but in my heart, I am still a Minnesota girl (born and raised.)
So wonderful to meet you all!

Hi Everyone! I'm Kristal (24), married to Josh (26 when baby comes). We're both grad students in Northern Utah. This is our first, and we're both very excited and nervous about everything. I'm bouncing between the December and January DDCs (due Dec. 30th). Haven't told the grandparents-to-be yet, but I'm sure they'll all be thrilled, as Josh and I are both the oldest in our families and no one else has kids yet.

Hi I am michelle (36) married to kevin (36) . I just found out we are expecting number baby # 2.. We were going to start trying this summer, but we got ahead of ourselves a little bit... I am happy to be here, although it still seems very unreal to me.. I look forward to hanging around on this board with all of you ladies!

:lol We got ahead of ourselves too, as we were going to wait a bit longer (our son is 7 mo.) Glad we aren't the only ones w/ close soon to be sibs. My older dd's are 13 months apart, I think my body likes having babies close together :lol
Anyway, I'm Sarah (32) married to John (38) for almost 3 years. I have 2dd's from my first marriage, they are great :love and super helpful sissies. We were planning another sibling after Taite, just not quite this soon, but we are definitely happy. Over the last year we have been building our dream house, and plan to go off the grid, though we aren't starting that way. Self sufficiency in all aspects is our ultimate goal, but some parts will come easier than others. :wink I have almost finished a degree in Sociology (nice to see all of you social science folks!) but alas, it will be put on the back burner again for awhile. I love gardening but it will be a challenge to start new gardens w/ a babe and pg, though we do have pocket gardens of different stuff around the property.
The only pg related issue that concerns me is the size of the new little bean. Taite was 9lb 11oz, drastically bigger than his sisters, so if this one is bigger - Aye Aye Aye! I look forward to getting to know you mammas during our journey.

can I join in?I have got all the symptoms...just waiting to test( I have lower levels of that hormone, so testing early is out for me.
My period is usually about 3-4 days and heavy, like cramping, headache, have to nap the first day, heavy. Wasn't like that this time around, I bled lightly for 5 days.No cramping. And I've got all the classic symptoms. So, we'll see!
My name is leila,(26, will be 27 in June!) married to Adam, married for 7 years, have 2 beautiful kids, Zoe, and Josiah(born on my b-day!)....lets see....I am from Florida, went to bible college at Oral roberts University, met Adam, left early to move to San Diego to get married. Moved around a bit since then, on the West Coast, and are setled somewhat in the Bay Area now.
My kids are big as babies, but skinny! So, by my current calculations, this next baby will be 10, 3.:lol

Hi there & congrats to everyone!
I'm Christina and am apparently pregnant with #1 (EDD 1-04-07). I'm 31 and my hubby is 36. We've been married for almost 9 years, together for 11. I'm an attorney in Orange County, California. Our puppy dogs, Ojai and Roscoe, are the sunshine in my life!
I'm very nervous about this pregnancy because I had a miscarriage in December 2005 at 12 weeks (the hardest thing I've ever gone through), but I am really hoping that this one works out. None of my friends are into "alternative" parenting of any kind, so I am really glad this board exists so I can feel like I'm not only one who wants to (gasp!) use cloth diapers, etc. :wink
I look forward to getting to know some of you!

Hi! My name is Nina. I have been married to my wonderful husband Alvaro for almost 5 yrs. He is Ecuadorian and we met and married down there, then I imported him back here (to stay I hope!). We had a surprise pregancy in January 05 and my son Simon was born. He is amazing and B-U-S-Y!! And I can't believe how exhausted I am nowadays. I am a SAHM and love it. I also use cloth diapers which I love as well.
Our new little one is due 1-2-07 - I just went to the doctors today (lots of blood and pee given :) and there will be exacly 24 mos. between our two babes.
I am a little worried because Simon was 13 days overdue and I really did not want to induce- and squeeked by one day early before I was scheduled for induction. So, I tried to get the due date pushed back a little- but they wouldn't go fo that at the hospital. I would like to have a home birth, but we can't afford the extra cost right now.
Anyway, It is great to meet everyone and I am so happy you are here to talk to!

Hi! I'm Stephanie (29) and I just confirmed this morning that I am pg with #2.:+ :love EDD is 1/18/08. I have a DS (19 mo) and have been married to DH for 4 yrs. We live in Little Rock but will be moving back to our college town, Jonesboro, this summer. DH works for a university, and just got a promotion that will take us back to campus, and I'm going to get to be a SAHM now!!! So happy, relieved, excited, thankful.
My birth experience with DS in Oct. O4 ended in a c-section after a homebirth transfer. :( I have been actively researching all things VBAC for the past several months. In Ark., midwives are not allowed to attend homebirth VBACs, but I'm pretty sure that we are going to go for it anyway. It seems like birthing in the hospital will almost guarantee a repeat c-section, because of all of the interventions they will want to introduce, so I am going to avoid the hospital if I can. Also, Northeast Ark. is much less VBAC friendly (not that Little Rock is "VBAC friendly" in any way). I've at least found an OB in LR who will do a VBAC with intermittent monitoring, and I doubt that I'll find an OB in Jboro who will even allow a VBAC at all.
Other "get to know you" info about me:
I love to read, and I love TV and movies. I'm the oldest of 4 kids, all extended breastfed (:love thanks mom!). Through July, I'll continue working at my current job as a fundraising consultant, where I've been lucky enough to take DS to work with me ever since he was a tiny infant. It has been quite a challenge, but it has also been wonderful. But I can't WAIT to be a full-time at home mom!:jumpers:
Can't wait to get to know all of you over the next 40 weeks!!!

Here's my intro... I'm a lurker but I suspect I will be posting a lot more. I am Jessica, just found out we are expecting #3 (my 2nd with my husband) in Jan. 2007. Wow! That sounds so far away. I have 2 sons that were both born at home so we are obviously die-hard homebirthers. We are buying a new house right now and one of the first things my dh said was, "We should put the waterbirth tub in this room." We had only been barely trying so I am a little surprised it happened right now. I was charting and nursing my 19 month old so I really couldn't tell that I was ovulating. Guess I was! Oh, and I am a doula, a childbirth educator and a registered nurse who loves doing homebirth with midwives.
Can't wait to "meet" all the rest of Jan. 2007!

I can offically join now!!! I have to tell someone!!!
YEAH!
Im Kelli (31 last week) married to Bill (31 for a bit longer). We have one great DS Sam who will be 3 in June. We live south of Boston with our doggie Phaedrus and 2 now healthy fishies.
We finally are pg with #2...I am still nursing DS, and needed to go on the pill to get AF back in November and have been TTC ever since. After a funky cycle, O'd on day 10, finally got BFP 18 DPO. Just had a beta HCG done today to confirm and it was 111 - bit lower than what I would have thought, but, Im ok with if it keeps growing!
As far as birth place...I'm torn. We are hoping to move soon, but the folks we are buying from are waiting on elderly housing. I am on the top floor of our 2 family, and concerned the floors wont hold a tub up. I did have a great hospital birth with DS, and arent really opposed to seeing the same MW and doing the hospital thing again, but, I want to be home. I can imagine its just amazing. Thinking about using someone elses home (either my parents or my SIL whose a CNM but in a different state...)
DS was incredibly late, I think I just grow things at a different rate. His heart beat wasnt detected (even on a level 2 ultrasound) til after 10 weeks. My uterus is tilted so far back it makes things a bit scary at first.
Anyways, cant wait to chat with you all soon!!
:D
:sticky: to you all!!

Well what a MOther's Day present: I just got my BFP! I'm Kerri (25) and my DF is Jared (21). I have one DS (17 mos) from a previous relationship though DF is the only father he's ever known :love WE're planning a homebirth in the water this time after complications forced me into the hospital and DS into the NICU last time :irked: We're also planning to cloth diaper this one from day 1, started DS at 6 mos. and LOVE it! Currently addicted to cute wool and flats :innocent Our due date is 1/24/2007 if all goes well. We had a m/c in Feb. when we got pg while taking the pill correctly and weren't aware, so I'm hoping for a sticky babe! Can't wait to get ot know all of you :love

Hello! I just got back from being out of town and it was killing me not to join the Jan DDC right away!
My name is Katherine and I’m 24 years old (will be 25 when this little one is born). I’ve been married to my DH Dan for nearly 3 years and this will be our first child. We’re in the midst of an enormous move right now; Dan is a newly graduated chiropractor and he’s accepted a position as an associate in a practice in rural Washington (80 miles north of Seattle). This wouldn’t be a big deal if we didn’t currently live in St. Louis, MO, and ALL of family didn’t live in Michigan. ARGH! I currently work in publishing but I'm going to start taking prerequisite classes soon for a second Bachelor’s in dietetics. I love to grow edible yummies in my container garden and I’m very passionate about eating well.
I’m planning on finding a great midwife when we get to Washington in late June and working out my birth plan from there. I’d prefer to birth at a birthing center, but we’ll see if I end up a home-birther!

I just took a couple of tests and here I am. My name is Tracy, I'm 40. Most of my family info is in my sig. We had Michael a mere 5 months ago. Everyone had been asking when we were going to have another, especially since the loss of one of the twins and considering that I'm not getting any younger :D.
We'd called the fertility clinic that assisted w/ the pregnancy of the twins to see when we could start treatments. They told us my second cycle after I was done nursing. We never got to it. My first postpartum cycle started April 12 and that was it. A friend of mine jokingly told me I was probaby pregnant since I was late. I laughed but went to and picked up tests on my way home.
I'm thrilled, but I was really into losing the millions of extra pounds I've been carrying around for the last 30-something years. Oh well, that's going to have to wait now.

Hi everyone! I just found out last night that I was pregnant and I am still in shock. We weren't expecting this, so I am wrapping my head around it at the moment.
I'm Stacey (31) and my dh and I have one 20 month old, Kate.
Look forward to joining you on this journey.:love

Hi Everyone! We also got a surprise!
I am 31, and DH is 39.
We have a beautiful DS, Daniel who was three at the beginning of May. I am very excited about this pregnancy, and I am hoping not to be insanely nauseous like I was last time. :-)

Hello ladies,
My name is Sylvia (30) new to this area. I have a wonderful husband Andy (31) that is doing his residency in Wisconsin. I have a 10year old daughter and a 12year old stepson. I found out that I was finally pregnant after TTC for 4 months. I do have one question. I have lost most of my energy. I use to drink a cup of coffee everymorning, but since TTC I gave it up. I am now a stay at home mom and can't seem to get the strenght to get up and clean. Hubby doesn't like that. If anyone has any suggestions please send them my way.

I'm Deb. I have 3 kids, ages 8, 5, and 3. #4 is due January 27th, but I'll probably give birth in February. The first three are from my high school sweetheart (now ex husband). My current boyfriend is very happy about the pregnancy, though we're both still in shock. He has no other children, so he's pretty much a blank slate when it comes to pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. He knows my philosophies, though, and respects it. I even showed him some of my Mothering magazines to introduce him to Natural Family Living, and he hasn't voiced any disproval.
I'm going to have a UC. I don't vax or circ. I'm hoping to get a cloth diaper stash collected. I cosleep with my babies and babywear.

I am Valerie (36) married to dh (39). We have a 3.5 year old daughter and a 19 month old son. Expecting our third child on or after 1-9-07. Why should this one want to be on time or early? It would ruin the trend. :lol Going for a VBAC. DS was trying to come out ear first and got wedged in pretty tightly. :irked: Still trying to get used to the idea that the kids will outnumber the adults.

Hello, my name is Starr. My husband and I just found out we are pregnant. We are sooo excited. We have been married 8 years and tring to concieve for four months. About 10 years ago, when i was a teenager, when me husband and I were dating, we suffered two miscarriages, so we are a bit nervous about this baby. Every time i get a little cramp, i am running to the bathroom and almost in tears. my first prenantal appointment is not until july 5, 2006, because of my work schedule. meanwhile i am taking vitiamins and just praying and praying that our baby will be okay. according to my last period, i am due 1/18/07

HI! Carrie here... I am 27 married to my highschool sweetheart who is 29. We have a 2 year old daughter, who is still nursing, ALOT! I'm not sure on due dates because I went off the pill in early April and never had a period. My best guess puts us in mid-January. Myself and DH both have January birthdays and DD is also an early Feb. baby. Good time of the year, I guess?!
I work part-time as a nutrition educator for my state's cooperative extension system. I really like my job-- very flexible, self scheduled, interesting, and I get to teach about breastfeeding! I recently donated a kidney to my Dad (February). We had a m/c in November, very early on. I am taking things a day at a time with this PG. I find myself worrying alot and I am trying to relax!
We are planning a hospital birth with the same CNM's that delivered DD. Although we are toying with a home birth, but we are pretty far away from a hospital and we were very happy with our CNM's! We will be peaking at 20 weeks :) We are way too impatient to wait!
Congrats to everyone!

Hola,
I'm a 29 year old mami to an 8 year old daughter. I just found out over ny birthday/mother's day weekend that I'm pregnant with #2 with boyfriend, so we're a little stressed because we actually haven't been together long and don't live together, pero that is all going to change very quickly.
I'm a freelance writer, poet, and occasional private tutor who works from home so that's nice although it means no insurance, so we'll see how we deal with that.
We are planning to do a birthing center birth with a midwife. I had my first daughter at 20, was single and alone and did the hospital thing because it was what you were supposed to do. But this time I want to be more in control.

Hi there. Got my BFP so I guess I'm here! EDD 1/25/07
This is #3 for us, we had decided we were done but then both had a change of heart in the last few months and decided to go for it. My older kids are DS 5 1/2 and DD almost 3.
I am a postpartum doula and hope to be a birth doula when my kidlets are a little bigger. I was trying to decide if I should go for my training now or have another baby, I guess the baby won! :lol
I'm looking forward to another homebirth. (DD was born at home, DS at a FSBC.) I'm trying to work through some of issues from the precipitous labor I had with DD... I didnt realize how overwhelming it was until I realized I'd have to do it again. :o
Glad to meet you all.
Hi, I'm nervous about posting here...this is the third time I've become pregnant in the past 8 months, and I'm worried about having another m/c. I need some serious sticky vibes here. :) I really want this baby, and I'm so happy to be carrying her!
I'm Fay, 34 year old stay-at-home mom of a 5 year old boy with autism. My miscarriages were hard for DH, and I think he'll want to stop trying if I lose this pg. Right now, I'm just focusing on growing and loving this baby.
I knew that we had conceived almost immediately, but just got a BFP test yesterday. I'm trying to come up with a good nickname for this one...yesterday I called her "Sweet Potato," today "Garbanzo." I want to talk to her and sing to her every day.
Hi, I'm Laura (20) married to DH (39) for almost one year, been ttc a long 9 months, we had finally given up, and tonight I got my BFP!
My EDD is January 18, and today I am 5w0d.
We have no children, just two dogs and a cat, we live in Birmingham, AL and we are both estatic! and a lot in shock that we are going to be parents!
We are planning an UP/UC in the safety of our own home.
I'm looking so foward to getting to know everyone!

Hi, I'm Sarah (have you noticed there are about 7 Sarah's in this DDC:lol ). I'm 28 and my husband and I have a 25 month old son. We weren't really trying but dh had just said a few days before this baby was conceived that he wanted another baby and then, boom, you know how it goes :innocent . Ds was a surprise (we weren't even living together when he was conceived) so this time I feel a lot more relaxed and prepared for the journey ahead.
Ds was born at home with a midwife who drove 4 hours to be at my birth :jaw and I had a 5 hour labor so I think I need to figure something else out this time. Even if she agreed to come this far again I don't think she'd make it before the baby was born. We shall see. My biggest hope and aspiration for this birth (well, besides avoiding major problems of course) is to not tear. :thumb I did last time and man, that sucks.
Looking forward to getting to know ya'll via cyberspace. :lol

Hi
I'm Melanie. Married to Elyas since 1/17/04. Mama to Zaker, born 10/8/04 via induction but vaginally with minimal medication and the help of the WORLD"S GREATEST DOULA!! :)
And now.....mama-to-be AGAIN to someone arriving around mid-late January (edd 1/21/07) HOPEFULLY, God willing, with the assistance of the WORLD'S BEST MIDWIFE (NOT an OB, I'm not sick I'm pregnant thanks) and the WORLD"s GREATEST DOULA (already booked, I'm her first 2007 client!) I told her she would be the FIRST call I made when I got my BFP, and she was. :) Without an induction and no drugs, thank you, but in a hospital because I'm just not up to an unassisted homebirth....
Hoping for a H&H9 :)

My name is Sabrina (Citoyenne) and I am still a bit in shock that I am pregnant with number 2! Although the morning sickness is starting to set in and make it a bit more real. We were going to start TTC this summer, as we have a big trip to Europe planned in June/July, but stuff happens, and I guess I'll learn how to find saltines in various countries!
DD is 20 months old and still nurses a lot...I'm already getting some heat from folks that I need to wean her, but I'm looking forward to finding other pregnant and nursing moms.
DD was born in Tokyo in a hospital in the Japanese version of natural birth, which for me meant a week of pre-term labor (contractions every 3 to 7 minutes, but no dilation and very little sleep), my water breaking with meconium and then receiving pitocin, and 4 really intense hours later, DD being born. I am really interested in a midwife delivery this time around.
We live in the Seattle area now, I was a teacher, am a SAHM now, but hope to return to the classroom again some day...I want to cloth diaper, and want to learn more!
I'm excited to be joining this list with Mothering...its so nice to find like-minded people!

My name is Carmen. I've been married to my DH for 8 years and we have 2 children, 3 1/2 and 20 months. DD was born in a hospital with a nurse midwife and DS was born at home in the tub. We are planning another home waterbirth for this baby.
I am an aspiring midwife (when the kids are grown) and a soon to be certified childbirth educator. I work part time at a Birth Center as a midwife's assistant. I only work 1 day a week in the office and then am on call about 7days a month for births. I LOVE it!! It's perfect for me...I get to be home with my children almost every day, but still get to work in the field of childbirth.
Baby is due mid Jan. Jan 17th is the EDD, but we're expecting him/her a bit earlier since I have never made it to my EDD yet. There's a first for everything though, so who knows...

Hi I'm Nicola (34) I am really happy to be expecting again, even though don't know HOW I'll survive chasing after my DS when I'm the size of a house. #2 is due on #1's 3rd birthday - January 13th
We live in Wilton, CT although originally we're from the UK. Teddy was born in Japan so things are going to be a bit different this time.
I have visions of having a home birth in the middle of a snowstorm. Got some convincing to do before DH buys into that one!

I have visions of having a home birth in the middle of a snowstorm. Got some convincing to do before DH buys into that one! Nicola
Nicola, I had the same thought...especially since my dear friend/midwife lives over 2 hours away!
I bet others here have had this thought as well...home, bc or hosp, it will be snow season for some of us. :lol
But I have missed births before and fast labors, where one would miss the birth, never seem to have time to compromise the babe. This always gives me peace. I am not sure if it really would worry me at my own birth, maybe for a minute but then...I wonder if I would try to listen with my doppler or if I would just do it? I wonder how much of a midwife I will be at my own birth? :)
Ah, I am such a green primip! Elderly primip, that is. :lol

Hello mamas-to-be! I'm Allison, 32 (33 when baby is born) mother of a 2 yo still-nursing ds born in April 2004, & wife of Jason since Sept 1998. We were kinda-sorta TTC. We want more kids but were not overly anxious for it right now.. just were ttc in case it took us awhile, since charting hasn't been working for me (temping doesn't work right now due to ds's night nursing keeping my sleep erratic and spotty). Two months later here I am. I got a :+ 2 weeks ago and decided to pop in here and join the fun. Based on probable O date, which I guessed by CM and O pains, my edd is 1/19/2007, and is more or less the same as edd based on lmp.
DS was born with an OB in a hospital. We had a doula and nearly had an all natural birth, but I ended up with a dose of narcotics halfway through. This time around I am hoping for a home waterbith, but that will depend on whether we can get the money together.
What else... in my life outside of kids, I was a technical writer before staying home with ds, I do some web design, I'm a labor doula, and a big breastfeeding advocate. I love reading, playing games, pilates, bellydance, running, and knitting. That about covers it :)
Congratulations to you all - thinking sticky thoughts for everyone.

Hi. My name is Rebekah, I am 24 and will be 25 when this baby is born. My husband is 25 and will be 26.
This pregnancy was a surprise since my ds was only 4 months old when I conceived. I never thought I would be one of "those people" that have babies so close together. I am a bit nervous to say the least. They will be about 12 months apart. This one is due Jan 16 but my babies usually come two weeks and a couple days early... if that is the case this one might be New Year's Baby!
My first, my daughter was born 2 weeks early and was 7 lbs and 14 oz. My second, my son, was also born 2 weeks early and was 9 lbs 12 oz, he had shoulder distocia. So I am really scared that if I follow my previous pattern that this one will be HUGE! I am really scared this one will get stuck too!
My midwife rocks!!! She works in a hospital, but this hospital is all about natural birth and the midwives are there more than the doctors. I love it! She has delivered both of my babies and I didn't tear with either one!! With my son I did it natural, he was huge and his shoulders got stuck. After all that I never tore... I give her a lot of credit! Not to mention my nether regions seem to have been built for babies.
This one will be our last. I am just praying to get to 12 weeks. We had a miscarriage between dd and ds so I am a bit leery whenever I get pregnant.
Hope to see us all stick around!!

:balloons Hello! My name is Christy. 26 years old, married to my high school sweet heart and love of my life Richard. Love with all my heart my step daughter who lives with us Olivia, 5 years old.
I am a Registered Nurse. Attended ETSU where I got my BSN and specialized in high risk pregnancy and deliveries. Live in East TN and LOVE my life. I am highly energetic and love to have a positive outlook always.
Love my job but I will tell you that it is hard to do this for a living and then relate it to a personal level. I miscarried on New Years Day of this year and have been very skeptical since beginning to try to concieve 1 1/2 ago. When I do get pregnant, its so fantastic its like its to good to be true. I know that things are norm, feelings, worrying, etc. but IT FEELS SO GOOD to be able to talk to other people experiencing the same thing to reassure me. Its like when you go to the Dr. and they tell you that everything is alright and you are thinking to yourself..."What is it that they are not telling me?"
EDD: 1/26/07
Its all I want to think and talk about! Its always on my mind! :+

Hello! I'm Jill. I just took a test to confirm my pregnancy yesterday, but I was feeling kind of pregnant and all of a sudden my clothes were fitting funny last week, so I was kind of suspecting. I just got my period back in FEb., so we had just started to kind of try. We're still surprised.
I have a 20 mo old ds who nurses about 100 times a day and is very energetic and demanding. I'm married to a minister. We live in central Saskatchewan, Canada.
Since there are no midwives available in this area and I don't even have a doctor since mine moved last year, I will be giving birth in the hospital, probably with the help of whoever is on call (we live in a fairly small town, and its hard to attract doctors). Ds was born in hospital with an OB because there was a possiblilty of complications, but there weren't any. :thumb

I'm Caurie (30) Married to Arthur (38) and the parents of a beautiful 2.5 year old son/nursling Brice. Our nest is in Brockport, NY. Art is a dentist and I am a SAHM and freelance writer. I am due January 29, 2007. This pregnancy came as a surprise - a vacation baby from the Outer Banks of North Carolina :wink :o We had planned to wait longer because I was incredibly sick with Brice :fever: :( - I had hyperemisis (severe vomiting - lost 20 pds. the first four months of pregnancy) I was in the hospital or on bed rest most of my pregnancy. This pregnancy my OB has started chemotherapy drugs to hopefully ward off the vomiting already - so far so good!!!! I am thrilled to be here - but scared too!!!!!

Hey everyone! Havn't read the rest of the thread but thought I should introduce myself since I've been posting. Promise I'll go through & read the rest of the intros as time allows.
Anyway, I'm Holly. We live in NE NY. I'm a SAHM to one DD who is 20 months old. I'm due sometime between mid Jan & mid Feb. Will have a better idea after I meet with the midwife next week. DH is a part-time student finishing his BS & part-time employee supporting us. We were slightly suprised to find out we're expecting again. We were trying, but it had only been 6 months. We tried for 5 years with DD because of my PCOS! So it was a shock it happened so fast, but we're thrilled. And very happy the kids will only be 28 months apart in age.
I will probably have another natural birth in the hospital. I am doing some research into homebirth, but there isn't really anyone in our area to attend. I do have an excellent group of natural birth friendly midwives though at my OB/GYN practice. :thumb My friend has already birthed naturally with them twice & has only good things to say about their care.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi all!
I got a BFP yesterday, for the first time in my life. DH and I have been trying for five years and were about to start with fertility testing next month!
My EDD is 1/27/07 until the Dr says differently.
I just had to send a special congrats to you. My DH & I also tried for 5 years to conceive DD. Almost 5 years to the day we started trying actually. :lol
My infertility wasn't unexplained though, I have PCOS. I can only imagine how much more frustrating it has to be to have no specific reason. :dizzy:
Anyway, enjoy your pregnancy!

Hi! I thought it was impossible that I was pregnant (I was taking my BBT, and thought ovulation hadn't happened -- I'm still breastfeeding my 19-month-old, so all kinds of things are wacky), but I took a test on Friday night just to rule it out, and here I am! I think my due date is around 1/27/07 based on a careful study of my chart, though based on my LMP, it would be 1/31/07 (my birthday!). I obviously haven't had a chance to talk with my doctor yet.
Anyway, congratulations everyone!
Hi all.
I'm Tani, married to Jon, and we live in gorgeous, scenic, cosmopolitan, urbane and utterly delightful (!) :eyesroll Youngstown, OH. DH is a microbiology professor, and a long time ago, I was a graphic designer. Maybe someday I will be again.
I'm still a bit in shock to find myself here, but it looks like we're due with #3 in late Jan. I'm trying to figure out how to put a ticker in my sig line and it isn't working! :bang
I'm all over the map about this pregnancy. It's complicated, considering the loss of our older dd, our ages (I'll be 41 in a couple of weeks), and a host of other things, like we tend to produce colicky/non-sleeping/24-7 nursing high need infants, and I tend to get WICKED butt-kicking PPD. On the other hand, I know our family has had a big hole in it, and although it always will have since we don't have Hannah, it will feel better and more complete to have two children here with us instead of just one.
I'm a pretty AP/extended bf'ing type of parent, but [disclaimer] I am not that concerned about what other people do as long as their kids are happy and healthy. I just can't get it up for how long someone bf's, or whether they CD, or how crunchy their birth is, as long as they at least keep an open mind and TRY things. So you won't see me getting my knickers in a twist about a lot of things that get hotly debated here, because IMO there are a lot more important things to worry about in this world.
One thing I might do differently this go-round is to CD, and I figure there's a lot of good information about that here!
Anyway, there's my intro.

Hello All-
I'm an unexpected member here as well. My cycle has been so off and my dd is still such a voracious nurser I didn't think much of being 3 weeks late for my period, that is untill the nausea set in!! I hiked me and my dd's butt's to the store for a preg test, and here I am shocked as can be! I'm a SAHM to my 1/14/05 dd and it looks like our EDD is 1/18/07. Yes me and my dh like to make us some January babies! I haven't checked in with our midwife yet so I'm really hoping for a LATE January thinking aquarious new babe, I'm afraid with 2 tough lil mountain goats (Capricorns) they'll mold me into there drill sargeant!! We're getting ready to move to either Texas or L.A. this summer which I'm greatful to get out of the Cold North East for the winter. Otherwise it looks like I'll be tandem nursing this new babe, as my dd shows NO signs or interest in weaning! I guess that's all. Look forward to this journey with all of you!

Hi Mamas
I'm Lisa, 34 yrs. old and mother to 7 year old Dylan, big brother-to-be!!
Due in January, this was not a total shock, but somewhat "unplanned". My husband will be going into his second year of law school this fall and we moved to western Mass. from upstate NY 9 mos. ago. We are still new to the area, feeling unconnected and out-of-place in the community, so this babe is an opportunity to meet some new folks, possibly make some friends. Feeling overwhelmed about financial future since I am the breadwinner and cannot even begin to imagine putting my child in a daycare...although I UNDERSTAND when you have NO other options. FYI, check out the working mother's manifesto website if interested in social change for mothers who need to work. Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Hello. This is acctually the first time I've ever typed anything on this forum. So I'm sorry, I'm a bit naive. I don't know what DD means, I don't know what DS means, and DH, you got me. But, My name is Miranda. I live in Teton Valley. Idaho. I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old. I'm pregnant with my third right now. I'm due January 20th. Funny enough it's my oldest son's birthday. Hi ladies!
I am Isil (31 y/o) from Turkey, married to Soner (32). We are both vegans, for 2 years.
I am 9 weeks pregnant ( due date Jan. 16)
This is our first so we are pretty much excited.
Since the end of 5th week, I'm coping with morning sickness.
These last weeks have been tough for me, though I try to calm myself thinking that MS will pass, sooner or later.
Looking forward to getting to know you all,

Hello and congratulations to all! My name is Gabrielle. I live in MA with my partner of 12 years, Jim, and our 19 month old daughter. I'm nursing MANY times a day at this point and super curious to see how it plays out. We're hoping this birth will be a VBAC. I'm a long-time reader and lurker-- Guess it took another pregnancy to push me onto the boards! Glad to be here.

Hi all!
I've been lurking for quite a while, but I figured I should start posting!
My name is Avi, I'm 26 and married to Marc (28). I'm pregnant with our 1st baby and we're both really excited! I am on hiatus from my career as a teacher (I taught high school Social Studies for 4 years) and am using this year off to work on my master's thesis project and prepare for the babe. Marc is a pharmacist (probably one of the few "anti-med" pharmy's out there  ).
We currently live in northern CT, but are moving to Western Mass sometime in August/Sept. We absolutely love it there and I can't wait to get back. I already have a midwife up there who I've seen once, and really liked. We're planning on having the baby at a birthing center in the area.

Hello all,
I thought I'd posted here already, but it looks like I have not. :bag:
My name is Hannah, I am 24, and here by surprise. We were thinking we were going to start trying in September (so we could avoid end of year babies as both of our birthdays are within weeks of each other around christmas and new years), but here we are! We are very excited about this (somewhat) early addition to our family.
Glad to be here!:thumb

Hi all, I'm Rachael and I'm 35, will be 36 in September.
I'm a glass artist/jeweler and have been self employed for 11 years. I'm partnered with Kirk, 37. We fell into life together when we quickly conceived our ds who is now 5 1/2. Kirk started to work with me 5 years ago, and we get to both stay home, and alternate the times we work.
We live in PDX, altogether pretty content with life and our only child when --- surprise --- pg. I was excited about it right away, but he is still not yet. It's been pretty stressful so far, and I have had terrible ms, which means that he has had to pick up the slack with me not able to work or travel to the art shows we do. I'm crossing my fingers that at some point he will show a smidgen of enthusiasm and support, but in the meantime, I'm just trying to reach out to my gfs, and spend as much quality time as I can with my ds. Our edd is 1-18, but I haven't seen a mw yet...no health insurance this time around, the first time my hospital birth was covered and it was fabulous.
I'm looking forward to navigating the next 6 months with this great community, and seeing what January will bring!

I guess I am a little late in joining up, but I hope you'll have me anyway. I'm Cricket, my daughter is Violet Blue and she is 2 1/2. We live with her dad (my DH) in a tiny house on the coast. I am 15 weeks and... 4 days, I think and am due about January 8th. Violet was concieved in a moment of baby making passion. This little bean was 10 months in the making. I am really thankful to be over the first trimester. Even though I don't have a history of miscarriage, it seems that long awaited pregnancies are so much more fragile than others. I had incredibly low progesterone for the first few weeks which was very worrisome. They had me in for an emergency u/s when they got the results - talk about stressful. I have chosen a practice with several doctors and several midwives and I am pretty sure I will be going with the midwives when it comes time to make the choice. So far I have loved all of them. They all work out of a hospital about 45 minnutes from my house.
That's the basics. Violet is the light of my life. She is absolutely brilliant despite the fact that she doesn't talk much. She knows all her numbers to 100 and loves coloring pigs. That doesn't acurately describe her, but in a way it does.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.

Hi all,
I'm Tamy, momma to Amity 4 and Avery 2. They are a bundle of fun, so we can't wait to have #3! Would love to have a boy this time so DH doesn't move to the garage!:lol
Of course, he loves his girls though! This will be a third c-sec, but I'm ok with that. (Don't think I'm weird.) Hoping for a cool birthday like 1-17-07. I'm going to beg for that day anyway! Right now, I work very part time, I'm a "fill-in" or "sub" dental hygienist. We don't do anything too exciting, mainly spend time with family and friends.
Ok, I better start heading to bed. Thanks for having me!!

Hi everyone,
I'm Shelby (29) and have been married to Michael (31) for almost 2 years (our anniversary is Aug. 14) but have known each other for 11 years. We're from just outside of Toronto, Ontario. This is our first baby and we're very excited and totally nervous too. It's also the first grandchild for both sets of parents, so we have some very, very (over) excited family sharing this with us as well. :D
Looking forward to chatting with everyone!

Hi all, I'm Amy, married to Richard for 7 years and we have a 2 year old daughter, Abby. I'm a SAHM and he works nights.
Right now I'm on bedrest for a subchorionic tear, which is a tear in the folds of the placenta. It is/was really small -- just a cm long. I've been on bedrest now for 2.5 weeks, and have another week and a half to go. On the 17th we go back for an u/s to see if it's gone/healed. I think it is... but really no way of knowing till we get the u/s.
I have ultrasound pics here http://flickr.com/photos/neversatisfied_us/sets/72157594148125261/
And belly shots here http://flickr.com/photos/neversatisfied_us/sets/72057594138914949/

Hi everyone, my name is Kristy, I am married to Michael since march 22, 2002. I live in Missouri with my parents right now (we are trying to catch up on our bills before baby comes) and I am due with our first on 01/14/07. We had been TTC since we got married, but stopped so I could have surgery for endometriosis, and I shockingly got pregnant!! We are very excited, and can't wait. We have our ultrasound the 31st, and we are going to find out if it's a boy or girl. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone, and wish you all the best.

Hi everyone,
OOOH! how exciting! we are all bringing little bundles for the future in January!
I am due January 10th. This is my first, most unexpected and suprising, baby! I live with my partner in Indiana. i'm 27 and he's an ripe old age of 30. We live in a 137 year old house in the inner city, in a really wild and rough neighborhood that we oddly love. however, we now know we need to move as soon as we can, because its not safe for a child. i run an advocacy program for surivors of partner abuse, and my partner works a bike shop, but next week starts as a carpenter apprentice (he's trying to get things in order with the bugger coming!).
we live with 9 cats, seven indoors, two outdoors and we ride bikes all the time and live in a very very vegan house. we spend all our time seemingly fixing broken things on the house and cleaning up after our rascally felines!

Hi everyone! Im Melissa and am a SAHM to my son, Corbin who was born in Feb. 2004. I also have a step daughter who turned 8 in July.
I am married to Gary who is a manager at a local retail store, goes to school part time working towards his CPA, manages part time at a tax prep company AND teaches tax prep classes for 12 weeks in the fall! Needless to say, right now I am in essence a single SAHM.
I am 26 years old and went through college to get a degree in hospitality management so I could work in a cafe in a hotel/state park. Yeah, college wasnt exactly needed for that, but I met my hubby there so I did get something out of it!
Im due on January 31st and find out the sex of this baby on Tuesday (Sept. 19th) as long as baby lets us, that is.
I look forward to getting to know you all! Congrats on your little bundles!!!
Mel

finally making an introduction! i've been lurking for a while, haven't posted to MDC in forever but now that i'm preggo i thought it might be time to share and ask questions again, since i've forgotten everything that happened the first time around :dizzy:
i'm belinda, 30 yr old (will be 31 when new baby comes) sahm to dd 3yrs. i live in westchester county, ny, which is north of NYC (but not "upstate" as some nyc'ers would like to call it!!). i live w/ dh and we moved back here from 10+ years in northern and southern california because i wanted to be close to my family, who are all here. my parents live up the street!!
dd was born at home w/ a midwife in attendance during the brief time that we lived in los angeles. we are planning another homebirth this time. i'm due somewhere around 1/27, but dd was 1 week "early" so who knows!
i am also a fairly newly certified bradley instructor, and i just started teaching a class w/ two other couples also due in jan. it's fun to go through this w/ other couples IRL, too :lol
The Firebird
10-06-2006, 12:32 AM
Hello hello. My name is Magdalena (The Firebird). I am 26 (but will be 27 on Nov 18). I am married Chris (37) and this baby is our first baby!! We are really excited about it. A good friend of mine suggested this forum for me a little while back and in the last couple of weeks I have finally had the courage to post a few things here and there. I am excited that there is a due date club here too!
We are due January 3, 2007. Though people keep telling me that I should really *aim* for before the end of the year so that I can claim this baby on our taxes ... it is funny the things that people come up with! That and you would be surprised how many people have asked me to *try* to have the baby on their birthday or their husbands birthday ... ya, I'll try to pencil you in!
Anyways ... we don't know what we are having and we are really excited about this ... my mother in law was not so thrilled because she wasn't sure how she could go shopping but I think that she has finally gotten over it ... especially after I showed her that she could in fact get some shopping it, just in neutral colours.
I was born in Gdansk, Poland but grew up in Canada (first in Edmonton, Alberta and then for about 8 years in Hamilton, Ontario) ... but my husband is from Texas and so we live here now, in the Austin area. Moving to the U.S. has been an interesting experience, especially since it was the first time that in my life that I have not worked in so long. With immigration and then finding out that we were pregnant and actually moving to Austin (we used to live just outside of the Beaumont area ... where last year we were pummelled by Hurricane Rita who sent a 200 ft pine tree through our house destroying our master bedroom, only two months after we got married!) it has been both busy but strange to not be working full time. But it has given me an opportunity to really pursue some of my other dreams which include photography and writing. Now I find myself trying to prepare our house for the arrival of the little one ... I have become obsessed with organizing every inch of the house!
Anyways, it is nice to be here and I look forward to sharing with you all in the next few months!

A month ago we moved my husband Nick, 38, to Columbus, OH so he could start grad school at OSU. I join him in December; we couldn't give up my paychecks until absoltuely necessary! It's tough being separated but we're doing okay so far.
We'd been married 4 years when I got pregnant and we're super excited about our little girl due at the end of January:)
