So I'm curious...
the other morning I was sick to my stomach and was about to take some Alka-Selter. Then I remembered I couldn't have that. So out of curiousity, I got to looking at all the pain killers I could find, and everyone said, "If pregnant or breastfeeding, see a dr..." etc...
Is there any pain killer that I CAN take?

I seem to recall that tylenol was ok if pain was really bad but otherwise, you are safer to use some natural remedies. Ginger tea (brew a bit of the root with lemon and honey) helps nausea and massage can help with muscle tension headaches.

Aspirin (ASA) is bad all around in pregnancy, and Advil (ibuprofen) is bad particularly in late pregnancy. Tylenol has appeared to be pretty safe. Of course, if you are in excruciating pain, you can take Tylenol. But as the PP said, it's better to try safer things first. FYI, the pain killer in Alka-Seltzer is the same as Tylenol... but I don't know about the other ingredients in it.

Depends on what it's for :wink I use nothing OTC and can always take care of myself...what are your specific complaints?

I guess I'm not dying from anything :wink , but one morning I was really hoping to take some Alka Seltzer, in hopes that it would help the MS. But I'm also a bit concerned about what to do if I get a headache. I haven't had one in a while, but I have a tendency to get migranes. I usually take Aleeve for those, but that, took says on the side to see your dr if preg, etc...

Acetaminophen/Paracetamol is ok to take.

Morning sickness: B vitamins, iron and some nettle or ginger tea.
Headaches: Magnesium, skullcap tincture or clary sage essential oil. Magnesium is the key for the headaches. Skullcap will also restrict dilated blood vessels to give some relief.

I too used to have headaches. Once pregnant I took a Tylenol (acetaminophen) or two every once in a while. That was explained to me to be the best. And yes, I believe it's the same drug that is in alka seltzer.
I don't know about your feelings on caffeine, but a little caffeine will sometimes help with headaches too.
The reason all of the medicines say to ask your dr if pregnant or breastfeeding is to cover their butts! Just listen to what your dr/mw says.
