can anyone recommend a good midwife in the San Antonio area? Preferably one that works with a birthing center? I'm not too keen on a homebirth - Gramps has altimerzs disease and I don't really want to have to deal with him while giving birth!

I've just about made up my mind to switch from my OB to a midwife - the more I go the madder I get!

If you are looking for a midwife in San Antonio with a birthing center, a good place to start is with Janet Dirmeyer:
http://www.texasmidwives.org/midwives/JDirmeyer.htm She has a nice facility close to the medical center. There are also many other midwives in San Antonio that are great. This is the homepage for Texas Midwives:

Good luck and yes, midwives are a great option...I am enjoying my midwives tremendously this pregnancy...so much better!
