Izaac Everest arrived at 11:16am on Wednes day, 26 APRIL.
With DS #1 I never went into labor, so on Tuesday, when my contractions became strong enough to wake me up as I went to bed, I was thrilled to think this VBAC may be on the way!!!
I arrived at the hospital at 3-4 cm, and at 4cm ( a few hours later... 4am on the 26th), I was admitted. I had stronger, longer, shorter interval contractions to 5 cm, which was around 5 or 6am (It's all a fog at this point).
By 9am I was still at 5cm, and the babe hadn't dropped below station -2. My CNM had to abide by hospital rules and give me another hour to show any signs of progress (I hadn't changed for 4 hours at that point, sigh). The contractions seemed more painful, but by 10am, no change and I was started to be prepped for surgery after the Babe had some drops in HR (of course I was monitored the entire time, but at least they were 'cordless' and I could move around).
By 11:16am my 9#, 21.5" baby boy was born, and thank goodness for the C-section, as during the surgery it was discovered that I had begun to tear my old CS scar (VERY rare, but it was 3cm, so I didn't have to have a hysterectomy, thank goodness!) Yikes!! Someone was watching over us for sure.
We have been home for a few days now and I actually feel really great. I feel so much more mobile and less limited than I did after my first C/S.
I feel very blessed for another healthy babe. He's a nursing machine and has already gained 13 ounces since he left the hospital 4 days ago!!! Yikes.
I need to catch up on all of the other births, and feel a bit selfish for only posting this and rushing off for the moment, but things are settling down. If only I could help my nearly 3 year old adjust....he is visibly excited, but seemingingly a bit hurt by the new addition! Oh the joys of parenthood.
All the best to all of you new moms!!!
Cheers
