I'm in Baltimore and feeling sort of alone in the world of extended nursing and cloth diapering... are there any other Mothering types in the area?

Hi there, I'm actually in the Reisterstown area but frequent all around baltimore. My son is 15 mo and we are still nursing (yea!) and we cloth diaper. We also will be working on number 2 baby soon! I have several friends around the area who are AP mommies. Let me know if you want to join us or just want to talk.

Neat to hear from everybody!! We lived in Pikesville for a while before I got pregnant and I know there's a lot of more alternative parenting and homeschooling groups around the Pikesville/Reisterstown area - would have been a good place for us now! Since we moved into the city i've been feeling a bit isolated (I don't drive so I'm really dependant upon neighborhood resources of which there aren't any!). Anyhow maybe we can have some sort of get together in a few weeks if people are interested!

Hi - I am in Baltimore City too (Mayfield neighborhood - near the old stadium). I just found this forum and it's very cool as I hardly know any other newish moms (my DD is 5.5 mos) and hardly any who bf, and none who CD!

I'm up for it -- we can literally walk to Lauraville, so we are very close!

But, we're moving to Vermont in late September....so we should get together soon...!

maybe at Herring Run Park? We could meet near Chesterfield Ave and Norman Ave -- there's lots of parking on the street there and it's off Harford Rd (main road). Let me know!

Are either of you going to Artscape this weekend? This will be our last one so we are definitely going. It's the only place in Bmore (before i had a baby) that I ever saw a baby in a sling.

:)

We usually go up to Double Rock Park (go up Harford, turn right on Texas, Texas ends at the park) because it has 3 sets of climbing equipment, slides, swings, and a picnic shelter. How is Herring Run for playgrounds?
I'd like to suggest the first or second weekend in August... how do either of those dates work for everyone?

This upcoming weekend works....is that the first or second weekend?

Anyway, we could do this weekend but not next. Let me know!

Ok, the ninth... which park and AM or PM? 10 AM or after 2PM are both good times for our schedule...

Hey,

Do you all get together for a parenting group? I'm looking for a group to stop in when I'm in area. We're living overseas right now but will be moving back (I grew up here) to the area in the next year or two but in the meantime we'll be in town about 2 months per year.

Essentially, I would like to make some good parenting contacts because I could really use some encouragement about the move back. I’m thrilled to move close to family and I enjoy the diversity of the area and the location of the city along the East Coast but the parents I know are good friends but we have little in common as far as parenting goes.

Anyway, I’ve started to ramble. I just wanted to say hello. I’ll be checking out those websites now…

BTW, there is a town here in Germany called HonStruck! Sorry, but I had to share with someone who would get it.

the yahoogroup mentioned above (areahipmamas) seems to be a pretty active place for community building... as are the other message boards she mentioned. I joined areahipmamas recently, but haven't managed to get into the other boards much (I just do better with revceiving email than going to other forums daily)... anyhow, chewck them out! There's constantly stuff being planned!

yipeee!!!
I just found my local tribe. We moved from Boston to north of Baltimore (Reisterstown/Glyndon) this summer & I've been ACHING for some similarly spirited mamas. In Boston, some local mamas came to our house almost every week to commune with each other.

Our son is 14 months. I would love to meet up with you guys weekly. Is anyone up for an early morning play/talk meeting? My babe is definitely at his best in the morning. Me too.
How can I find out when & where you guys are already meeting?

I cannot wait to be among those who do not balk at a sweet toddler doing calesthenics as he nurses, or at his big-ole cotton diaper butt. :love
