I talked to a healthcare professional today...and told her my situation.. she told me that between having a Baby over 10 and 1/2 lbs, and being diabetic, and having a csection prior, never dialating past 6 cm after 20+ hours of labor..that it would be serious risk to even attempt a VBAC..she told me my uterus has a good chance of rupturing and I could die.. and basically made me feel kind guilty for even thinking it.. so it looks like I will be scheduling a csection sometime between Christmas and the first week of the new year.. I have decided to not be bummed out about it.. I have decided to instead look on the brightside and just be thrilled to be able to have another wonderful child!!

Not in your group but had to respond- find another provider to talk to- a midwife would be best. You are not getting good information. Find an ICAN group for support and good research.

Whatever you decide to do, I encourage you to do as much research as you can on your own, and not rely on what an OB is telling you in one visit. I agree with Alegna, you are not receiving good information. The risk of uterine rupture is less than 1%, which is a lower risk than several other complications that are possibilities for all pregnant women, not just VBACers (prolapse cord and placenta abruption, I think??).

Anyhow, if you are interested in a vaginal birth, don't give up this easy! Join the ICAN list or an ICAN chapter if there is one in your area. Read articles about the pros and cons of each. See a midwife instead of an OB, if possible.

I wish you the best birth experience, no matter what you choose.

Hey Jaime, I think I know how you are feeling. On one hand, you are disappointed about the O.B. conversation, but on another hand almost relieved that the decision has been made. It is hard to be up in the air with something as important as how you will be birthing your child.

I think it is really up to you how far you want to go with this. You aren't wrong either way.

I just joined the ICAN group at yahoo and sent out my introduction. If you are interested I'll give you the link. I think in my situation, a VBAC will be physically safer for me and baby. I am praying about it and am open to input.

I too understand how you feel. I am starting to think I am going to go ahead with a c-section that way I can get my tubes tied as well. I have deep deep fears about labor and birth and not so sure I can get over them.

Its totally up to you in whatever you do and I am here to support all of you no matter what!!

Thank you Mamas all so very much.. I really appreciate the support.. I talked it over with DH, and he is leaning towards csection also.. we will have to do more research one the whole thing.. good thing we have so many month to decide!! hehe I am terribifed of the idea of having vaginal birth, but yet I am curious and feel I owe it to myself as a woman to experience something so amazing.. but on the other hand I am not willing to risk my life or my newborns life to fulfill something that I may or may not really want.. its a toughy.. I will have to really think about this..and I am planning on seeing a midwife.. the nurse was just a preliminary check up...thanks again Mamas..:)
