my son (who will be 6 this august) found my old copy of charlott's web and devoured it. now he's reading it again on his own AND wants me to re-read it to him from the beginning at bedtime (which we started doing tonight)!

i think this is AWESOME but i'd also like to add on some additional stuff that's in line with that same sort of subject matter, or maybe discuss different aspects of the book?

right now we've started defining more of the vocabulary terms he wasn't familiar with, but other than that --- suggestions?? (like for curriculum resources that i can use to go along with the book??) ETA - we're also working on more reading comprehension skills but he's already got just about everything i "test" him on nailed down. :duh (for example: i didn't even really believe he had actually READ it all the way through until i drilled him on some of the concepts and plot elements of the book, and he told me the entire story line, named characters, explained the plot, everything. :dropjaw )

(sorry, i know this is scattered, i'm exhausted!)

Wow, great idea. My dd (almost 5 yrs) loves the book as well. I have read it twice to her in the last year and she says after we finish Little House on the Prairie she wants me to read Charlotte to her again.

She visited a spring youth fair in our area with her grandmother and rode on a ferris wheel for the first time. She said it reminded her of the book. I know the book has also really gotten her more interested in spiders and how they spin their webs. Maybe you could get some spider books from the library and talk about the different kinds of webs they spin.

Possiby visiting a farm to see baby pigs..maybe he could hold one? I'll be watching to see what others replies are. Thanks for starting this thread!

thanks for the links!

i've been thinking about taking him to some local farms... we recently had the county fair here, which had the local agricultural people with all their animals, but because my foot was still injured and it was set off quite some distance from the main fairgrounds i didn't take him to see them. :innocent
