Mine does. I just called to verify it. I am writing a letter to the grievance department. Covering a procedure that is not medically necessary drives up health care costs. They will probably find my letter interesting. Most people are complaining about what insurance DOESN'T cover.

The truth is they probably don't care. What they care about is selling policies and making money.

My state Medicaid just stopped covering it! I think this is a big victory. I wonder about my insurance, though, BCBS, it probably does.

I wish the insurance we had with ds #1 didn't! If it didn't, it probably would have forced us to wonder why and would have saved our first son from being circ'd.

Ours pays for it, if you do it in the hospital it's part of the "hopital stay" if not you pay your co-pay. It's sad.

I emailed my STATE FUNDED HMO weeks ago, finally got a reply. (I emailed so Iwouldn't have to call and be asked 2000 questions about me before an answer).
Here is the sad answer:
"Yes it is covered and it needs a precert number first.
I can be reached @ 1-888-XXX-7000 ex 5146." :eek
I simply asked if it was covered. Now I would like to respond with my sadness and disagreement, but can't get the words together, I knew everyone here could help me-writing it for me to cut and paste is fine with me too! lmao :D

Blue Cross , Blue Shield insurance . That is what we used to have. They cover it. I had to keep telling everyone with son #2 that no, I did not want it done, needless to say he was with us 95% of the time.
Its sad, I wish they would stop covering it.

We certainly could use a thread with snippets of what points could be made in an effective manner.

Although it may very well be true that they don't care - can we find a place to lodge complaints??

You can call your insurance co. and ask for an address to write concerning what is covered.
