I started exercising again about a 5 weeks ago and now that I'm pregnant, I want to keep it up. I'd love to have an accountability partner that would get on here with me and just update what we've done as far as getting off our butts in any given day. :lol
I'm 5'2" tall and 162 lbs. I'm not in shape at the moment and am not trying to lose weight while pregnant, but I do want to be healthy and I know getting active can only help. Plus, I'm hoping that if I can have 10 months of habitually exercising under my belt, once my baby moon is over I'm hoping I'll jump right back on the bandwagon and it won't be as hard to lose the baby weight plus the extra 40 pounds I'm packing before baby weight.
Who is with me?? Anyone??:innocent

I would like to join in. I MAY be pregnant. I will know for sure soon. But I hope I can stick around even while finding out?:shy
I have been really consistant with my excercising.(sp?) i have been running 4-5 times a week, though lately 3 times, for longer to boost my daily runs. So, doing 3 long runs the past 2 weeks. I have been doing my pialtes mat routine 5 days a week, yoga one day or more.
I feel good. I am still not back down to my pre baby weight but my body feels like it's getting healthier all the time. And I look okay too.
Things for me that really help me feel good in pregnancy-
run ALOT
not many carbs
things like pilates/yoga
So, if I am pregnant this is a surprise! We weren't planning. But I have all the symptoms. I hope to keep up my routine throughout and replace fat with muscle throughout. I think it can be done. I don't want to gain 60 pounds with this pregnancy!

I want to join!! I have not been working out but I do want to start walking a mile a day. I also plan to join a gym and do water classes. I am 5'4 and 140lbs. I needed to lose 10lbs before I got pregnant but couldn't. I have lost 6lbs in the past 3 months though. I was almost 150 in Janurary.
Oh and I am going to do prenatal yoga.

I'm 5'4" and 196 pounds. yikes....I gained 65 pounds my last pregnancy, lost 30 in the first week (mostly delivery...) and about 1 pound since.....:( I go to the gym 3 days a week and work out at home, or outdoor activities. I hope to not gain anything this pregnancy, and possibly even lose weight if it can be done in a healthy manner. I had gestational diabetes last time and am cutting carbs now, to hopefully avoid any problems with it during this pregnancy. I am using this pregnancy as a time to take care of myself, and really focus on my needs, I've "let myself go" since a terrible accident I had when I was younger, and I am putting an end to the ugliness starting now!!! I am totally nuts lately...

I've been walking: 45 min to an hour in the morning when I can fit it in, and then I usually walk to and from work (15-20 minutes each way).
I also want to start swimming again. I used to be a competitive swimmer but am totally out of shape. This is the perfect time to get back into it.
I also want to do some light weight lifting to increase my muscle strength, for before and after the baby comes.
I also really want to be able to hold a squat, for the birth. Need to work on that, definitely!!

OH I forgot to say I gained 60lbs with my son!! I don't want to gain that much with this pregnancy. I am hoping for a smaller baby as well Jakob was 9lbs. 1oz. I plan to eat lots of protein, fruits and veggies. And drink lots of water!
I am so glad I will be pregnant in the summer that way I can swim!!

I do brisk walking/hiking on a treadmill at the Y and take walks around my hilly neighborhood. I'm switching from regular yoga classes to prenatal ones. I hope to do some swimming as well. My goal is to get some kind of exercise nearly everyday. I have so much more energy when I do!
I'm hoping to gain no more than 25-30 lbs. with this pregnancy, as I'm at a good weight now and don't want to worry about having to lose a lot. So far so good-- I've been craving salad and protein.

I too gained a small child with each pregnancy:lol(meanign 60 pounds is like an extra person.lol)
Provided I really am pregnant, I am going to steer clear of carbs. they make me gain water weight. My sin will remain in the form of spelt tortilla quesadillas a few time sa week though and the occasional (rare) pastry.
I did yoga, ran, and resistance training today:kewl

I started going to Curves the week before I O'd. And I love it.
I hope to do as well as I did when pregnant with DD (I was heathfully down 5 pounds at the end of that preg).
All I want to eat is salad and cabbage so far. . .

I hope to join you! I started a running program in February and would like to continue. I try to run 3 times a week for 45 minutes (that includes warming up, cooling down, running and stretching.) I noticed it was difficult the week after I O'd but this last week seems to have been better. I plan to just follow my body's lead and do less if I need to. I have read (although I never believed it!) that exercise helps with morning sickness so I am very hopeful it will pay off.
My weight now is OK and with my last pregnancy I gained about 25 pound as well as producing a 9 and a half pound baby!! My first pregnancy I gained 40 some pounds with a 7 pound baby. Go figure. This time I just hope to keep everyone healthy and exercise can't hurt with that goal!

So it is possible to lose weight in a healthy manner? And what's with the cabbage cravings?? I've got serious cabbage cravings- and vinegar!!! I plan to eat less, but plenty still, and exercise more, and eat the right foods. I know I'll lose weight, but that would be healthy right? Lots of people are telling me that its dangerous to lose weight when you're pregnant, but I don't see why that would be so bad, especially b/c I am as large as I am right now.

My doctor approved it (I was. . and still am way overweight). I cut way way way back on carbs. Lots of lean protein and veggies, fruits. And a huge increase in my fluid intake.
I lost weight all the way up until my last month of pregnancy. Than I put on about 10 lbs of water weight which brought me up a bit, but still lower than where I started. My DD was a perfectly healthy 7.5 pounds.

Holy cow...up until the accident part, I was starting to think that I had written this post! I am 5'5, 195 lbs (prior to my first pregnancy, I was about 155.) I also gained 65 lbs in pregnancy, lost a bunch right away, and then that was it! I was also thinking/hoping that I would gain little to nothing during this pregnancy, but HEALTHILY - I also had a terribly case of GD last time (in fact, despite my 100% compliance with diet and insulin, my sugars got wilder and wilder until they finally induced me at 38 weeks, concluding he was better off on the outside than in.) I have also returned to the diet I was given when I had GD - I ordered a copy of the Insulin Resistance Diet in hopes of getting some more meal ideas. I kept a food log the last time, and when I looked back over it...well it was pretty dull. I was in a major rut. And since I intend to do this the whole pregnancy this time, I want to be sure I don't get bored and cheat.
I also am trying to take really good care of myself this time, and not resent it but embrace it. I, however, did not have a regular exercise routine, though for about six weeks prior to finding out I was pregnant, I joined a walking group twice a week. I think I will focus on walking every day, and if I can work out the childcare, I will do prenatal yoga again (I did it last time and LOVED it.)
Can we check in with each other every now and again to see how things are going?

Wow! What a great response! Looks like there will be plenty of us to check in with on a fairly regular basis. I think I'll start a post tomorrow that goes through the week and we can check in as we want to let others know our progress or lack thereof. :wink
I'll title it something to the effect of Exercising mommies week of blah blah. Every Sunday I'll try or anyone who gets on here first can start the new thread. How does that sound?
