Hello all. I am new to the mothering forums but I am looking for some like minded mamas in my area. I am in the Shaler/North Hills area of Pgh and from what I see around me most people here area VERY MAINSTREAM!!!!!

I am always looking to get together with some other mamas that CD, Ext BF, babywear and co-sleep. I seemed to get looked down on from my mainstream mama "friends" cause I am still nursing my 14mos old son.....who nurses like a newborn. LOL.

But anyway....I am looking for some mamas with children around the same ages as mine...and also some mama talk. I have 3 children...Britt (9), Kyley (almost 5) and Dawson (14mos).

We're out here well east of you, in Murrysville.

Emer is almost 4, Brendan 12.

I know what you mean about seeing only mainstream, though I don't get out enough to really see anybody. I know there have been other babies on our street, but only ever saw the diaper service truck at our house. I'm not holding my breath that the other moms of young ones breastfed either, just from the brief conversations: "oh I tried but it was too hard."...

When I would wear DD in the MayWrap sling you'd've thought I'd invented sliced bread from the reactions I'd get. I guess it helped that our sling was beautifully bright blues and greens.;)

Hi, I live in Wexford, so we aren't too far from each other.

There are other 'Burgh mamas here, and I started a thread on a get-together. It would be nice to meet you.

Hi Jill! I live in Stanton Heights (near the Zoo), which is right across the river the Shaler area, I think. I have two boys 7 and 3. We'd love to meet you guys! There is another thread here about a get together at The Children's Museum. You might also want to check out this yahoo group. There are mamas there from the city & beyond! http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PghMamasNetwork
