Where are you feeling the stabbing/pinching? I have felt some pains in my sides off an on and that has been freaking me out a little!

In the middle/upper uterine area...they seem to have subsided now...

Meg--
Popping in from the December DDC. I had a lot of this a few weeks ago, right around 4 weeks.. I think mine was maybe a little lower than what you describe, and always on the left side, but sounds similar- sort of a deep, stabbing pain, not really cramps. I convinced myself that it was the little blob burrowing in deeper, but who knows. It would come and go over the course of several days. I'm now almost 7 weeks, and as far as I know, everything is okay.
Hang in there-- I'm learning that the first trimester is just really unsettling.

I agree with pp that it is burrowing or the uterus strechting a bit. There is so much one can worry about in the first trimester...and forever after as a mother!!

some pinching and cramping are quite normal for early 1st trimester. It is kindof unnerving tho! :hug

It is common with your 1st to feel lots of streching/pinching/stabbing. I went to the ER with this kind of pain freaked out that I was having an ectopic pregnancy, but nothing was wrong and they said it was just ligament pain. Its also possible for the corpus luteum cyst (that supports your pregnancy until the placenta takes over) to cause some pain. Pregnancy also messes with your intestinal/digestive system in lots of ways and sometimes this can cause those feelings as well. HTH.

Thanks for posting this, meggles. I've had a few of these since your post and after seeing the replies could relax knowing that these pains are pretty common. Whew!

Yeah, I really haven't felt much since Friday morning, so I guess it was the little embryo (!) burrowing in deeper. Thankfully I didn't have any spotting. It's so nice to have the wisdom of experienced mamas so close at hand!
