I posted before about gaining over 35 lbs. in the last tri. I received very good answers, which I agreed with is that my body is gonna do what it's supposed to do.
I guess I'm just wondering what the next 4-6 weeks have in store for me (that is what it will be if he is not early)? If I've gained 42 so far, does that mean I'll probably go to around 50 lbs? I had no idea I would gain this much, as I have been "smaller" most of this pg and didn't show until 18-20 weeks. I know most of the growing is done in 3rd tri. And I am not big "all over" it's mostly in my belly.

Also, at my last two mw appointments, the first one I measured 2 weeks ahead and the second was 3 weeks ahead. Does that mean my next appointment I will probably be 4 weeks ahead (especially with the weight gain)? I'm pretty sure my EDD is right, as my LMP date and 8 week ultrasound agreed with each other.
If I measure ahead more, I think they are probably going to want to do an ultrasound, which I might refuse, for more than one reason (I've already had 3 and didn't want any more). But if I refuse, will they then say "well, then you can't do the waterbirth because we think you are going to have a big baby"? (yes, that is written on their fact sheet about wb, if they think the baby will be too big they won't let you do it, which doesn't make any sense to me).

And for the weird pg symptom that I have not read about in any books, it first happened early 2nd tri and then went away, and now it came back, but worse. When I get up in the morning and start walking, the bottoms of my feet HURT! I end up walking like an old lady for a few minutes until my feet get acclimated. Has anyone had this happen? I am also just starting to get swollen ankles this week, but did not have that the first time my feet hurt. I'm sure it has something to do with the fluid moving around.

Thanks!!

I only have advice about your hurting feet. When we sleep, our feet are relaxed and the toes tend to point down instead of being in the same postion as they are when we walk. It helps me to stretch my feet a bit before getting up to reduce the stiffness/pain. The pain is just from getting used to a different postion. I've been told it is common even without being pregnant. Hope you feel better!:duck:

I don't know how common it is, but I'm going through the hurting-feet thing too. I'm attributing it to a couple factors: swelling in hands and feet, and just the additional weight my feet are carrying. I'm up a little over 30 pounds, and have never been this heavy in my life, so it's definitely something new for my feet.

good luck with the last few weeks -- sounds like you're almost there :)

On the weight gain: It's common to plateau in weight gain at some point in the third trimester, so I wouldn't necessarily expect you to get to 50 pounds by the end. For one thing, your stomach is squashed, so eating much just isn't appealing. The fundus measurement could easily go back to 2 cm ahead at your next appointment, or stay at 3, or go to 4. A couple of cm difference isn't really a lot. It depends quite a bit on how the baby is lying that day, and if you were to be measured by a couple of people in a row, they might all get slightly different measurements anyway.

I don't know what they'd say about the waterbirth if they suggested an u/s and you refused. Like you said, I don't know why they'd refuse to do a waterbirth because of a suspected big baby anyway. I can certainly understand not wanting to have another scan done, especially considering the likelihood that it will come up with a "big baby" result even if the baby isn't especially large.

The foot pain: I've had swelling in the bottoms of my feet a couple of times with this pg, and a lot of times when I was pg with ds. It's a weird feeling to walk on it, but like you described, it's gone away after a couple of minutes of walking.

Good luck!

Thanks! Just had my 36 wk appointment this morning, and I actually measured only one week ahead this time, I know there are different factors that would account for that.
I was visiting a friend this weekend and she said the bottoms of her feet are sore when she stands up in the morning, and she is not PG. I'm trying to stretch them around before I get up and see if that helps.
