I have a bottle of prenatal vitamins on hand that I got from the healthfood store last summer that I was supposed to be taking while nursing, but I'm so bad about continuing them for the duration of breastfeeding. Anyway, they're still good, but it's not a full bottle so I'll need to get more in the next couple of weeks. Just curious what brand you all have tried and liked.

Also, what about a good protein shake brand? Maybe if I start drinking them now it will prevent or at least lessen the nausea that's sure to rear its ugly head in the coming weeks....

I do Rainbow light. I usually take the vitamins, but went to Philly to visit family and forgot them, so I went to whole foods to get more and they had something else called Prenatal Complete (still by Rainbow Light). They look the same- except you take 6 a day! Does anyone know the difference?
As for protien shakes- I'd maybe make a berry or fruit smoothie add some yogurt and either some tofu (non GMO organic if you eat that) and/or spirulina powder

I've seen Rainbow Light before. I'll look into those. I'll look into the spirulina powder as well. I think I took capsules of those with my 3rd baby.

I use the Rainbow Light once a day vitamins. I used to use one brand that you took 3 a day, but I always forgot to take the other 2.

I am taking Super Nutrition Prenatal Blend. They are food based and I have to take 6 a day! I like that they have 1200mg of calcium, 1000mg of folic acid and they also havd DHA(and lots more of course). They give me noticeable energy.

I took Rainbow Light once a day for awhile a few months ago and they seemed to be lacking for me. I didn't have the energy I have when taking Super Nutrition.

Hi ladies,

I live in Canada. I have been taking pregvits for the past 8 months..i like them mainly because they are by prescription only and they are therefore covered by my insurance company...a great savings when you're saving up to be off for a year!

I'm taking a generic CVS brand. I've been on them for about 5 months and I've never had any problems. I've heard Rainbow Light is the best, but they are $$$.

Been taking a generic form of StuartNatal+3 for almost 3 years now... though while nursing I wasn't quite as good as when I was pregnant with dd.

But our health ins just changed, and the copay went from $5 to $12. It might be cheaper to get OTC ones now.

i can't take prenatals because of my IC (a bladder disorder) because there is to much folic acid in them and it sends me into a flare up. I am meeting with my OBGYN next week and we will discuss this and see what we can do.

i have to meet with a dietition for my IC sometime this month anyways so i will tell them then that i'm prego, that i had to stop taking one of my meds and ask her which IC friendly foods also are good for getting those vitamins i will be lacking

I got a bunch of samples from the nurse on Friday, so I am testing them out to see which one works for me...She also told me that they may cause nausea, which I have been feeling, so I am going to start taking it at night. But they are all one a day, that works better for me. I'll let you know which one I end up going with.
