Weaning off Dom Peridone - Anyone done this yet?

Hi all - I've weaned off Dom Peridone now and have been having great success with Blessed Thistle. I have to tell you though, weaning off it was hellish -Really bad headaches and irritability and terrible stomach cramps.

I almost caved and went back on it just because I was so miserable.

I weaned by cutting my intake down in half and then in half again etc. until I was no longer taking pills.

Has anyone else experienced this???

I didn't have any side effects when I weaned off of it, but I only went down by 10 mg a week. So for one week I'd take 80 mg, the next week 70 mg, etc until it was down to zero. That was how my midwife said to do it.

dd was born in July, i started dom in Oct. i am dom free since 1st May, i weaned off w/o side effects. my supply is okay, so no complain here! :wink

I actually quit taking it cold turkey - with no side effects. Then went back on to my full strength - again with no side effects (except for the milkiness).

When I weaned from it, I had no side effects. I dropped 10 mg at a time, every 3-4 days.

Did you all go on it without side effects? I had the same headache etc. when I first started on it. My supply seems ok though so that's good right?

I didn't ahve any side effects while on it, either. If your supply is good, you should be ok. If you notice it dipping, wean off it slower.

I weaned off once, (knowing my R/X was going to run out) then went back on, but didn't get the same milk supply. This time, I stopped cold turkey. Both times I've been very irritable. My baby simply refuses to nurse (he's 8 months), I had dried up on one side and could only pump a quarter ounce from the other side. Things just seemed to shut down, so after 8 months of this, I finally gave up.

The question is, what do I do with this bottle of Dom? It's so expensive, I hate to throw it away. Sigh.
